I just don’t like the curves much…am I the only one who likes the flat design?

also: as mentioned in the last post about this, looks a bit like titanium…👀
I’m with you. This looks like we’re getting more of the same. Apples says on innovation are over. And my next phone won’t be an iPhone.

Same here but I’m also just cautiously optimistic. They could pull an Apple and try to put some “secure verification” to where only mFi USB C chargers work (if that is allowed under the EU law, that is.)
A handshake is already happening for Power Delivery charging, which is part of the standard USB-PD. Without any verification, it will only slow charge. Since Apple didn’t add extra stuff on the USB-C iPads, I don’t think they would do that now.

Well, if this is real, at least the dynamic island isn’t going to languish as a pro only feature for several years. It might actually get third party support now.

Still hoping for an iPhone Fold, I saw the Galaxy Fold in the store today and it’s very nice, but I simply cannot give up iOS. Also, despite being a several year old project, the software was still incredibly buggy.

Nope, I vastly prefer the flat design. I find it less slippery in my hand and I also think it just looks better. The iPhone 4/4S/5/5S designs were peak iphone for me from a design standpoint. I'll probably be keeping my iPhone 12 Pro for quite a while longer anyways. I see absolutely no reason to upgrade yet.

Phones are boring. MacRumors has an exclusive look at images of a candybar slab of pocket computer that could be next year's candybar slab of pocket computer by Apple. So what? They're all the same.
Well, it IS a mature product now. I wouldn't expect much in the way of really surprising new features or anything anymore until some new tech is invented. For most people existing phones are way faster and more powerful than they need now.

I am looking forward to having the same cable for every device, iPhone, iPad MacBook Air, my Android work phone, Nintendo Switch. This is going to be fantastic.
Until Apple changes to a new cable type.

But… my Pro has dynamic island. How will people know I’m better than them?

😩

Eat only White Truffles, Wagyu Beef, Matsutake Mushrooms, Oysters, Saffron, Fugu, Iberico Ham, Bluefin Tuna, Almas Caviar, Foie Gras, Yubari Melon, Vanilla, and Densuke Black Watermelon.

Every one of these. Every meal. Three times a day.

And make sure you livestream every bite.

Those bastards will never question your wallet again. Maybe your bowel fortitude. But not your wallet.

Someone (like Apple) aught to come up with a recycling program. There's not much copper in each cable, but not nothing either. Add up all Lightning cables ever sold, and it's probably a very substantial amount of copper.
Good idea, but just wondering if there is minimal copper involved, would it be eco & cost effective? Would you be using more energy and creating more waste to get the copper? I have no idea!

Looks like … an iPhone ;)
USB-C and periscope lens will make me get the 15ProMax…
Yeah it certainly does!

I still feel like this is a little bit stopgap IF we are gonna get an under the lens front facing camera in iPhone 16. I'm doubtful of getting it in IP16, but that's what the road map posted by Ross Young (correct me if I'm wrong) last year stated. If you upgrade every year it's not a problem but if you upgrade on a 3 to 4 year cycle then it does become a more interesting. In saying that, will the first version of camera under screen be any good? I have my suspicions there will be front facing camera gate once it's released!

Oh and we'll be getting wireless soon enough so USB C will be irrelevant in the next 5 years for those adopting early. I'm sure Apple probably wanted to jump straight to portless, but the tech just isn't there I'd say.

Only the 15 Pro is rumoured to get slimmer bezels. The 15 isn’t expected to have any design changes from the 14 besides the switch to a dynamic island.
Hmm, so now the regular non-pro iPhone will basically be in -1 generation in design and hardware/chip.

looks still like "an iphone". 2024. Minor Upgrades (Camera, Bezel etc.) People will still buy it anyways. Android isnt better either. Same trash design, plethora of pre-installed apps, easy to install viruses and root, un-reliable apps and no value after sale. Just another year 2024. *Repeat in 2025.
What would you like it to be?

Posts like this are confusing to me. Phones are now mature tech. Much like computers or vacuum cleaners or gasoline engines. Small refinements from here on out.

You’re still thinking it’s 2007 and phone manufacturers are coming out with wild designs.

Its safe to say, at this point, Apple is playing musical chairs with the iPhone hardware.

Lets recap:

2007 - multitouch, all screen phone, Internet in your pocket
2008 - 3G
2009 - video recording
2010 - Retina, Facetime
2011 - Siri
2012 - bigger screen, 4G/LTE
2013 - A7 64 bit
2014 - 4.7, 5.5
2015 - Force touch, 4K video recording
2016 - computational photography
2017 - truly all screen, OLED, A11 Bionic, Face ID, Animoji
2018 - now this is where it starts to get muddy - what was the standout in XS and XR again? bigger scree, 6.5 I believe.
2019 - Three cameras, more computational photography, I must admit, I did see a dramatic improvement in the photos.
2020 - 5G
2021 - Blurring people when recording a movie
2022 - Always on display, Emergency services, Photonic engine (which some are debating make photos worse, dynamic island.
2023 - thinner bezel

I wonder how (if at all) the switch to USB-C will affect Apple's MFI program. Will they have a universal port but in a proprietary implementation?
Millions of dollars in lost revenue. That’s why it’s only going away by a court order. It was either that or have both lighting AND USB-c versions.

Apple fought this but they knew it was just a matter of time.

Just like they know losing the App Store monopoly is a matter of time.

Unpopular opinion: Lightning is a better connector physically than USB-C. Sure... I know why people want USB-C on an iPhone. (Standardization, faster transfer speeds, charging...etc.) But from a durability standpoint... I think Lightning is better.
Says you? Many of us have been using usb c for years. I can’t think of one instance where a usb c failed like many of our lighting cables.

So where are you getting this information?

Tim Cook is this you?

This darker dynamic island bit looks misaligned? And why does it have that thin darker border all around it?

PS: Actually, we can see another camera hole to the right of that dark black area, it is just covered by the “e” of the leaker’s watermark. This makes it symmetrical and aligned, similar to the current dynamic island implementation.
