I am sure that Apple is aware of most bugs and complaints which devs have reported. They have probably implemented fixes and tested them internally. I wold guess they are taking the pretty obvious ones that are easy to fix and just waiting till they complete major issues. This being said, i really hope the whole OS becomes more responsive before public release.

Bug with dynamic wallpaper in multitasking, time to report bugs to apple for the third time today:

I don't think they'll release iOS 7 for iPad at the same time as it comes to iPhone. Seems likely they'll hold off until the October/November event where they'll announce new iPads "coming with iOS 7 for iPad." Depends how keen they are for iOS 7 to release across the board. I guess it would look quite bad when you can only have iOS 7 on your phone and your iPad looks like a whole different system.

I'm sorry, why? Nothing says that Beta software has to have bugs or has to crash. Mature (there have been numerous iterations now) Beta software nearing release is supposed to be almost bugs free, so the concern of many users is legitimate.

Betas, by definition are NEVER mature. iOS betas are released for developers, not for the general public, so expecting ANY type of maturity or any given bug to be "fixed", exceeds the scope of an iOS beta. Where did you ever get the idea that iOS betas might be bug free? That has never been stated, nor even implied, in any of the seed notes that I have ever read.

Betas, by definition are NEVER mature.

Betas can be considered "mature" after most bugs have been worked out. No definition rules that out, just like no definition of Alpha prevents anybody from stating that a certain Alpha release is "stable".

iOS betas are released for developers, not for the general public, so expecting ANY type of maturity or any given bug to be "fixed", exceeds the scope of an iOS beta.

Developers are supposed to work in a stable environment. Stability is expected in order for developers to work any issue out their software. So your statement doesn't make sense.

Notice also that Apple is testing out in beta an entire OS, not just packets of new APIs, which would be enough for development purposes along with interface guidelines. It's in Apple's interest to collect bug reports of iOS once it gets used by a number of people.

Where did you ever get the idea that iOS betas might be bug free?

Where did I state I had that idea?
Where did you get the idea that beta software necessarily has to have bugs?

That has never been stated, nor even implied, in any of the seed notes that I have ever read.

How could any developer state or imply that a beta software could be bug free?
For your interest, beta software can be bug free even without seed notes stating it is. Logic much?

On iPad it's woeful in places.

Five finger pinch gesture to return "home" still ends its animation very unnaturally and looks like it skips frames.

Keyboard is nowhere near as fluid as iOS 6, very often there's a delay or lag on the keys.

Rotating the device from portrait to landscape, the animation stutters from time to time.

There is a noticeable delay in using the swipe up gesture to activate the multitasking UI.

The multitasking UI itself stutters when "zooming" in to a selected app, but oddly never when you choose the home screen.

All on iPad 4 running beta 6.

iPhone 4s iOS7 beta 6

[BUGS] for me
- camera app crashes majority of times
- contact photos half the time blurred out on lockscreen
- calendar still bugged out with 1 day miss chance
- apps open i background restart on reopening them from multitasking
- bit slow with allocating RAM
- missed notifications disappear randomly from lock screen
- i got a bug with sending iMessage, when it's in msg app under a nickname send wont turn blue, if i go to compose new and select him again it does turn blue on same thread, but displaying number instead of name

[USEFUL THINGS MISSING]
- quick reply and quick compose from lock screen (similar to bitesms)
- toggle for 3g/edge
- mailbox account color labels (by inbox)

[REMARKS]
When they bought Palm patents, I immediately knew the look of multitasking.. And I was hoping so much they'd implement skype, facebook and such directly into message app... So we could choose where to msg based on online availability on certain network... Hope they'll do that soon enough :/

No bugs on my iPhone, but the fallowing ones on my iPad 3:

- Calendar app showing up as Real Racing 3
- Icons are sometimes on the wrong place when rotating the iPad
- Some pictures load forever
- Lags

iOS 7 Beta 6 was a "bug fix" so they've still got Beta 7 which will likely be the GM and fix any major issues, and a lot of minor ones also. I've generally found it to be a breeze running on my 4S and iPad mini.

My iPad 2 is SO buggy on iOS 7 beta 6! Right now every single time I unlock my iPad using a smart cover it will respiring due to "backboardd" crashing.

Yes, this is a bug Apple is aware of. In the meantime, you can turn the "Lock/Unlock" switch off in General -> Settings to disable the Smart Cover unlock.

