I have an orange field case. The field case has a more protruding lip around the camera hole. I rarely turn my flash on but after reading this i gave it a try under my desk where it is dark just as a test. Sure enough....tons of orange wash in the photo. I took off the case and ran a black sharpie around the inside lip of the camera hole.....amazing difference. Picture is clear as day with no orange tint.

Magpul Executive Field Case

A few more quick question: other than the pmag ridges and the open camera cut-out, is the field case any thicker or heavier than the executive? Does anyone have a preference for the heft/feel of either one? Is there a particular model that has better overall comparability with the 4s? I thought I had finally found a case (executive) and was getting ready to order until I saw the field case, not to mention the colors look different between photos. 
EDIT: Speaking of colors, is the OD closer to black than green? It's looking like that in all of the pictures and if they are somewhat faithful to what it actually looks like, I may opt for it over the black.

The Field case is slightly thicker. The front "lip" also extends slightly further. The newest version of the Executive case fits the same as the Field case. I had both and I like the Field case more for the slightly extra thickness.

a) suit iphone 4s
b) lip has been raised to allow for better lay on the table design?

I don't know if it has been revised (as I don't have an original) but there is definitely a slight lip that would protect the screen when laid on the table. I'd guess 0.5-0.75mm or so.
It also works just fine on my 4S. Magpul seems to have widened the opening to account for both 4 and 4S styles.
I would say....no, having used both.
I used the smoke NGP for quite a while and it was a good case that fit well.
For me, the magpul had a poor fit around the volume buttons and felt wierd. I feel its claim to fame is its cheap price only. Not convinced is truely protective.
I emailed Magpul right after I posted pictures which was a week ago 11/3. And I just received a response from them today. Terrible response time in my opinion. In their email they offer to send me another case, with a return shipping label for the old one.
But after a week of use, I've noticed that the area that wasn't sitting flush has looked a lot better. It's actually sitting pretty good.
Overall I like the case, hell for $10+shipping cant really complain. Except for 2 things.
1. it still has that oily feeling to it which I really hate. Its slipped out of my hand numerous times because of the oil/greasy feel.
2. customer service isnt the best. I emailed them a week ago, which pictures to show my defected product and they only got back to me today (a week later). That's pretty bad in my opinion. And at the end of the day, I'll definitely wont be a returning customer because of it.
Just got my executive field case last night and after fitting it on my 4S, my initial feelings are mixed.
Case is nice and slim and has a fairly minimalist design. It does provide an ever so slight lay-on-table design and has a nice balanced feel between slick and tacky. The fit however did leave something to be desired. Like someone else mentioned, the fit specifically near the volume buttons, was a little off and not as tight as everywhere else. Looking at the phone head on, you can tell there's an ever-so-slight gap on that side, or a tiny bit more of that edge of the phone showing. Hopefully it settles as the other person mentioned theirs did. Maybe I'm just used to the Slider for my 3GS where the fit was PERFECT.
As it stands, I'm fairly happy with the case, but not ecstatic....and not about to end keeping an eye on what else is out there. Debating picking up a Speck Pixelskin HD on the way home and seeing how it compares.

I didn't even know there was two cases tbh. I've been looking at reviews for the 'executive field' case if that's any help (probably not)?

The executive field case is the older design. The field case is the newer one.

Ive used the older design, havent seen the newer one, so Im not sure about the differences.

The camera cutouts are different and the design ridges are different, apart from that i cant tell if there are any differences from the pics.

Not true. There are new and old designs for both the executive and the field case. They are two completely different styles.

So I finally recieved my executive case today after using a $.70 monoprice special for the past week and I was truly surprised with what I found. This thing is very lightweight. The one I got fits my verizon 4s like a glove (no gap in the volume area in my case) and feels amazing to hold. With all the crap cases out there, I find it hard to believe I paid under $14 for this with shipping. One thing to note: there is only a very slight lip around the bezel. Because I was so impressed with this, I'll probably grab one of the field cases to see how it compares to the executive. If this case made it into large retail stores, I can see it becoming very popular quickly.
