Looks better. Will there be a new mobile version rolled out? I look at the site on my iPhone all the time. Or an app? I'd pay for that.

Another sad to see the positive/negative votes gone. Also looking at the code, do you have something against P tags??

Full RSS feeds - woot! I've been a subscriber since 2000 (sometime around then), and I've always hated the 1-2 sentence snippets in the RSS feed. Now I don't always have to open the browser to view a story!

The votes are the first thing I look at because it gives me an idea if the article is generally market supported or not, and really, that's the bottom line.

Even when I read something that seems positive, a largely negative rating will help me realize that, for example, some great new service has hidden charges.

It's like taking "likes" away from Facebook. You can rarely find a site without such a feature anymore. What would Amazon be without "helpful/not helpful"? Talk about going backwards in social media. I'm hoping it's just a temporary thing in the transition.

Agreed! Couldn't have said it better myself.

I already redesigned it for my own use. Now it looks better. :)

Gotta love Firefox and Stylish ;)

It looks very clean and smooth, nice work.

What I don't like is it's just too narrow. Even on my old 4:3 Dell LCD at work I have huge white borders. :(

-1

Voting was an inane feature. I'm sad to see the post up and down made it in the redesign.

I agree. All it does is turns this into a Apple vs. All battle. I've noticed someone say GO APPLE and its +20 and someone says GO ANDROID and its -5000. Does nothing to help the relevance of a topic.

I guess I am in a minority.. I definitely prefer the old design.

I wouldn't say I prefer the old design but it would be nice if the page could be wider. The website is very narrow on a large high def monitor and does not fill out to the edges regardless the browser size.

Looks fresher but for me the light blue versus deep red theme looks a little contrived. I think websites look better when they stick to a single color scheme - for example, using all variations of dark/light blue or all variations of dark/light red IMO... Still pleased a change has arrived - its better than Gizmodos revamp at least lol

There is a very severe bug. The page doesn't adapt to the width of the browser window anymore. So if the window isn't wide enough, I can't see everything (scrollbars at the bottom, but that is a pain), and when the window is wide it is just wasted with lots of empty space on both sides.

Edit: I see there is a switch at the bottom of the page. Please put that into a more obvious position, and a title that is more intuitable. Like "Fixed width / flexible width". How is one supposed to figure out what "Fixed / fluid" is supposed to mean?

Yes, just a little wider

It's bad enough that we have to scroll through entire articles to find things that are relevant, but now that the margins are even narrower, it takes even longer!

What I like about Apple Insider, and CNN, and Reddit, and, well, just about every news site out there, is that I get a summary of what's on the site instantaneously. Can you imagine if CNN posted every news article like MacRumors does? I know, one can't imagine so without the word 'ridiculous' creeping in.

In the old days when Apple wasn't the world's biggest company and there were only a few updates a week, this format is fine. But with a few updates a day? Not so much. It just takes too long.

I could live with this personal-blog-format-on-a-news-site before, but to make it even worse... ouch... maybe it's time to prioritize Apple Insider as my first stop.

From the article on the front page:

• Fixed or Fluid - The default view for the site is now a fixed-width design. For those who prefer a fluid (variable) width design, you can turn it On or Off. If you change your mind later, the links for those settings are at the bottom of this page.
