I guess that also means all links to a specific post under vBulletin will now be broken?
I'm guessing, but I'm not sure.

I know the post in my signature works, but well, that link goes to the first post in the thread so maybe a no brainer there.

So, the new wonderful forum software can't link to individual posts but the old software can.
What do you mean by linking to individual posts? there is link to each post, click on the number in the green box on the right of each reply and you'll receive the direct link to that specific post. If you mean to the fact that a post is still presented in a thread flow, then yes, it's a smart SEO decision versus a bad, not productive, and old VB3 decision.

No. They all have 301 redirects. You will enter the old link and be automatically redirected to the new link of the same post.

I should have been more clear. You can link to a post on the page and get there the way Xenforo is doing it.

But if you let a user determine the number of posts per page then that will throw the system off.

A very much needed makeover. Took me massively by surprise!

I'd like to see a bit more shading of certain elements to help me differentiate between them. That's one of my absolute biggest gripes with the latest versions of OS X and iOS, and it's unfortunate it's been carried over here.

The (forum's) front page is also definitely a massive step backwards. Being able to quickly see the latest post in the latest thread was really helpful. And having each sub-forum in it's own 'square' as opposed to a slim block takes up unnecessary amounts of space.

The whole thing will take me a long time to re-learn, but, on the whole - looking good!

For those three or so in this thread who have asked about number of posts per page and received no answer…this bugged me so I was looking for the answer.

Apparently, this appears to be the one foible of Xenforo. In order for the forum software links to function in a user friendly/SEO form there is no stock control for the user to change the number of posts per page. Xenforo links to the post on the specific page and not the post specifically (although you get the link from the post number) so allowing users to determine their own posts per page would throw links off. Apparently Xenforo devs are quite defensive about this deficiency too. So, the new wonderful forum software can't link to individual posts but the old software can.

The administrator of a site has this option, but it's system wide, not specific to any user. The default is 20, apparently we have been allowed 25.

Apparently, as well, there is a third party addon or plugin available that allows this, but presumably that has not or will not be installed here.

Thanks for the info.

Well, that's a bummer. I hate 25 posts per page and loved 100. This is a real downgrade.

You say that it's a much needed makeover and that it's looking good, but then you proceed to state why the old version was better in so many ways.:D

It seems that it IS possible to link to a specific post using the path /posts/postnumber/, for example https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/21383771/ goes to an earlier post of mine. That means that it should be possible to make variable posts per page work; indeed as eyoungren said above, there's an addon that seems to do it.

By the way, I'm not trying to be overly negative; I just believe that issues should be brought to light :)

Just thought I'd pop my head in again to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU for adding a "Toggle Width" button!

My 21:9 monitor loves you :D
