Turn on the fluid option!

arn

Its funny how this is clearly stated in the original article (as well as where page 2 has gone), yet 20 pages later people are still complaining that they can't figure it out.

- Fixed or Fluid - The default view for the site is now a fixed-width design. For those who prefer a fluid (variable) width design, you can turn it On or Off. If you change your mind later, the links for those settings are at the bottom of this page.
- Page Load Times - Pages will load faster and the site will be able to handle more traffic.
- Content Changes - The content of the MacRumors front page will remain the same. As always, it will highlight the most significant iOS and Mac news and rumors. Page 2 has been retired and has evolved into a Mac Blog, and our iPhone Blog will expand to cover iOS and iPad topics.

Loving it

Superb job guys.

It seems to have way less chrome and feel more spacious... with the text and images truly taking center stage. It also looks good and loads quickly on an iPhone.

It may not suit everyone but I think it's a good progressive overhaul without being too disruptive (unlike that mess over at Gizmodo :) ).

Well done.

If you're running your browser window wider than 1200 pixels, you're doing it wrong.

I know this may be hard for someone used to Apple to understand.

But people with PC's are used to being able to have things they way THEY like them. Not the way they are told to like them ;)

You've been a member since 2007 and you don't know that many comment without having read the article?

I don't like having to scroll down past the "More MacRumors Stories" to see recent comments in the forum, and the spacing between forum threads is too big, but other than that, not bad.

Can't please anybody these days. There are more complaints about fluid and fixed width than you can shake a stick at. So I'm going to add one more. :p

I have my 15" laptop screen size set to 1024 x 768. Call me old fashioned if you want, but I need to see what I'm looking at on my laptop.

Gimme the max dimension we can go without scrollbars on a 1024 wide display.

Could there possibly be a third sizing option made? Like "Dynamic" and it makes the pages/forums scale like they did on the old site. That way it'll take care of the small and the big screens.

That's an extremely unproductive approach to things.

Looks nicer, but is less useful than the last version.

Write your own Apple joke.

I like the new design, but it side-scrolls on a 1024-width Firefox window. 1024 is what most sites target, so I keep my browser set to that width. 1024 also takes up a nice portion (less than half) of the screen on a 30" monitor.

Fluid/non-fluid makes no difference to the side-scrolling.

The design needs to be a few pixels less wide.

+1. I have a 13" MacBook and I did noticed the site is wider now.

Ok...

for those who want a smaller view.

choose "Fluid". It goes down to 950 pixels wide now. Note that I knew we were going a little wide, but only 1% of our visitors use a 1024xYYY screen.

for those who want an ugly wide view.

choose "Fluid-HD" (not recommended :) ) It goes to 2560 pixels wide. Enjoy.
