I just ordered two of those (rectangular, not oval) off Amazon. Supposed to be here Dec 21-23.

This video from Amazon is very promising...
default.jobtemplate.hls.m3u8

I'm assuming they use a 17mm ball mount so I also ordered two of these...

Plan is to replace the MagicMountProXL magnet on two ProClips w/the ball mount.

PS: I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max w/Apple Leather MagSafe Case.

If you're referring to the charging ring animation as promising, that means very little. I haven't figured out exactly what triggers it, but my Chinese mount will show it at 9V/3W charging, but not when it's running at 5V/5W.

At the very end of the description, it says the newest version supports 15W charging on the iPhone 12. Other than that, I would've assumed that it doesn't. It says all over that it's 15W Qi (which is different from Apple's proprietary 15W charging) and never mentions 15W and iPhone 12 together. It looks deceptive, without actually stating anything outright false. Hopefully this is just due to starting with an older version and updating it for iPhone 15W charging, rather than tricking people into thinking that "15W charging" + "iPhone 12 magnets" = "the same as Apple's official MagSafe charger".

If this does actually charge at 15W, I would be very interested in getting one myself. Since it's Amazon and easy to return, I might just go ahead and try it too.

The round apple puck was never designed for a car charger. There are mounts that hold a 12 max fine without a case in this thread.

I really need it for a 12 Pro. I want one that will work without a MagSafe case. And not really needed for charging.

Just a quick note to let you know that I just received this charger from TIMESS on Amazon and am EXTREMELY HAPPY with the look/feel/function of it. 🥰 I have done some quick testing before installing it later this week in order to post these observations.

- The packaging and product quality looks like something Apple would offer as a 3rd party product. :apple:
- There is a satisfying grip when used with the Apple Leather Magsafe case. I have not tested w/o the case.
- it will mar the Apple Leather case with a 'polished' ring imprint, especially if you turn the iPhone horizontally while attached to the mount. This does not bother me.
- There is definitely a lower centering magnet. ❤️
- I get the magsafe attachment/charging animations when using the following (either port on the USB-C car charger)...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08G1LJ1M6
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088NRLMPV
...an Apple OEM cable also gives the animations with the same charger.
- The ball mount is 17mm.
- The thickness of the mount is comparable to the iPhone w/leather case. It does not seem too thick. It seems right.

The included vent mount looks like it will hold the phone closer to the dash than the low profile ball I was planning on adding to my existing ProClip mount(s). I'm leaning towards using the included vent mount at this point. ANY vibration, or optimal phone positioning might cause me to change my mind.

Hopefully long term use proves this to be a reliable product. Many thanks to the contributors on this thread who helped me come up with the best solution for me. :)

PS - I ordered two of these from 2 different vendors on Amazon. Both were supposed to be here by tomorrow. I was just notified that the second vendor can't deliver until end of January. So I cancelled that order and ordered a second from TIMESS, which is promised to be here in 2 days (regular PRIME shipping). ❤️🤞🤞

Just received the Zeera charger today 12/22. Ordered on 12/7. Came in packaging with no Zeera branding anywhere. Also came with non-branded two separate packages that have a smaller magnet ball mount that is not detachable that has adhesive with a smaller base. Also another magnet with no ball mount but just adhesive on the magnet itself. Was wondering why but the MagSafe puck is attached to the vent mount by another magnet. So the puck is interchangeable with these other two magnets.

IMPORTANT:

Seemed to be slippy at first with naked iPhone mini but remembered reading to remove plastic layer on the puck. It was hard to see almost like it wasn’t meant to be removed but it did come off to reveal a rubber ring on the puck. Be careful to not remove the rubber ring which is also adhered to the puck, while taking off the plastic layer. This allowed the rubber to make very good contact with the phone. It is solid. Some people saying it isn’t probably didn’t remove the plastic layer on the ring.

Vent mount doesn’t work for me because of the vent location on my car. So I am looking at ways to adhere it near my touchscreen in the car without damaging my dash.

I won’t be using the charging in the car because I have wired CarPlay. But I will leave the cord in the car as it can be used as a regular MagSafe charger on your desk if you need it.

I plugged the puck into an outlet inside, 5w brick (I do not have a 20w to verify), and did not see a MagSafe animation. And my phone screen was off. Just the same sound and wake up as my Qi charger.

Overall so far so good.

Update: I used the smaller non-interchangeable ball magnet near my car touchscreen and works great! It appears to be the same adhesive that was on my dashcam mount that I used in a previous car for a year, and the adhesive popped off with the mount leaving no residue. I guess we will see years down the road if I have to remove it again. Might not update you though.

DO NOT BUY THE ESR

I received the ESR Halolock Magnetic vent clip wireless car charger yesterday. So disappointed in it. It just will not hold my 12 pro max to the charger for any length of time. It just falls off during normal driving around town.

