iPhone OS 4 will work on the 3G. Get your facts straight. The 3GS was pointless.

Are you being serious? This is why I always get put in "time-outs" because people like you make some stupid ass comments... so I'm going to try my best to abide by forum rules. Firstly I stated that The 3G will not have MULTITASKING and the 3Gs will... Also, I said NOTHING about the OS itself much less the OS not working on a 3G. Get YOUR facts straight.

I felt sorry for all the fools that waited in endless lines to grab a 3G. I walked right into the store the next day, traded money for phone and walked on out. But yeah, the 3G was not a good phone at all. Dropped calls PLUS a processor that lagged horribly when playing a game as simple as Solitaire. Ouch. For people that play a lot of games, I can understand completely why they'd want the faster speed of the 3GS. Try playing Plants vs Zombies on the 3G. Its awful. Much better on the 3GS. Phone functionality is just as awful on both though.

You were pretty lucky. I tried this approach, but the store employees were surprised that the line was just as large the next day as it was on release day. So I ended up waiting in a pretty long line even on the day after launch.

I haven't had any problems with Plants vs Zombies on my 3G, though. Works fine, no noticeable slow-downs... what kind of problems do you have?

No last minute leaks?

I can't believe there haven't been any last minute leaks...
No night-before shots of an iPhoneHD bolted to a table?
Maybe Apple got a handle on the situation.

I upgraded from 3G to 3GS; and the improved speed as the best part. I couldn't stand to use a 3G afterwards - so slow by comparison.

Yup the iPhone 2G and 3G has the exact same hardware (so slow). I tolerated the iPhone 2G for a long time since I was on T-mobile's network (unlocked) and edge was slow anyways. But I played around with my friends iPhone 3G and it felt the same as the 2G iPhone (hardware wise) and it was so slow! Only difference was that it had 3G enabled. Anyway I bought an iPhone 3GS sometime last year (moved over to ATT for 3G) and it was miles faster than the iPhone 2G/3G.

I remember while we were on a road trip and needed directions, I used the iPhone 3GS (pressed the home screen button from safari to get to the google maps) to do a quick search and gave the directions to the driver) while my friends iPhone 3G was still "loading" google maps.

And since we didnt need the directions anymore, my friend tried to exit google maps by pressing the home screen to get to Safari (so that he can resume surfing the web) and while he was still stuck on google maps to exit back to the home screen, I was already back on safari loading up my 2nd page, lol.

16 hours to go!

thanks to gizmodo, Apple *might* be even more secretive ...

usually by this time there will be some information (except the original iPhone launch) ...

I wonder what apple going to do with MBA even tomorrow's event will be iPhone HD event ...

I agree. Where are all the last minute rumors? I was really expecting to see some.

Your friend must have a bad iPhone. I have no problems at all loading google maps or safari on my 3G. Always has been and still is very fast. Did a quick test with a friend who has the 3GS and his is only slightly faster.

+++++++++1 !!!!

I always get put in time-outs too when I call someone a dou#$bag, they got mad at me last time so i censored myself, but yeah you're right, dumba#s questions should give a free and unrestricted ticket to reply with a stupida#s answer. lol

I can't wait until the 4th-gen iPhone. I almost have enough money for it and then it will be my phone all throughout my college education.

Boy does it look cool. :D

Unlimited Data Plan

I have a 3G, that's 2 yrs old now.
When I buy the Iphone HD in June, if I choose to keep the $30 unlimited data plan, does that mean it's a 2 year contract and I can not after "4 months" decide to downgrade to the 2Gig plan?

Doesnt mean that at all. You can change plans all you want. You just cant go back to the 30 dollar plan once you leave it. And also if you want to tether (raped by ATT pricing) you have to have the most expensive package. Want unlimited texting? Another 20 dollar rape fee. Seriously, texts are data, wtf. Save the monthly fees, dump ATTs idiotic texting fees, and get beejive app. You're welcome!

I think we were meant to be best friends :D

Preorder question

If I preorder the next iPhone can I request a delivery date that's later? I won't be around for a few days near the 18th and I don't want FedEx to return it to Apple, nor dump it at the door. But I do want to preorder to secure it.

Thanks if anyone can share.

No, there was nothing wrong with his iPhone 3G. Its just that the 3GS was so much faster. Maybe he had alot of apps installed?

Seriously? There's been constant leaks since late-April.

basically what we meant is, with in last hours you can pretty much have the specs and other details.

with the current leaks, you have not seen capacity, CPU or other things

the current assumptions are
it is going to be similar to iPad specs; even the gizmodo leaks the specs may not be the same as tomorrow official announcement specs ...

Exactly... I think people forget that the S in 3GS was supposed to stand for Speed. It really is much faster, and I can see why they are limiting the multi-tasking part of OS4 to the 3GS and up.

I have high hopes for the A4 CPU in the new phone ;)
