Download finally started again after multiple tries, Washington D.C. area, no VPN. 4.50GB downloaded out of 12.18GB and about 30 minutes remaining to download the rest...

well that was interesting, i too had that my updates were managed externally randomly. I rebooted. Now its back to normal and downloading again. bet they pushed a kill for the partial updates...wherever they are kept

Apple f*cked this up really good this time. I downloading the entire file, then it got stuck, then it froze, then I rebooted, then I downloaded it again, then it said I was up to date with Catalina.

Now I am just f*cked....

I can't download or update or get anything except pissed off.

Apple is starting to be as bad as Microsoft. Ughghgh

It seems like it's back up and running... just the servers are slammed. Give it time. there's movement happening now. I'm up to 5.33 GB. about 2 or 3 gigs in the past 5 min.

It just failed for me again in Los Angeles without VPN

OK...mine crapped out at about 7gb downloaded. And I'm back to the same annoying error message.

I'm in LA and I disconnected wifi/ethernet, then tethered to Phone. I then tried update again, and it said 'up to date'. Reconnected everything and tried update again and it works.

I guess Apple is punishing 1/2 of the USA for the election?

Otherwise I have no idea why Apple is sucking this bad.

Anyone?

How do I clear my Appstore downloads to start fresh?

Started downloading again here in Los Angeles, but then got stuck at about 2.8GB. I cancelled the download.
Feels like this is just a repeat of earlier.

hey guys the big sur update seems to have been pulled. I'm in Florida US, and I just went back and ran the software update prefpane and now it says my system is up to date with Catalina.
Does it say on the left hand side something like this device is managed externally? If something like that click on details then restore defaults. Then close the window and relaunch and update should show up.
