My question is who puts these banner-covered signs up?

Never in MacWorld history has any of them thought to peek behind the banner as they put it up?

-They are probably not interrested at the cause.
-They don't want to lose their job.
-Looks like they are taped on the side, probably by Apple people.

You peeked your Christmas gifts didn't you.. ;)

Maybe it's Steve Jobs after putting on a lot of weight and growing some new hair. Maybe.

golden years of Apple

So whats really wrong with Steve. Why wont he talk for the last time? Why cant he properly say goodbye to Macworld.

Can Apple really survive without Steve Jobs? I think were really in the "golden years of Apple, its going to be all down hill from here, once steve is slowly out of the picture"

Al Gore's backside, my backside.

People that prep shows are just technicians checking light, camera, and sound. They don't call in the actual TALENT for a simple speech. ... does Al Gore qualify as talent? It's -30ºF up here tonight.

Maybe one other

You know there'll be an iPhone Nano Skil! It will be available only for Sprint and Verizon as well.

Honestly, the only thing I hope to see at this MacWorld is an update to iLife and iWork. Maybe a new little thing here or there, nothing else.

I think your right. There will be updated apps for consumers and a small upgrade to the iMacs and Mini. Thats pretty much it. With a bit on the upcoming Snow Leapard.

For a long shot Id say "one more thing" of an updated AppleTV that does 1080p video (after all the hardware specs have not been updated on it in two years now) but I doubt it.

We know that SJ won't be giving the Keynote.

However, we do not know that he will not appear at all. He may make a video appearance, or walk on the stage at the end with one more thing.

Gut feeling is that he won't be there at all. Apple is full of surprises, so who knows.

Some would say that the "golden years" of Apple has already passed.

That the real golden Apple was in the late 80s and early 90s.

Al Gore would actually have the star power to fill Steve's shoes... although he wouldn't have his design sense. Sigh... Oh Steve, why must you be so irreplaceable... surely there must be some other brilliant, brooding, perfectionistic, fiercely private, design-loving techie out there with awesome communication skills. I think Apple needs to hire the same people who pick the Dalai Lama to find someone with the same spirit as Steve for a spare.

The banner is covered by a white sheet this most be an omen!!
White=Whitebook!
These banners appear only able to have letters and maybe a small picture on the side. I am guessing Snow Leopard...
They arent actually covered in a white shroud, but simply folded over in half so they can be uncovered easily. Therefore they are actually twice the size and white means nothing.

I've been using Apple computers for well over 2 decades now. I honestly think the last 5 years have been the best Apple has ever seen, with Apple stores, iPhones, iPods, machines that can actually compete with their Windows counterparts. Respect from the rest of the computer world to boot. Its been getting better and better.

You are right about the size (good eye), but the banners are white.

True, I forgot about the iMac and Mini updates. Right about now they have to come, and I do hope the Mini and Apple TV get shoved together so I don't have to rack my brain on how to turn the Mini into a suitable media center, or the Apple TV into a suitable "TV connected" computer.

I predict that it is in fact Al Gore, speaking about the environmentally-friendly aspect of the new MacBooks and MBPs. He is on the Apple board, so it's not THAT far fetched... Time will tell.

Sure today is cool with the iPhone and such. No disagreement there.

However, when the first Mac was introduced in 1984, is was so advanced compared to anything else on the market. IMHO, it stayed that way until Windows 95 was introduced. That's why I would call that period the golden years of Apple.

I passed by Moscone early this evening, and found preparations for a new window banner. Now this could be nothing more than a banner for Macworld, but last year there was a similar banner with the "Something in the Air" teaser :-/ moscone_south_banner.jpg

Hey Arn, is the Mac Rumors Live site accessible from the iPhone?

Just wondering, as I'll be on the road about then.

.

:D One can only dream. right

seriously, IF <- and that's a big IF! If there is a nano, IF is was available on sprint, and IF it ran all the apps available in the app store. I would buy. Cause then I would finally have an iphone, not have to worry about breaking my contract and paying $200 to sprint. I am up for an upgrade time, and while my palm centro is great, it does not work with Mobile Me (email does, not contacts or calendar), so I have to use iSync with a special Palm OS Conduit. took me 4 hrs and I was up till 2am to get it to work. thank God for the mac versions of the palm os desktop, conduit and mac isync - because the palm desktop for Windows never worked, and I really hated putting my personal contacts on my work's exchange server just so it would load to my phone.

I'd love for that to be true, if only to see and hear the reaction of the crowd. The cheers/applause and excitement for Steve would be unparalleled I'm sure. :)
This would definitely be cool.

IMHO, it would be a nice way to ease Steve out of the picture.

Keynote by Phil. Guest appearance from Steve with one more thing and ...
