MacRumors London Picnic 2009

london

This sounds fun. I have never really had to chance to actually go out and enjoy London so if all goes right and I can find a cheap flight from Germany then I'm there ..RYANAIR here I come..

Even cheaper if you go from leamington to marylebone. £5 each way, maybe more for a Saturday though.

Yeah I forgot about Chiltern...its a bit of a pain to get to Leam trainwise from Coventry, it's 1 an hour now :(

Anyway...cant attend..Starting a new job on sat.sorry guys :(

Good news

Looks like the weather will be OKish for the first part of the afternoon tomorrow with this being the latest forecast from the Met Office:

Saturday

Mostly dry at first with a few sunny spells and feeling quite warm. Cloud thickening with some outbreaks of rain developing during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Updated: 1527 on Fri 31 Jul 2009

The BBC has also just confirmed it should be sunny and 23C at 1pm tomorrow.

Outbreaks of light rain in the late afternoon we can deal with. Seems like the best weather will be between 1 and 4 or so, and if things take a turn for the worse after that then we'll go to the pub. Stay tuned to this thread throughout the day for any changes.

The MacRumors London Picnic 2009 is on. We'll see you there.

:)

Very late confirmation, but I'll be there! I've missed it for the past 3 years in a row, 4th time's the charm. Just come back from taking my daughter camping, so my partner owes me some baby-sitting time.

Hopefully someone on the picnic knows some sign language but if not pen and paper is fine. I'll bring some nice cider. I'm very partial to mark & sparks' fine Old Hertfordshire Cider at the moment. Tastes better than their no-name 'Organic Cider'.

Cheers all. I'm the one with red glasses.

We know a little bit of Makaton from a TV show our daughter is currently obsessed with, but nowhere near enough to have an adult conversation! I expect too you use BSL, which I know nothing of, so I'll make sure I'll have a pad and pen. I'll need one anyway to communicate with OllyW with his incomprehensible Black Country talk. ;)

I'll look forward to seeing you there - I'll be wearing black glasses. :)

It's grey and wet here in Wales. This rain is meant to be the stuff that hits London later. Hopefully it'll have drained itself before then.

The more the merrier. :)

This rain is meant to be the stuff that hits London later.

This morning's forecast shows light cloud at 1pm, occasional light showers around 4pm... and heavy rain by 7pm. But it should be warmish, or mild at least.

Past MR picnics on sunny days have sometimes gone on till 9-10pm, but that's unlikely to happen this time around. Best get to the park early, bring a brolly just in case for later, and some of us will probably be in the pub from 6-7ish onwards but we'll post here occasionally during the day to let any latecomers know where we are.

I shall probably make a fairly brief appearance with Hector around 2. Ms Skunk is unavailable, still grand-daughtering in Dundee.

I only just made it to the coach with about 30 seconds to spare.

Should arrive in London in about an hour, see you all later. :)

Already in London and leeching wifi at the Apple Store. :D See you all later.

I am the one wearing the greenish Darth Vader shirt. And some pants.

He-he, I've actually got mine with me, but I used it egen we visited the Eden Project last week. And since it was at least 35 degrees C in the tropical globes I don't think it would be particularly nice to the rest of you if I was to wear it... ;)

Coupla spots of rain, which seem to have stopped - but we're happy enough under a rain-proof tree :)

Good turnout so far, but the more the merrier!
