Well done! It's okay about the picture :). I've added your name to the honour roll.

It was the best donation experience I've had so far. No discomfort, and the woman taking my blood was wearing a blouse cut much lower than reasonable. I highly recommend the OC Red Cross! :)

I Gave at the Office

MacRumors’ Blood Drive was a factor in my decision to give blood again after a year "off." I gave a pint this morning as part of a blood drive here at work. Thanks for getting the message out. (This also was incentive to register my presence on MR and make my first post after reading posts every noon for the last couple of years.)

Good job, DanielJvdBerg. We've reached 20 units of blood!

It's also good to know a referral link for people in the Netherlands. We added Sanquin to the list in post #3.

First time giving today!
apparently, I have good flow. It was very quick.

The needle hurt a little going in, but was fine after that. I personally think the haemoglobin test hurt more!

Next donation will be in November this year.

I donated blood at school last week. I didn't really make the weight requirement, but they didn't check. I got really dizzy.

So I have an honest-to-goodness phobia of needles, the last time I went to the doctor that they wanted to draw blood, I had a panic attack when they wheeled the cart in, and was working through "fight or flight" when the nurse figured out that it just wasn't going to happen and wheeled it out. I was either going to run screaming from the room, or I was going to throw the nurse (screaming, most likely) from the room. Either option wouldn't have been good. (Yes, I know I shouldn't have that reaction, logically I'm just fine with it right until the moment it enters the room, that's why it's a "phobia", not a "dislike".)

But this is an excellent cause, and I'll gladly donate my signature.

Thanks for your contribution, and interest to help other people. There is a but, however, donor safety first. I recommend you try to gain weight by building up muscle mass (better than fat), and drink a liter of water/juice before if you decide to donate again. Here in Finland, if you faint on two occasions while or after donating, you aren't usually allowed to donate anymore, as a safety precaution. So please, consider your own safety and health, we wouldn't want anything bad happen to you while serving a good cause.

All the good,
G4-power

I donated blood on the 15th.

It's not easy to write on your elbow. Don't try it unless you are a professional!

I need to donate again just because I'm pissed that I didn't remember to take a picture! :)

Forgot to take pictures, but I did manage to make a whole blood donation at my university drive! If you're eligible to donate, I strongly suggest that you do so! There is only a very slight discomfort when they insert the needle, but after that, it doesn't hurt at all. The ability to help someone's life is a rewarding experience! (Plus, they have snacks!)
