One thing I do not understand about Apple is why relatively minor but super annoying bugs need to wait for a next dot release before it's fixed. Why not release a dot dot release soon just to fix that bug? If I recall, Windows operating system tends to see more regular fixes and updates, whereas macOS updates take a longer iteration before it's released. I find that super annoying.
There was a bug in original release of iPadOS 26 (June 2025) where the calendar setting was not maintained and after the Calendar app reloads from memory, all your calendars are selected. Typically I only want about 3 out of 8 or so calendars to be selected because the other ones are really my spouse's calendars and I don't need them visible by default. It was super annoying and took a very long time to be fixed (February 2026 in the latest iPadOS 26 dot release).
Bugs like this that really affect a user's interface and is clearly visible should be fixed ASAP and released rather than waiting for some next major dot release. Super annoying.
Furthermore in Windows, it doesn't necessarily require a Windows dot release to fix a bug, but I believe various components can be released that way? Maybe I'm wrong, but I've seen native apps like Calendar and various native background apps fixed with just versions of those items released, rather than being all bundled up in a big Windows update. I like that model too.
Why does Apple release its fixes this way?
Wasn't there a point when Apple issued some kind of model like rapid release where it could use that method to issue fixes faster? Wasn't that first done like 2 years ago, but nothing much with that method has come out?
I've been a long time Mac user (since 1989), and while I'm not as familiar with Windows, it seems that Windows has a much better frequency and method to release fixes. It's been 37 years (for me!) and counting...!