I contacted ESR to get a refund and send it back. They responded that they wanted me to send a video of it falling off before they would consider a refund! Total BS!

I put the round steel adhesive plate that came with the FITFORT holder on the back of the ZDAGO charger and the combo holds my 12 Pro just fine. I'm using a leather case with embedded MagSafe magnets but it's not the official Apple case.
The phone comes off of the charger with a simple tug and the charger stays where its supposed to.
Used with a 21W Aukey power adapter it actually charges too if that's what you want.

Weird, I have had mine for a while now and it holds my 12PM without any problem.

That is weird. I have a lot of speed bumps in my neighborhood as I live close to a school. Then I go on some dirt roads where it is a little bumpy. The 12PM just falls off for me. I tried with the Apple MagSafe case and without and have the same results.

I have my 12PM in a apple silicon case and I use my ESR all the time and it mounted rock solid. Must be something wrong with yours

We just have different experiences and expectations. Maybe the unit is defective? Not sure but the magnet is just not strong enough to hold the 12PM on for any length of time for me anyway.

Can you take a few more pictures of it? Those are the ones I have coming soon also. How’s the back where the cable plugs in? Also how is the vent adjustment thing look? Is the front of that a textured black plastic?
These look Great to me. Like the Belkin but black and with a hidden cable. Seems like a better vent clip if it actually adjusts the holding part to lock onto the back of the vent.

Does anyone
So I finally got the Chinese car mount. Was glad to see it fit the 17mm ball AMPS adapter. Installation was simple and this path is cheaper than the alternatives. (Around $20 give or take). Pretty satisfied with the integration with the Proclip. The magnets seem strong enough to do the job. Don't care about the charging since I use wired CarPlay.

Hi, do you know if you can remove the plastic circular fixation?
There is a screw
Because i want to use as Magsafe charger (although i know its not really quick charge at Magsafe speed)
Thanks

The connector for the USB-C cord has a satisfying snap when you plug in the included cord. Any other cord has less of a snap but feels secure.

The vent adjuster looks and feels solid w/rubber in the right places. It feels like the adjuster will stay tight on its own, but it remains to be seen whether the weight of an iPhone 12 Pro Max will cause it to loosen over time.

I would say the charger has a satin finish, and the included vent mount a slightly more matte finish.

The combined vent mount + charger will place the iPhone 3-1/8" (3.125") in front of the vent.

Thanks for getting the original pics from your seller in China. 👍 That's what turned me onto this mount.

I ve got also those Magsafe car mount from Aliexpress, it holds good enough
But i dont have Magsafe charging animation, they gave me a usb-c to usb-a cord
Do i need to buy another usb-c to usb-c through a quick charger lighter (PD) in order to get this animation or this is specific to each car mount model?
Thanks

Which one?
There’s been about 4 different ones discussed here.
If it’s USB-A you probably need a QC 3.0 charger.
Keep in mind that from what we’ve seen so far, the animation has nothing at all to do with how well the charger will perform.

Got my Alliexpress ones today, and had a bunch of errands so got to test it out. Came with a USB a to USB C cable. Charged the phone, albeit slowly. Added about 60% to my charge (started low) over 3 hours of errands (not charged the whole time as I hopped out occasionally). Held my pro max well, once I peeled the little plastic sheet off. There’s a little plastic sheet covering only the rubberized ring part and I didn’t even notice it at first, didn’t hold the phone well at all until I removed it. Afterward though it held fine, even through potholed Chicago streets.
Overall satisfied with it for the cost.

I got mine today from AliExpress.

It does hold my Pro. Max (in an Apple leather case) very securely and also gets the Magsafe animation to play when the phone is placed on it.

I ran a test and it only charges at 6.7W, 1.34A. So it must just be a spoofed NFC chip bringing that Magsafe animation out.

I had it plugged into a 20W Apple USB-C charger.

How "charged" was your phone at the time? How did you measure the charge? I just put one of these in my wife's car. About to go test it with my USB-C tester my phone is at 66% so we'll see how much it pulls. Haven't been able to drain my phone in a day to test it better.

Update: I just Ran a test in my car and the wife's car.

  • Wife's car: Outfitted with the unit above (from Amzon): Charging peaked at ~9w. Which if you figure in the inefficiency of wireless probably means the unit is peaking at 7.5w to the phone.
  • My car: Outfitted with an Apple Magsafe puck taped to dash. Peaked at ~19W which again counting the inefficiency of wireless means the phone is probably getting the full 15W.
Both tests were done with USB-C PD 3.0 PPS car chargers, while my phone was at 66% charged.

My phone was at 71% when I placed it on the unit. I used an app. called "Amperes 4".
