Please let there be a new mac mini.I will be extremely disappointed if a new mini isn't released.:(

I think that every one of these will happen at MacWorld. The only one that I hope doesn't happen is the Cloud idea.

And see... No netbooks or tablets. We might even have to wait for the next generation of notebooks before we see anything like that.

Yep, I do. There might even be software updates for the iPhone. But there might be no hardware until the end of the month.

The Mac Mini is practically confirmed (at least the closest you can get till it comes directly from Apple), the iMac is a strong possibility, and mention of the Mac Pro could happen. Also there's the possibility of the iPhone nano which I'm rather indifferent to. Then there's the announcement of Steve Jobs going to take over America.

Ok...one of those was not real...yup you guessed it, the iPhone nano. :p

I may actually cry if there's not at least an updated iMac tomorrow. I've been waiting for 6 months and don't think I can wait any longer...

Just my guesses....

New iMac and Mac Mini - NVIDIA Based - Yes I think we will see these. I'll bet the mini will be missing an optical drive and firewire though. It reduces cost, size and forces people to buy their movies from iTunes if used as a media center PC. I'd also guess it will have display port and HDMI and that's it for video connection. I think they will put the AppleTV to bed and just offer the Mac mini for less money sans the optical drive and AppleTV will simply become an app.

17" MacBook Pro - Fixed Battery - Maybe. I don't know about the fixed battery, but there could be a 17" revamp. I bet the rest of the line remains the same. No price changes. No Apple netbooks.

iLife '09. iWork '09 - The Cloud - While this is a possibility I'd expect there to be local counterparts. I can't imagine these apps as ONLY cloud apps. Maybe as an option but I seriously doubt they will be ONLY cloud apps. Remember how you couldn't get your Dot Mac email? Yeah, Apple is in no way shape or form ready to deliver anything "cloud exclusive".

Snow Leopard - Yup, more previews.

iPhone and iPhone Nano - Maybe 'push' notification will finally come to the iPhone? It's already 6 months late. My guess, it won't be ready this week. I call bogus on the iPhone nano. We'll see.

Mac Pros - Yup, they sure are do for a rev. Expect display ports for the new displays. No Media Server. Also no Tablet or PDA. That's what the iPhone is for.

No blu-ray anything from Apple. Like I said, just my guesses.

Probably the most sensible predictions yet. I agree 100% with everything you have said.

And on a more general note, cloud computing will not be ready until everyone (globally) has a decent internet connection. By 'everybody' I mean 70% approx is of the population of each country. Until then, its a pipe dream. And the idea of Apple being able to host online services as well as MS or Google is a fantasy and even those 2 are not perfect.

as long as

I do not care who presents it as long as they have an answer to why there is no firewire connection on the new laptops

I hope I'm wrong. Really do. Let's wait and see…

Maybe that's why SJ isn't doing Macworld - he's going to be the new CTO for the US.

Yeah that's where I got the idea, from Mykbibby's article, certainly an interesting theory, maybe then he can work on improving the infrastructure of American broadband so they can make iLife and iWork cloud based :p

Looking forward to seeing some more of Snow Leopard.

Hope this iWork "Cloud" thing is only an add on as opposed to a replacement for the traditional one...

Same here, i hope everything will happen except for the stupid Cloud thing, i really dislike that idea.

Tick, tick, tick...

Well I for one cannot wait. I am hoping for the Mini to be goooood and if there is an iPhone nano then may be looking at this too. I am glad that I've been patient with the Mini... after all the rumors about it being EOL'd I am now just counting down. :D Go :apple: Go!

