I just got mine today, hopefully it will work it's way out. I do like the feel of this case much better then the silicone case I had before. I ordered the full size Magpul Field case too, that case looks a little heavier duty. I'll post here again when that case arrives.

Yes I am curious about how you compare the two. I think that the field is not really any thicker but rather appears so since the ridges extend across the back. meaning the the main back is the same thickness.

Of course there is a added ridge around the flash. probably causes some of the problems.

The extra lip height may be useful. But it may feel uncomfortable near the ear or just with the finger.

Too bad magpul doesn't actually give dimensions. On their site.

Let us know.

Will do! On a side note, I'm an old school, long time phone hacker from back in the day. I've done everything from basic hacks on the first GSM phone's to complete flashing. It seems those days are gone now with the likes of phones out now. My first and so far only big conquest was adding some of my old school ring tones off my old Motorola phone's. That took all of an hour or so to figure out, so now I'm becoming a case collector!

Case collecting can become additive. I think this executive Magpul might be the holy grail however. It feels so good in the hand! I think Magpul out Ives, Johnny Ives :)

Checked my Incase snap on. The protruding lip on that is smaller than the exec. Think that I'll stick with the exec. For now. What your review.

I'm interested to know if I got two defective cases in a row or other people just don't mind that the case does not fit perfectly on the side of the volume buttons. I notice a few other people had this issue too so it's not an isolated 'case'.

I've got 4 of the Field Cases in all the "dark" colors. Every one of them fit perfectly. I'm not sure why you keep getting cases that have the bulge near the volume buttons, but I haven't had that issue.

I will say this. When I first put the black one on, I noticed that I could barely see the band where the volume buttons are. I thought, oh great, this one's got the bulge problem. But after it was on my phone for a couple of minutes, it went away and hasn't reappeared. As I said, none of the other colors have had this problem out of the box.

I'm sorry to hear you keep having this problem, though.

*edit* I forgot to mention all mine came directly from Magpul.

I bought one of the new style cases from an Amazon seller and my case fits perfectly. It's snug everywhere on the phone and I have no issue with the volume buttons. Maybe you're having extremely bad luck?

Love the Magpul cases, easily the best cases I've used so far. I wonder if there's any chance they make a bumper, that would be sweet...

Probably not. They aren't an iPhone accessory maker - they designed the cases for their staff and choose to sell them.

Yeah I figured as much, I wasn't too optimistic.

Anyone know of a bumper that feels similar to the Magpul cases?

I couldn't help myself by buying one from Botach. I was trying hard not to buy one but everybody in here raves about it so I had to pull the trigger. I'm in Indiana so we'll see how long it takes to get here and I'll report back regarding which version (I think there's only 1 field version tho). So excited!

Mines been on for a couple days now and it's the same as when I first put it on. Slight silver from the band showing on the left side. I emailed Magpul but haven't heard back from them yet. Despite the small bulging gap I really like this case.

Here is a YouTube video that compares the Field to the Executive. At time starting at 1:43 it compares them side by side. There seems to be a good size difference.

Anyone can verify this?

You can see that the exec still has a bit of tear drop shape at the flash: the original exec had a much smaller tear drop profile that caused flash problems.

That sounds like mine. It is very slight and I'm starting to think this is the case with all Magpul cases its just that some people aren't as neurotic as me. Enough people have mentioned it now for it to be clear this isn't just a few defective cases.

does the power button break in at all?

theres no click on mine at all...

Yeah, it'll have a bit more give after you use it a bit. You can speed the process up a bit if you take the case off, then rock the button up and down with your fingers. For instance, put your thumb on the button on the inside of the case, and index finger on the button on the outside, then just push it up and down. It'll help loosen it up a little.

But yeah, the case will soften up and slightly stretch after you've taken it off and on a few time. (It doesn't stretch enough to make it not fit...just enough to make it easier to get on and off).

cool. i'll try that after a week or two.
perhaps i'll like the feel of it after a normal break in though.

i wonder if i still have my exacto knife from architecture school...?

If you google YouTube reviews of the Magpul and my photo post above, you will see that the bulge at the volume button is not common.

True enough, when I first placed my Magpul on my 4S there was a huge gap. I thought, 'oh' this is what some have said.

But after removing the case 2-3 times, and 'working' the area, trying to roll the polymer material over the front edge, it worked the 'bulge/gap' out to zero.

At least that is my experience. It is a very tight fit (good), but it fits very well.

Good luck. I'll post a photo again when I get time. But the video and photo reviews don't show the gap as being common.

I just received my Foliage Green iP4 case with the new camera cutout. Ordered it from Dsgarms.com... mailed out on Monday received today, Wednesday.

I have a ViPhone so I used an exacto and did a bit of cutting to embiggin the slot for the vibrate switch. Worked and it was pretty easy.

:D

It looks like dsgarms.com has new stock of the Pink, Orange, and Foliage Green (new camera cutout). The Black and Dark Earth may be old stock (ie: old camera cutout). I'd confirm with them if any are the old key hole camera cutout before ordering though.

What color is this?

I emailed staff on Magpul.com to inquire about the OD Green case that I wanted. It was on there at the beginning of the week, now it's not listed. I just wanted to know when they would restock... customer service replied quickly and said they're unsure when they would get them back in stock or not, but did suggest to order from a few of their distributors.

I ended up ordering from Brownells. They had the OD Green in stock and shipping was a little cheaper than Magpul's site. Ended up ordering the OD Green and Black. Hope I don't have any issues with the camera cutout or volume rocker. I'm excited for them to get here!
