i do hope eventually Apple will release an :apple:TV with Blu-Ray. My parents are currently looking for a blu-ray player and I have a bunch of movies on my laptop. I think this would be perfect...but Stevo needs to get over that "bag of hurt" first

If Apple make the 17" MBP's battery as fixed, they've lost touch.

A typical working day, away from the office can last all day, and then into the night. That's 12-16 hours. No matter how long-lasting they make the battery, it's not going to beat the ability to being 1 or 2 replacement batteries.

C'mon Apple. This is beautiful form over function once again. You can do this to us because we have no alternative supplier of hardware. It's bullying. You do what you want and expect us to suck it up.

I know the 17" fixed battery is only a rumor, but I've seen so many ridiculous Apple design decisions -- loss of Firewire, loss of matte screen, fixed battery in MacBookAir, fixed battery in iPhone -- I've just lost my cool with Apple.

its called an external battery.

I really hope against all odds that a new Mac Pro is released and that the price is nocked down a few hundred. A $1999 entry level Mac Pro would be great :)

Looks exciting. Everything on the list seems fairly plausible, but we won't get all of it. Add in the will it or won't it be a big one because there is no Steve Jobs and I reckon this is the least predictable key note for a while.

:apple:TV imo doesn't need Blu-ray (it's a transitory business model--Blu Ray will not be around 5 years from now--we all know it's going digital--come on man)--

1. what it needs is HDMI to DVI support and all other HD support (how you're going to pick and choose people's TV's is beyond me when you sell a $200+ accessory--you don't see Sony or Nintendo doing that--HD is HD stop being narcs for the film industry)

2. it needs to buy Boxee (or emulate the experience but given the amazing work by those folks--why not just buy em--they've worked very hard--give em their rewards)

3. give the unit pure Hard Drive usage (stop this silly sync moves BACK to my PC business, why pay this sort of money for something that doesn't house my movies singularly??)

4. add games/apps similar to iPhone/ iPod Touch (I'm a Game exec--casual gaming is the business--for every Gears of War--there's a Monopoly, Tetris or Uno just killing those guys---hence Wii outselling 360 by huge margins)

--those simple additions would make the :apple:TV a KILLER APP for the average American family and serve the goal it should have had in the 1st place--converting more people to the world of ITunes and Apple hardware/ software.

I took the decision a few weeks ago to give myself a nice christmas present, a new 24" iMac. But when after doing some research I found all about these rumors. Wow I hope so much that a new model will be presented tomorrow, with a graphic card update. I will be ready to order as soon as it comes out on the apple store.

28" version? I doubt it. But these guys at apple might have some surprises for us. I can't wait for tomorrow. Is the keynote broadcasted anywhere on TV or on the net?

Steve Jobs probably didn't do the keynote ever since he saw that Simpsons episode that had Bart Simpson mocking someone very similar to Steve Jobs and Apple and kissing Bill Gates on a pile of money.

Any "new" product will not be shown at MWSF if Jobs has anything to do with Apple. He is the kind of guy that must have the spotlight to introduce anything new. And he wouldn't allow another person to show it off.

With that said good rumors this time around. Looking forward to it.

Wow, I'm shocked....
I always expected Macworld to start January fifth, hence I expected the Keynote to start Jan fifth, 9 AM SanFran Time (which is an incredible 9!! hours later here in Germany)
But now Macrumors says its TOMORROW, exactly 24hrs later.

NOOOO

I am most looking forward to a Snow Leopard demo. iPhone Nano would also be interesting if it happens.

Mac Hardware - well, there are several models due for an update, but Apple don't seem to have any big new ideas on that front for last few years. Johnny Ive needs some new blood on his team to get things moving again.

The transition to Intel was only 3 years ago you know.;)
I'd say Apple has come out with some very nice stuff since then.

Steve's not going to give keynotes forever, so IMO now is a good time to step down and let others take the stage. He's still there "creating the drama" and it's a good thing he can teach others before he retires.

Well of course I assumed it meant something along the lines of being a fan of a particular thing but then wouldn't all of us on here be considered "fanboy" but the definition given described what it meant in detail... but thanks anyway!

I didn't really realize it until I read this round-up but there are a lot of rumors and potential announcements a brewing for this Macworld :D

Could someone possibly describe what a "fanboy" is? I read it a lot on here....

It is like someone who blindly accepts and praises everything Apple does even the negative basically.

I am really excited like i used to be 15 (7 years ago). That's partly to do with the fact I have exams right now and just love procrastinating. . .

Anyway, if that Mac Mini is about 2GHz, has a removable SATA drive and can take 4GB of RAM, I'm buying.

MacMini + VelociRaptor ;)

I REALLY wish for a media-server. And not just a NAS that houses a bunch of files.

Consider my situation: We have a MBP, with accounts for me and my wife. We both have our own iTunes-accounts. How could we use our content in AppleTV (for example), while simultaneously allowing each of us to sync our libraries to our iPods? There is no simple solution for this.

The idea of streaming the content does not appeal to me because I would like to access that content independently of the laptop. So I would need some kind of media-server that runs 24x7 that could stream the content, while allowing us to sync that content to iPods and so each of us could add content to our libraries.

There is no solution for this. Surely Apple is aware of tis problem?

software only

What's the betting that there are no hardware announcements tomorrow - it's all software based? Maybe with the switch away from Macworld they'll only do hardware announcements when Apple want to do them themselves.

We could only be seeing talk about Snow Leopard and the mythical cloud based iLife. That would be controversial.

You do realize the odds are against that right?
