we will have a 24 hour slot to run the event in - that way it's better for everyone
oh ok, that's better then. sounds good

edit: once again the technology is failing me. Today the sensor lost the signal after 3.58 miles, somehow got it back for about .3 miles, and then lost it again. The result is my 5 mile running being cut to under 4. This is getting old, fast. What's the point if the sensor isn't going to record my whole run?
Do you frequently change songs while running? I have hit pause sometimes when changing songs or just trying to get the screen to light up to see where I am at and losing some distance. It is also fairly easy to pause or end the workout when you fiddle with the iPod while running - but that may be because mine is in a case already and the arm/wristband when running so it take alot to get a response.
How do you get Nike+ to record calories burned? On my Nike account it's says calories are N/A for my runs? Is there a section to enter your weight?
it's not just the cold - it's the silly way the nike+ works for the mile competition. Of course you're going to pull something if you sprint out the door in freezing weather. The only way to run fast in the cold is to do a nice long warm up so your muscles are ready for faster running.
yeah, I hear ya rick. I think it's clear that this technology is not good enough to be a serious training tool if you're really concerned about times. it is fun and a good motivator though.
You sure, I looked on nike + and it said I couldn't manually enter runs. You can add them yourself, but they won't get added to the challenge stats.
You can always taunt the members you might have beat saying you would have had more miles if you had your sensor sooner
D
Well, you could always warm up with a Free workout, then end that and start the mile as a new workout.it's not just the cold - it's the silly way the nike+ works for the mile competition. Anyway, my Nike + came today, so I would like to join the competition. Nike + name is DKersten. I am excited!
right, he didn't mean you can add them to the nike+ site, just that you can list them here and keep your own record of the real total. That's what I do - I've kept a paper log for nearly 10 years now, and even with this nike+ I still record all my runs on paper.
Good news: My nike+ worked for my entire run today! yay! In an effort to avoid further mishaps, I'm going to try just not turning it off and hope that the connection stays more consistent (and that the battery lasts longer than a few weeks!).
hmm. My run today was reported as 8.02 miles. But on Gmaps Pedometer (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/), it shows as 7.21. I understand that the nike+ isn't perfect, but that's too much to tolerate. That's off by about .1 per mile! Now I'm wondering if all of my runs have been off.![]()

I ran close to nine miles today, but the nike + only counted it as 7.23. I calibrated it after the workout (I didn't have time before it), tomorrow it will be much more accurate (I hope!). It also didn't help that it turned off when I tied my shoe at the end and then did 30-30s for another 7 minutes that it didn't count.
Am I entered in the competition?
...
if you didn't get an invite either via email or on the nikeplus site, then you haven't been added to the competition yet. Liketom has to add you, i think
Ok, I guess I am not in yet then, should I pm him?
have you calibrated it? that always helps, but yes mine isn't that accurate either. but yours is off in a good way![]()
yes, I have. The funny thing is that after I calibrated it, I ran a fast lap, and it got reported as .22 instead of .25. So if anything, I expected the nike+ to under-report, not over-report mileage.
