The Front Page isn't looking right for me (first image). Also, the forums are not centered (second image).

I kind of like the new design, tho I'm not sure about keeping the old forum design (reply box, grayscale boxes/backgrounds) and using a more colorful header only (third image). The reply box looks old and boring when compared to the header.

Ok...

for those who want a smaller view.

choose "Fluid". It goes down to 950 pixels wide now. Note that I knew we were going a little wide, but only 1% of our visitors use a 1024xYYY screen.

for those who want an ugly wide view.

choose "Fluid-HD" (not recommended :) ) It goes to 2560 pixels wide. Enjoy.

Excellent.

Just switched to Fluid HD and now it will fill whatever size I stretch my browser window to without any white wasted gaps.

Well Done & thanks for the change :)

I must admit, I do miss the Positive/Negative ratings to get a feel for the members general views on each article, but I guess there are reasons why it was removed.

Thank you. The front page still looks weird to me (way more empty space than content), but the forums now basically look the same, and that's where I spend 90% of my time.

Holy crap this redesign has totally thrown me. Funny how you get used to something.

I like it though :) Very clean.

Thanks, looks good now at 1024px wide, no hor scrolling! :)

Looks *****, why change the old one when it worked perfectly?, where are the forum quicklinks?, what a utter waste of time

Edit, also why is everything so ****ing narrow now, bring back the old design, should make a poll on this.
Its so much harder on the eyes to read stuff, its just a ****ing mess, ruined...

I don't know... the design is definitely more refined but the layout doesn't feel right for me. IMHO the news part is too narrow... it feels like 65:35 and it should be at least 75:25 or 80:20.

My 2 cents (as a web design professional).

I think the news site is fine on the front. Although it could be a tad wider.

But the forums shouldn't be the same size. It should at least scale with your browser.

Sitting on a 30" it looks ridiculous.

*Edit* Just read the Fluid options. Great work. Works brilliantly.

Not sure if that gets tied into your account or not, but that would be nice too, save changing it if I goto another computer =)

New design looks good. Though I think red tabs on white text at the top would look a touch better than the black tabs on white text. Kinda brings you out of the moment since everything else is colorful. The text is nice and clean on the front page and the forums. I think it makes it easier to read. Defiantly makes a difference after I switched to the Fluid HD mode.

Why complaints over the width? Reading down is far easier and quicker than reading across. Otherwise, content over form, so I don't have an opinion about the new design.

We disagree.

The right side includes an abstract [at least that would be the best way of summarizing the article they want you to click on] and an image to coincide with that abstract summary.

To narrow it more would be to produce a summary too skinny, and give the result of the left-side producing summaries too shallow [wide and short] giving no balance to the flow.

Whether you're designing for a browser, application, embedded browser/app that 80/20 makes zero sense, unless all you're throwing on the right are links to advertisers.

The Buyer's Guide has lost information - the list of recent releases has been truncated. Not cool at all.
