I also have a problem with my USB 3 hub. macOS is constantly disconnecting drives and reconnecting … the whole day. Had to disconnect the hub. At least I now know, that it is again bad software from apple. I hope this time a fix is comming sooner.

Them bringing back ports on their new laptops won't magically bring back ports on a computer I bought last year and intend to use for 4 more years. It's funny how companies think they "solved" a problem by releasing new products, but never think of those who bought the previous products not long ago.
You can sell it or trade it in. I plan on doing one of those when the next Air or Mini comes out.

I updated my M1 MBA the other day and now the touchID on my external bluetooth keyboard won't work.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I am experiencing a similar issue since updating but I thought it was due to Bitdefender (an anti-virus software) preventing me to do a Time Machine backup with an external drive. I had to disable Bitdefender and use another port and then it worked.

I contacted Bitdefender and they said they were aware of the issue and that it has been fixed on the latest software update. It's not easier to do backups... but not through the original port, for some reason, as the external drive is still not recognized by my Mac on this port. It works on another port, and now I wonder if it is due to the issue flagged on this article.

Does power delivery fail to work when the laptop is turned off? I'm wondering if the bug came with a firmware update.

Some Mac users who upgraded to macOS Monterey this week are experiencing problems getting USB hubs and other USB-based devices to work properly with their machines, based on scattered online reports.

There have been several reports on Reddit, Apple's Developer Forums, and Apple's Support Communities about the issues. In some cases, users say the the USB 3.0 ports on their hub no longer work since upgrading to Monterey, while HDMI, USB-C, and other hub ports continue to work as expected.

In other user reports surfacing online, the USB hubs fail to work at all. Some of the problems even relate to Apple certified hubs. Reddit user Flyersny81 relates their experience:
In other cases, the USB hubs work except for the power delivery port. For some, it's the additional connectivity provided by external displays that no longer works, with the power delivery affected in particular. From Apple's Developer Forums:
Many of the reports are from owners of M1-powered Macs, but not all. Some users have reported similar issues on Intel Macs. Based on user discussions, USB issues were reported in early beta versions of Monterey, suggesting this could be due to a legacy bug that Apple has still not patched.

As such, the problems appear to be evident in all versions of Monterey, including the latest 12.0.1 version. Suffice to say, anyone who has yet to upgrade to Monterey and relies on a USB hub is advised to hold off upgrading until Apple issues a fix.

My Anker branded hub appears to be working on an Intel MBP 2020 running Monterey 12.0.1. Here's hoping it works with my new MBP, which has shipped but the tracking has not been updated since Wednesday in Shanghai.

I thought this was only me!

I have a 2020 iMac that I just upgraded to Monterey. I also just reconnected my OWC Thunderbolt 2 dock via Apple's Tb3-to-Tb2 adapter. I have two bus-powered HDDs connected and a RØDECaster Pro. I did not try this setup before Monterey, so I first assumed the hub was the sole problem, not Monterey.

Last night, I had to re-record a Screenflow recording multiple times because the RØDECaster Pro audio was corrupted or disconnected. Rebooting it would temporarily fix it, but I also noticed that rebooting the RØDECaster Pro (essentially the same to the PC as unplugging and replugging) would cause those two HDDs to disconnect and reconnect. And I would see them lose connection again.

Having been on OS X since the Public Beta, I have learned to wait on new OSes. I actually stay a whole version behind. Now would be the time I would upgrade to Big Sur (still on catalina)

I plugged in my Anker PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB-C PD Media Hub (A8346), connected to an Anker Powerline III Flow 100w Power Cable, connected to an Anker Nano II 65w GaN charger.

I don't have any flash drives to plug in to test though, and it seems to be working just fine.

The Caldigit TS3+ at home works just fine, with two WD externals, an LG DVD-RW, and a Samsung Odyssey G7 plugged into it.

I'm on the 12.1 beta, if that matters.

The update broke keyboard brightness control on older 24" and 27" Cinema displays with M1 Macs, but keyboard brightness control still works fine with Intel Macs.

So glad I read this thread. I was going to upgrade my 2020 MBP today but since I am totally dependent my hub for everything, I’ll wait.

My Hub runs with Monterey on an Intel MBP.

Will the same hub work with an M1 MBP and Monterey?

yep this is effecting me... it sucks. 4k Samsung screen flickers then goes pure white. Then it will reengage.
Touch ID has been a pain too. The fix for me was to turn off the App Store, iTunes option in settings.

cable changes, smc resets, re-install of 12.0.1 just to be sure, no change - MBP intel 2017.
HDMI cable is Apples!!! makes no difference.

Good job my new 14 inch MBP is turning up tomorrow... ?
