The real iMac upgrade is next year, just like the M2 Pro and Max were stop gaps. Looks like Apple hardware engineers need a little bit more time to flesh things out. 27 inch iMac owners, give it a couple more years. Then again, I think Apple dropping support for all Intel Macs next summer.

I hope you're right, but when John Ternus said the 24inch iMac is "the perfect size and resolution to replace both the 4k and 5k Intel-based models" it sure seemed to put the nail in the coffin for a new M3 27" iMac.

Instead they want us to go Mac Studio + Studio Display, or MacBook Pro + Studio Display. After all, why sell a 27" iMac for $2000, when you can sell the 5k screen alone for $1600?

I don't think they sell enough iMacs to justify a larger size

That too

It's too bad that Apple continues to run its different hardware divisions as individual fiefdoms instead of one big company. It's obvious that the Mac team(s) had no idea that everything else in the lineup was switching to USB-C. That, or they're just trying to bleed-off old inventory and future sales of the iMac will quietly transition to the new USB-C peripherals when they're ready.

Such a powerful processor paired with 8 GB of RAM is just a waste of time - literally. Even my Lenovo 710S (looks like a MacBook Air, Windows 10 Pro, H.265 and VP9 hw-acceleration) came with 8 GB RAM standard, but that was 7 years ago...
Apple has always been stingy with RAM, and will remain so forever.

They always say that. We all thought Apple Silicon topped out at Max then they introduced an Ultra SKU. Apple is not gonna Oborne themselves.
