Uhhhh....anything else you need to know? I just got my Nike+ at the start of this month and it's the absolute BEST thing I've ever gotten to motivate me. I can NEVER in my life ever recall saying or thinking "I get to run today!" :D

Hi all!

I'm new to the forum and have logged about 100 miles with Nike+ (although I have run more than 400 miles since last December when I started).

Please invite me to the challenges. My Nike+ ID: dylanb

Cheers,

Dylan

I'd be interested in joining up. I ran a lot my Junior year of high school and lost 70 pounds in the process. My horrible schedule forced me to stop in college and I managed to gain almost 40 of it back, so I am slowly trying to get at least 30 off and get back down under 200. I got a Nano and Nike+ back in July and ran from early Aug to the end of September. I've been too busy to get out and run the past month or so, so I have been doing a lot of work while walking on my treadmill inside. I don't want to screw up my pace so I don't log it. I hope to get back outside and doing my 5K runs pretty soon. My nike+ name is JCricket and feel free to send me any invites or whatever.

If they ever make a Nike+ for rock climbing, I'll join your team! Unfortunately, I don't think the current technology will accurately measure vertical distance covered.

wow, thanks for joining everyone! glad to see that more people on Macrumors are out and about running with Nike+. i also think it's a great product.

feel free to join my team (Twood) :D

OK - I added everyone above (FastangV6,jimmydreams,dylanb,JCricket) - join the teams you want - even though there is a current numbers discrepancy on the one challenge the miles are competitive - hopefully it stays that way.

Finally getting more interest - I bet it is the run for your Mac challenge...;) About halfway through the month - good stuff everyone. Keep it up.

thanks for adding everyone ziwi :)

everyone keep it up  :apple:

I can't find any of the 'invites' to teams or anything. I tried searching for Twood on the challenges, but that resulted in nada.

Am I not looking in the right place? Thanks in advance!! :)

I would like to enter these challenges?

once ziwi adds you to the challenge, you get an invite in your email. make sure you give me the right nike+ id, or your email.

if you give him your nike id, it is case sensitive

I tried again with the email - the nike+ id is case sensitive so if it is not right it won't go through...email is more forgiving.

As we move forward there will be more opportunities for events.

Looking forward to next year - I want to set multiple annual objectives for folks of different levels to join...

Perhaps a 250 miles, 500 miles, 1000 miles and maybe even a 1500 mile challenge as the goal for the year for folks who would be in a range.
If you sign up for a 250 and beat it early then I can add you to the 500, etc. but I want to gate it so that there are not too many folks in the wrong challenges.

I was thinking of having an annual team challenge as well.

Other than that we should continue with monthly team challenges and the odd day event for individual challenges. If needed perhaps some quarterly challenges for those needing a shorter timeframe.

How does this all sound? Any ideas for events are good as well as just having a 5K every month could be boring. ;)

sounds pretty good ziwi. you seem to be on the right track. maybe we'll get more feedback from the newer members also

I'm in for any and all challenges. I think it keeps your interest up, and anything that helps get me off the couch (and away from my keyboard) can't be a bad thing.

I agree about mismatched challenges. Keep the groups somewhat even to make things interesting.

Also, I'm JUST starting to run. I'm on a 'couch to 5K' program that runs over 8 weeks...after that I can work on speed and distance. So far so good!! I try and 'run' at least 3 times a week, although at this point it's about 50-50 walking/running. It'll come to me, that I'm certain.

And since I'm new to all this, I'm fairly unfamiliar with some of the challenges that are out there....I see TAG games, US vs Europe, etc. LOTS of imagination in some of 'em. The biggest drawback is that your miles don't post immediately to your challenges....you have to wait a while and I HATE waiting!!!

Later....I have to go home, have a meeting with some construction people and then....RUN!:p

Joined up 2 days ago and still haven't had any time to run! Argh!

well hopefully you'll find time soon ;)

Hi,

Been a long time reader of Mac Rumors but only just found the Nike+ thread. You lot have inspired me to join!

Got bought a Nike+ last Christmas and have only used it 6 times! Really want to get out there and get in to better shape. Never really been a runner (always cycled and swam as a kid) but I've got the kit so want to give it a go, plus its a lot less hassle to change in to running gear than get the bike out :)

My Nike+ ID is Benga101 - sign me up. I'm counting on you lot to keep me motivate :D

I intend to start running next week - are there any beginners challenges starting soon? I've not been in good shape for years so take it easy on me :)

Hi Benga101,

glad to see that you've gotten yourself a Nike+ kit. i'm sure ziwi will send you an invite to the challenges, so be sure to check for it in your email.

if you want a beginner's challenge, there are plenty that you'll find on the nikeplus.com website. but don't be scared with our challenges. you are on a team in ours, so you're not alone. you can join my team, or the other one if you choose, it's up to you.

but we have a few different team challenges. i hope you enjoy them;)
