EDIT: Nope. It started and then failed. But we are making progress. Apple really messed up today lol

EDIT 2: waited a bit; working.

That was nice while it lasted... download like 2GB worth in 5 minutes span and I am getting the error again. At least it's working sometimes...

I tried again and it's resuming where it left off. Los Angeles / no VPN

Refreshed system update by using the App Store link, making progress

Edit: error continues

Edit: Restarted and download is moving

Edit: Full stop at 4.xx GB

I don't get it I download the first 4GB in 20 seconds and it just stops at 4.38 every time

Update pushed through now....download speeds spiking up and down randomly. Hopefully, it goes through

12.18/12.18....waiting on installer to show up.

Failed with new error "#@" missing or invalid redownloading, speeds are very slow now

Finished downloading finally!

I tried a bunch of VPN locations. Worked for a while and in all cases eventually failed.

When on a VPN, can anyone look at a ’netstat -an’ or an ‘lsof -Np‘ to see what IP address range the connection is being formed to?

Pathetic.

Netflix, etc, can handle the load when a new movie or TV series is dropped. You'd think Apple would've figured this out by now.
Netflix stages servers directly at most ISPs in high-usage areas. I don't think Apple would do the same for (roughly annual) OS updates.

Hey guys, can confirm that it's possible to START the download using a VPN on an Australian server, and disconnect the VPN a minute later, getting a huge speed bump on the download.
