Magpul Executive Field Case

I'm using the Field Case and I was getting the same thing. I tried the Sharpie trick on the inside of the camera/flash opening and it lessened the flashback effect. However, it didn't get rid of it altogether. Just an idea.
I have the same thing with flashback and the black Executive Field Case. Like mentioned, it doesn't happen in all scenarios. I was able to reproduce it consistently though a few minutes ago taking some pictures of my dog. I swapped the case on and off a few times and every time the case was on I got it. Weird with it being a black case. Sucks because I really do like this case.

I've been looking to purchase these cases since I had my iPhone 4 but just never got around to it. I had originally wanted the Flat Dark Earth (FDE) color to go with my black iPhone 4. I just thought the color combo fit really well together.
The 4S came out and I upgraded to the white model. With the cases being so cheap I decided to order 3 different colored cases (black, orange, and FDE).
I've ended up using the orange one on my white iPhone and I gave the FDE to my brother who has a black iPhone. Overall, we've both been really happy with the look, fit, & quality of the cases. I was expecting to have some flash issues with the colored cases so I tested all 3 cases on both iPhones for any flash issues and to my surprise, I noticed none.

Has anyone with the executive notice after a few weeks of use that on some edges you can now see the steel band on your phone? Mine still holds my phone firmly but the fit isn't quite as nice as when I bough it.
I took the case off for a day and put it back on and now it fits almost like it did when I got it. Go figure.
Just got my field case and I'm rocking it now. I'm very impressed!

I am really liking this case. It looks like it provides as much protection as the likes of the Speck Candy Shell but much slimmer. Really good in the hand, slides in and out of pocket nicely. I like the volume rocker and the power button. For $10 including shipping I paid for this is unbelievable.
I just bought the field case in orange, and I had the issue with camera flash washing out the pictures (I have a black 4S). I used a Sharpie to color in the inside of the camera hole, and that seemed to completely fix the issue. I really like this case... the materials feel good, the buttons feel natural and easy to press, and it looks really cool! It's very slim, so the phone almost feels the same as if it were naked. Can't ask any more from a $10 case. Highly recommended.
The flash issue is the only thing keeping me from buying this case. But the sharpie trick is still in the back of my mind. Does that trick really solve the problem on the orange cases?

As r.j.s said, the Field Case is just a tad thicker on the back, since the ridges you see on the sides extend around the back of the case (whereas, on the Executive, the back is mostly flat).
The Sharpie thing does work. In my experience, it's doesn't get rid of the flashback COMPLETELY, but it does lessen it's effect. While this bothered me at first, after using the phone (and camera) for a couple of months now and seeing what my usage is like, I don't use the flash enough to worry about it. I like the case WAY too much to let the flashback issue keep me from using it.
I got the black executive field case on Tuesday. Wonderful case!
No flash issues that I've seen. And I'm sensitive about that.
I'll check some other situations. But so far it is good.
But honestly, with the camera HDR (high dynamic range) on, I rarely need a flash.

I know others have posted pictures in this thread, but I just got 2 more of the Field Case colors in today and thought I'd do a side-by-side so you guys that are interested in them, can get a feel for the colors.
Under regular room lighting: Black, Foliage, OD Green, and Flat Dark Earth
Under a flash: It's amazing to me how much the color of the Foliage changes. It goes from a greenish-gray color under room lighting to a gray color under the flash. No wonder people are so confused at the colors sometimes!
And a couple more closeup shots under room lighting.

Ok, after continuous disappointment from other cases I've decided to go with this one. A few questions before I make the purchase.
It seems like the people that bought off the Magpul site got cases that better fit the phone and did not bubble a bit where the volume rocker is. So this is the way to go right?

Buying off the site is the safest way to get the most recent version. I had a very very slight bubble at the volume switch. But it worked itself out in a few days. Very tight snug fit.
I have executive case. In Black.
Your choice, executive or field. Pure field needs larger flash hole because hole is thicker since case is thicker. I have no flash issues. Exec. has 1mm lip for lay on table. I feel it is enough. This case is very protective.
Buy exec first if you want slim. If you don't like buy field next. They are inexpensive. Or buy both and save in shipping.
That was my thought. But I found exec is perfect for me. Placing flat card over front across screen and you will see there is no chance for front to ever touch table. Front lip is very stiff and strong. Exec almost feels naked but more solid and protective than any other case I've seen for its size. Replacing my NGP with this case.

PS: the executive does not need to be any thicker for protection, IMO. For back & sides this case compares with any case.
The only reasons I see to get the Field instead of the Executive Field are:
1. Want to have the full P-Mag rib look or feel on back.
2. Wish to have a bit longer standoff lip on the front. Exec is 1mm. Very stiff with no 'give'. I think that I read that Field is 2 mm. No more than that.

What about the bigger flash cutout? I would think because the cut out is bigger you would have less problems with flash washout. I mean your stuck either way doing the sharpie trick but with the larger cutout I would assume you will have less wash out. It would be kool if someone with both could try this. P.S. I plan to buy Orange for me and Pink for my girl. Which is why I bring up the wash out issue.
