Let me be the first to propose that if we continue this next year, we have ties not these tie breakers.

Let me second this motion. As a matter of fact, there may be a way to change the way this works right now. We should see how everyone else feels about this, and maybe the comish can look into changing the rule depending on what people say.

I think changing it right now is possible, but I'm not sure how fair it is to do so mid season. While I understand the frustration and see how it would definitely help Barr08 it would not help those who won the two ties we've had thus far. The problem with ties is when it comes to looking at standings ties really count more like a loss for all involved. I guess if everyone in the league votes in favor of changing this rule than we could do so, but like GMK has suggested it might be better to wait until next season to make the change. I'm open to people's feedback.

I'm definitely not recommending we go back and change what has already happened. I believe it should be changed going forward. I'm fine with those two losses, as long as we are learning from our mistakes.

The rules of a Fantasy league should be a composite of how each member of the league feels FF should be played and scored. What do the rest of you think about the tiebreak rules? It looks like many of you feel we should wait until next season, which is fine.

Personally, though, as a long time and serious FF player, this rule has stuck out to me as ridiculous since it happened the first time. I believe that the league should reflect the rules of the NFL as much as possible. Ties are part of the NFL, as they are part of almost every other professional sport.

From a fantasy perspective, I consider the players who you choose to start much more important than those you choose to sit. I mean, this seems obvious to me - you have a pool of players, and you start and sit based on matchup, current streaks, etc. Being penalized for who is on your bench just seems silly. They're on your bench for a reason - you, as the manager of your team, made the active choice not to play these players.

I would love to debate this further if anyone thinks it's worth it. If not, I'll quietly go back to my corner, and we can totally move on!

I'm fairly positive that the way the league is set up I can not change the rule without changing the previous games because the system adjustment will retroactively affect the entire season. It's like the ESPN support guy telling me I could add the two IR slots and it wouldn't change past games. Yeah right buddy, it did!

That's why I made the post above about possibly needing to wait until next season. I think it would be good to take suggestions and questions from everyone's experience this season and then make league adjustments next year based on the feedback.

Don't you mean you need to learn, from these "mistakes", about how to choose better starters? :p

Wow! Ouch! Zing!, that hurt didn't it! ;)

Hey, what can I say, someone complained there wasn't enough smack talk in our league. :D

I don't think they were saying one should talk smack over a silly technicality. Perhaps I misunderstood

But it makes sense that changing it now would impact the league's standings retroactively, so I withdraw my request - that isn't the way this game should be played. I guess I'll look at it as a ref making a bad call and blowing the game...twice.

Now when you go and respond that way it takes all the fun out of it. Drats! I was just trying to poke some fun to lighten the mood. Ok, *hands in pockets* I'm sorry. *drags self to corner and dons dunce cap* I'll be over here until you guys need me. :(

I know I'm no fun. I'm a sore loser - which is why I don't plan on losing for the rest of the season! I may tie 8 more times, though.

Okay, I've set up a poll on our League's main page that asks about whether games should end in a tie or if there should be a tie breaker of some sort to determine a weekly winner. Please take the time to vote there so we can get a pulse on what everyone in the league thinks would be the best thing to do next season.

I just noticed this morning that the previous week's tie between miller high life and thegoldenmackid is no longer a tie but a win for miller high life with a score of 120 to 119. I guess ESPN continues to update stats if there are errors. I'm not sure which player earned the additional 1 point. Crazy huh?!?.

Sorry GMK :(

Congrats MHL :)

Congrats.

I think stats aren't finaly until early Thursday morning right before the waivers go through.

Sweet. It's very strange that they don't finalize the stats until this late in the week.

So another week of making HORRIBLE starting decision. Cutler & Olsen on the bench. Was going to change them, but decided to sleep in.

rhett7660 - I sure hope I win this one.

maflynn - Looks like turning down that trade was a mistake.

Seriously Pretzels, I was counting on you to beat rhett7660 to help me get a one game lead. I don't know, but with personnel decisions like that you may want to consider firing your head coach or GM. :p

Ha. I would fire the GM, but he handles other day to day operations on top of the team.

You should be good as long at Romo doesn't go off like Cutler.

The last four weeks have been a rough road for me. Game against imaketouchtheme for a 2 game lead in the division, then back to back weeks against the other division leaders, followed by this week against rhett7660.

*edit*

EXPLETIVE!!! 20 (or so) points on one play...ONE PLAY. Romo better stop it...NOW!

Great job Pretzels! You pulled out the win. It's so hard to root for Dallas to win and yet for their players to not do well in fantasy. The whole game I was thinking "give the ball to Tashard Choice and Felix Jones!" :D

Sorry to root against you rhett7660, but this division tie of ours has been going on for too long. Of course I'll probably lose the next three straight now that I've said that.

As you can see above the high score of the week was posted by yours truly who put up 172 points. The highest scoring player of the week was Kurt Warner with 43 points. Yeah, yeah, I know, he was on my bench. Hey, who would have thought he would throw 5 TD's against "Da Bears!" No ties this week, but several close games.

Week 10 in the NFL is the last bye week and it's also the beginning of Thursday games. So make sure to get your starting line up set early if you have players that are playing before Sunday.

Another friendly reminder that the trade deadline is November 25th, so if you have any final moves you want to make then you've got two weeks.

Maybe you should keep Warner on your bench in case you tie someone!

Just a friendly reminder that 4 or 5 of you haven't updated your rosters, and games start tonight.

I would like to particularly point out that my opponent, jessica, has a number of empty slots.

Remember, it's way more fun if everyone tries!
