try the terminal command sudo softwareupdate --clear-catalogOK...mine crapped out at about 7gb downloaded. And I'm back to the same annoying error message.
I’m a bit of a night owl at the momentYou are up late across the pod.
Was consistently giving me the error, just did that and now it's already up to 7gb.If you are getting "An Error Occurred While Installing the Selected Updates", do the following:
1. Launch the terminal
2. Run `sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder`
3. Retry update
Click details on the left. Restore defaults. Enter password close window then reopen.Well this is interesting. My software updates suddenly claims I have no internet and that my updates are managed externally.

Netflix stages servers directly at most ISPs in high-usage areas. I don't think Apple would do the same for (roughly annual) OS updates.Pathetic.
Netflix, etc, can handle the load when a new movie or TV series is dropped. You'd think Apple would've figured this out by now.
