I’m sure some old timers here like myself were probably with other popular Apple forums as well.

For some reasons i gravitated to MR and almost 16 years later, I’m still here!

Happy Birthday, MacRumors! Thanks for the content you have provided over the years and the opportunity for us Mac fans to question, comment, argue, joke, and reflect.

I joined in July 2002. Would have never guessed I've been here long enough to see you move on from milk to solid food.

HB MR! What a great forum you are, it’s fantastic what you built!

It would be nice to have:

- An AMA with the team
- The most commented news
- The most read news
- The worst mistake
- How is the relationship with Apple
- Some funny anecdotes about the members or the team

Congrats! 🎉

No Mac related announcement merits a mention? C'mon!
I was focused on new product categories, so I considered the Mac to be 1984. However, after seeing your comment, I decided to add in the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

Happy birthday MR!

And long live good ol internet forums. Social media like Twitter, Facebook and their "discussions" just don't cut it for me at all.

Happy birthday! MacRumors has been part of my life since the beginning! Thanks for your hard work!

Happy Birthday MacRumors 😀
... remembering most of the announcements personally, I admit, that I am getting old... 😎
It is one of my oldest bookmarks - but, you know, entering ma.. at the address line is enough to get here.

Happy 24th Birthday to MacRumors!

MacRumors-Banner.jpeg

MacRumors was founded by doctor-turned-blogger Arnold Kim on February 24, 2000, while he was earning his medical degree, and it has since become the world's most popular Apple-focused news website. Fittingly, we share our birthday with Apple's co-founder Steve Jobs, who would have turned 69 years old today.

MacRumors has been around for many major Apple product announcements, including the iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and more:
(We've had such a long run that some of the images are broken in these!)

Thank you to all of our readers, volunteers, and everyone else in our community. We look forward to continuing to share the latest Apple news and rumors.

Happy Birthday, Macrumors. I truly appreciate the joy you have brought me over the last 24 years. I look at the website every single morning.

My only wish is people in discussion boards had more civil and thoughtful discussion about Apple. We may not agree with everything they do, and there should be vigorous discussions, but try to be kind your other rumorers. We are still a community with interest in Mac rumors.

Thanks again, M.R.!

Happy Birthday, MR! :)

I first discovered this site when I was looking for information on Macs in general, as at that time (autumn of 2005) I really didn't know that much about them. A friend had recently bought and was loving her new iMac and so I wanted to learn more about things Apple in general as well as what she was so excited about..... Surely, just like with Windows, there were hassles and problems up the wazoo about which people were complaining?

I ran a Google search and came upon MR, at which I looked and was interested enough in to return to day after day and then when I realized that OK, I was getting seriously interested in a Mac for myself and had a few questions, I registered so that I could ask those questions.

All these years later I still vividly recall what captured my attention at MR the first time I looked in, and subsequent times after that: it was the friendliness and genuine sense of community among the participants, and I was especially struck by the fact that most members were happily chatting about their Macs and the interesting things they were doing with them rather than complaining about this or that or the other thing. Where were the complaints, the issues with incompatibility with this or that software or the OS itself and such? Each time I visited I was struck by this. I kept returning to MR because I couldn't believe this: wow, people really loved their Macs?

That in itself kept drawing me back to MR, but there was more: how helpful members were when someone was experiencing a problem or had a question. When I was ready one day I joined this site and I am still here, with no plans to leave. :)

Sure, a lot of things have changed since 2005, but when I run into a snag with one of my computers or iOS devices, first place I look is MR, to see who else has experienced this and if they've found a resolution. I also enjoy the variety of subforums in which to interact with other members in a different way that has nothing to do with computers but which makes a huge difference, too, in the feeling of "community."

Happy Birthday, MR, and kudos to all of you guys behind the scenes who are keeping everything moving and flowing smoothly -- thank you!

i think i first started visiting here around 2008. not an OG but been visiting for a long time.

my first apple product was the original iPod Nano but I don't think i came here back then. my first Mac was the late '08 unibody macbook redesign and my first iPhone was the 3G so i guess that's about when I started coming here. i remember when the iPad launched and it was just a big iPod touch. antenna-gate on here was fun.
and the ipad which i love is still just a big ipod touch.

do you remember how people would flip if you criticized apple on the forum?

times have changed. I would say it's now acceptable.

I admit I have a love hate relationship with MR…enjoy the rumors and knowledgeable comments, that keeps bringing me back. Not so much a fan of the ignorant opinions.

But this is your birthday… and I’ve been reading daily since 2003 so I showed my appreciation tonight by upgrading my account. Here is the next 24 years of add free MR.

first Mac. 128k mac. latest MBP 16 max
first iPhone. V1. Latest 15 pro max
First iPod. V1. Latest whatever the last one was, 512 gb
first iPad. V1 Latest 10 inch IPad Pro M2
First Home Pod. V1. Latest V2
First airpod. V1. Latest Max
First Vision. V1 AVP

A lot of purchasing decisions most after reading MR. Where were you in 1984 when I needed you? Smiles.

Thank you.

Happy birthday MacRumors!

I'm not an OG, but I've been visiting this site for quite a while. I discovered it in Q4 2009 and finally created an account almost a decade later.

Also, I've been using Apple products since 2000 (the year MacRumors launched). My introduction to Apple (as in, actually using Apple products) was the Power Macintosh 5000 series computers (used them at school back in 2000-2005). The first Apple product I owned was the iPod 5G (got it in 2007).

Impressive lineup with the exception of the newest addition, the AVP. I have to say that I do not understand this product at all and the way Apple positions it.
I've heard a lot of rumors that Apple is quite satisfied with the current price of the AVP and has no intention of changing it in the near future. If that's true, it will never be able to replace Apple's iPhone and become the next big thing. At $3,500 to $4,000, it will never sell in volumes that would generate anything close to the sales that the iPhone does, even though it is three to four times more expensive.
