1799!??! they over charge for everything.... it will be like theiphone... and apple tv... they'll drop it in 6 months

Sony SZ and TZ models push into $2000 and even $3000. And the TZ's use slower CPUs, smaller screens, and they're still thicker and heavier then the MacBook Air.

Thank god they didn't update the Apple TV hardware wise, I just bought one off eBay (stupid gamble I know).

I'll benefit from a nice software update.

MacBook Air looks sweet, but can easily be snapped in half, or so it appears.

That has got to be the most ridiculous price I've ever seen.....no optical drive, one USB port, less specks than a Macbook for $1799.00....this is nothing but pure unadulterated greed.

It was clear that this was going to come in around that price, as you'd have to pay a premium for it over the ordinary Macbook, but slightly less than the Pro.

This looks like a glorious piece of engineering to me, and I would seriously consider replacing my 12inch Powerbook with one of these, but I'm gonna have to go with the 15inch Macbook Pro, as I can't compromise on the tech specs I'm afraid, as I'll need it for video editing.

I just know that I'll be sat there on the train to work one day with my 15" MBP, and someone will sit next to me with the new MBA, and I'll start to cry a little that mine doesn't look quite as sexy.

you guys realize there's an entire world of non-mac fanboys out there that are business professionals, and 1800 dollars for a slim, ultra portalbe laptop is NOTHING right?

Forum posters are NOT representative of Apple's customer base. I can just see the business person who makes 300k - 1m a year salivating over this.

Get over yourselves. The MacNerd Fanboy market isn't their target audience.

No, you're wrong... Mac Nerdy, creative and wanna bee hipsters are their core audience for computers. I can't honestly think of one large company that uses Macs and or have an IT department to work on them.
