1. Want to have the full P-Mag rib look or feel on back.

Yeah, if you want the look/feel of the PMag, definitely go with the Field case.

Executive has the PMag grip on the side, but the back is relatively smooth.

I looks like your white balance is off, as the Foliage case is not Foliage colored in that pic.

Foliage is a specific color, and that pic does not reflect it - even though under normal room light, it does look foliage colored.

What about the bigger flash cutout? I would think because the cut out is bigger you would have less problems with flash washout. I mean your stuck either way doing the sharpie trick but with the larger cutout I would assume you will have less wash out. It would be kool if someone with both could try this. P.S. I plan to buy Orange for me and Pink for my girl. Which is why I bring up the wash out issue.

I have the black Executive Field case with no flash issues. I haven't tried the Field Case, but I do know optics and read some reviews.

I think there are 3 points to balance here.

1) The thicker any case, the larger the flash/camera opening needs to be. It is simple straight line optics. The Field case is thicker so the opening was made larger than the Executive. This is by design. The current executive case flash opening is larger than the original Exec. version earlier this year...that is why you should only buy from Magpul direct. The 1st version has a tear drop shape that was a flash problem. Since the Field came after the Exec, it was fixed first, I suspect. Amazon or eBay can be a dumping ground for old cases.

2) Color of the case. I read reviews that the orange Field case, not just the executive, has a flash problem: orange color in photos. So for both, a sharpie may be required to make the rim black. So pink and orange may be a problem...for both cases.

3) how often do you really use the flash? I almost never do.

Would they have the latest version? Which is why I'm more aimed at getting them from the official site. Don't want to get an older version.

My question was, let's say we have one of both cases. Do the sharpie trick to both, than test to see if larger cutout vs smaller cutout, which better minimalizes if not completely eliminates flash glare.

Well, step up to the plate and order both and report back to us!

Here is a review of both, and directly on the orange Field...that has a flash problem in low light.

Good luck deciding...it can be difficult.

Quote from above article, Nov 28, 2011

One thing to note however is that, with the orange color in the new Field Case, I did notice some flash bleed (light from the camera flash distorting photos) in low light photos when utilizing the camera’s flash. This was not present in the black model I also tested, so my recommendation would be to stick with the darker colors. I did discover that if I used a black Sharpie marker to color the camera ring of the orange case, the flash bleed disappeared. Normally, having to use a jury-rigged workaround such as this would be a big issue with me, but on a case only costing $9.95 that is darn near perfect otherwise, I’ll accept it. Besides, I’ve seen plenty of $30 and up cases have this issue.

I've been having some warping with an executive case, but I can basically fix I on the spot by bending it the other way. Not quiet as well firing as when I bought it but still grips the phone like a glove. I think I might buy another executive and a field case just in case magpul decides to axe this venture for some reason.

i got my exec case delivered from botach today, so once i'm done with work i'll report back on which case i received.

ordered from them because they were the only ones offering the black one for 9.99 no tax no shipping. magpul didnt have it in stock a few days ago, but now i see that they do.

I just purchased two Field cases from the Magpul site. $26 for both not too bad. An orange and pink. I will report back...

Love the Magpul cases, easily the best cases I've used so far. I wonder if there's any chance they make a bumper, that would be sweet...

I like my Magpul Executive Field case, it's thinner then I thought it would be. Only issue I have is a slight bulging out of the case where the Volume up/down buttons are. I just ordered the full size Field case too, these are nice cases for $10.00.

It bubbles because the iPhone +/- volume buttons are not seated properly. Try this: with your finger roll the Magpul case from beneath the volume rocker (starting on the back of the case) and continue to roll the rubber to the top lip. Try a few times. It stretched a bit on my case and minimized the bubble to almost disappearing...not really noticeable anymore. also work the volume buttons a few time to help seat.

Thanks for the tip. I tried that and it didn't make any difference. I can see that the case is bowed in that spot even with it not on the phone. I'll contact Magpul and see if they have a case that isn't bowed.

sorry that didn't work. Here is what my Exec looks like:

I don't see any silver showing by the volume switches on yours. Mine's got the Antenna band showing on the upper left.

mine was like yours when I first installed it. Could see a lot of the metal band near the volume.

But it worked itself out and has not returned. Have taken the case off 3 times since Tues.

I just got mine today, hopefully it will work it's way out. I do like the feel of this case much better then the silicone case I had before. I ordered the full size Magpul Field case too, that case looks a little heavier duty. I'll post here again when that case arrives.

I picked up one from eBay for my boyfriend, but I am certain it is the first gen exec case. Whoops. Oh well.., the magpul site is down right now anyway.

wanted to comment that the botach ones are indeed the new ones.

cheaper than from magpul since its no tax, and got to ny from cali in about 3 or 4 days.

Does this case cause screen protectors to lift around the edges?

Nope. It is impossible for it to happen.

The front lip is raised to give lay on the table but doesn't overlap the screen. So it is possible to install a screen protector without removing the case.