My predictions (or more likely my whimsical hopes) for MacWorld:

The themes will be wireless and automation, or perhaps simply wireless automation.
iPhone's bluetooth - will finally be opened up: stereo headphones, wireless synching, wireless keyboard, etc.
iControl - the third party app we've heard about - will be released, along with simple hardware for retrofitting much of your existing switches, outlets, etc. for home automation
Some new, simple method for remotely turning on/off your desktop/laptop will be announced to help with the increasing streaming activities (e.g. Simplify Media) of the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Some new, simple (hopefully wireless) way to play your iPhone games on your TV, using your iPhone only as a game controller. Perhaps it will work through the Apple TV or even an Airport Express, or perhaps through...
My most absurd hope/prediction - Apple releases an actual amplifier that can power regular speakers, one that does everything a regular receiver does - including surround, balance, etc - plus serves as a media storage device (has a terabyte of space), and wireless synchs with your iTunes library. Perhaps it will replace the Apple TV.
Lastly, they will have finally reached a deal with the one band that has not yet had its vast catalogue appear on iTunes. Yes, Quiet Riot. And Phil Schiller will close the show with the surviving members playing an acoustic, Jack Johnson-style version of Cum on Feel the Noize. RIP Kevin Dubrow.

Seems like we will get the first four rumors:

(1) Mac Mini and iMac
(2) 17" Macbook Pro (although the battery thing makes me think it is a 17" Macbook Air like someone else said in the other thread)
(3) iLife and iWork update (long overdue!)
(4) Snow Leopard Update

The Cinema Displays and Mac Pro seem to be not ready yet, the iPhone Nano thing is not happening, not with Jobs, and these Tablet rumors are not concrete enough yet.

:apple:TV imo doesn't need Blu-ray (it's a transitory business model--Blu Ray will not be around 5 years from now--we all know it's going digital--come on man)--

1. what it needs is HDMI to DVI support and all other HD support (how you're going to pick and choose people's TV's is beyond me when you sell a $200+ accessory--you don't see Sony or Nintendo doing that--HD is HD stop being narcs for the film industry)

2. it needs to buy Boxee (or emulate the experience but given the amazing work by those folks--why not just buy em--they've worked very hard--give em their rewards)

3. give the unit pure Hard Drive usage (stop this silly sync moves BACK to my PC business, why pay this sort of money for something that doesn't house my movies singularly??)

4. add games/apps similar to iPhone/ iPod Touch (I'm a Game exec--casual gaming is the business--for every Gears of War--there's a Monopoly, Tetris or Uno just killing those guys---hence Wii outselling 360 by huge margins)

--those simple additions would make the :apple:TV a KILLER APP for the average American family and serve the goal it should have had in the 1st place--converting more people to the world of ITunes and Apple hardware/ software.

Agreed. Media on disc is so 90's. Most people don't care about Blu-ray quality and are just fine with DVD and VOD from their TV service provider. Until DVDs completely replace DVDs as the only purchase option, there will not be widespread adoption.

Funny. People complain about "cable" monopolies, yet have no problem with the government monopolizing an industry. The government can't even keep our road infrastructure up to date.

I disagree on the Blu-Ray thing, granted its not a blu-ray thing to show media in 1080p but everyone who I show decent quality HD 1080p on a normal sized TV in most homes are amazed by the difference. If blu-ray is to survive it needs to drop in price on the media and players to replace DVDs.

Actually, my complaint about "cable monopolies" is against the government, namely the FCC. Perhaps someone could do away with the regulations that currently exist preventing cable companies from having to rent usage of their lines to new start up companies therefore causing start up cable companies to lay their own lines potentially creating a monopoly.

How is iLife and iWork long overdue? Didn't the latest versions come out about 15 months ago? I'm pretty sure they were released just before I got my MacBook (Nov 2007). I would think they aren't "due" for an update until later in '09 and they release iLife '10 and iWork '10.

Nail on the head. 1080p looks amazing but DVD quality is good enough. I'd be happy with a quicker download and smaller file size that comes with DVD quality over 1080p.

Honestly...I'm more excited for this keynote than previous one. So much more mystery surrounding this one.

I agree, with the previous few events we've seen leaked images of products beforehand, so far not with this one.