Am I the only one who thinks that this is too buggy to be near release? And, I just opened safari and used the pinch to the home screen. It worked but then I went back to it and my device froze. The only thing that worked was locking it and pressing the lock button, only to find a "blurred" wallpaper and even trying to respiring by covering it with my smart cover and uncovering didn't respring! ... Am I the only one with these bugs?

This bug has been reported and Apple is also aware of it. I have the same problem for both. I think you can disable gestures in Settings to prevent the crash, but then you lose the swipes between apps too.

Apple has had the iOS 7 GM, for some time now (Betas that go to developers are always a few versions behind. So for example when Apple released beta 5, they probably already had GM ready because (of course) it has to be loaded on all the iPhone 5Cs and 5Ss :)). They wouldn't ship their new devices with a very buggy software (some minor things could still be there, but that's why you always have point releases.). As for the iPad, the first beta came 2 weeks after the first iPhone beta, so will probably be released a few weeks later with the new iPads (in October)

I really hope these things are fixed by the GM  I also hope that they bring back the visual effects to iPad 2 and 3, it looks ugly without the blur and the performance is actually worse than other betas. Am I the only one with these bugs? Sorry for another beta rant but there really shouldn't be this many major bugs this close to possible release

Well, I'm going to give you "It's a beta" comments because thats exactly why you see bugs, its a beta.

There are generally huge differences between the final beta and the GM seed, its been this way since I've been an iOS dev and that was 5 years ago when I signed up.

Developers are supposed to work in a stable environment. Stability is expected in order for developers to work any issue out their software. So your statement doesn't make sense.

But most of the environment people are complaining about is irrelevant.

Take the complaints about iTunes Radio, for example. iTunes Radio is 100% irrelevant to developers. iTunes Radio cannot be implemented in an app. General music playing can be. For example, with RunKeeper, I can choose a playlist I want to run with. Hence why Apple released a "quick fix" (beta 5 => beta 6, plus the config file) that fixed that... so developers could sync Music to their test devices with functions like this.

Somebody posted the other day about the alarm clock not working... apps can't control the alarm clock function. Thus, totally irrelevant to developers in prepping their apps for iOS 7.

While there are some OS issues that do affect apps that are still there, the vast majority of them that people are reporting are irrelevant to developers, and really things that are annoying people because they installed the beta on their device despite Apple saying not to and are too impatient to wait for the final released.

Its buggy and we can expect a few updates after the GM is released. Any new operating system always has fallacies.

I've worked with a number of beta releases over the years as both user/customer and also developer on the vendor side. Apple is probably right to warn casual users away from beta code, but at the same time, I'm sure that they want and expect app developers to put iOS betas on primary devices. They need feedback from real, long term use. In the old days, IBM wouldn't go to GM until they had a major customer go production on beta code. It is really a crucial validation that software is ready to release. Personally, I like Microsoft's policy of public betas, although I notice they don't do that for their phones.

Also, as a developer, I guarantee that there is no such thing as bug-free software.

I am concerned that iOS 7isn't ready for iPads. It seems to have a memory leak on my iPad 3; it's lag increases over time, and eventually it starts losing icons on the desktop. I have to reboot once or twice a week. This is the kind of thing that Apple can only learn about, and try to fix, based on heavy use and automated statistical and failure reporting.

Because I'm bored, here are some minor bugs I'd be surprised are still in final. they're 100% reproducible for me so have fun!

1. App Store > Updates > Purchased > Click on app to view details > slide from edge of screen as if to go back but don't let go, slide back to left edge so you stay on app detail page, now let go. Then repeat the slide to go back, notice the [All | Not on This iPhone] slides across. If you stay on the app detail page it moves across. If you go back to list of apps, that banner is missing.

2. Weather > have an active hot spot connection or call going > view city weather details > bottom of screen is cut off

3. Paging in Weather > if you tap to left or right of pager, you can move the pager quicker than the actual pages can keep up. So you reach end of pager without reaching the end of your cities.

4. Paging on home screen > tapping right of pager only works after the slide animation has finished (tapping on left works perfectly)

5. Turn wifi and bluetooth off so when you turn a hotspot if brings up a message > click USB Only > wait for hotspot banner to appear at top > quickly turn off hotspot and back on > the popup opens, THEN the banner disappears, and the screen shifts up leaving an ungrayed out area at the bottom.

6. Close all apps > open any 3, returning to home screen each time you open one > on homescreen, double tap home button to go into multitasking, don't scroll > close the first two at the same time > the 3rd remaining app has no window preview.

You also can't make a song as your alarm in the alarm clock. If you choose a song it will crash

Friendly reminder that it's been 3 weeks since Beta 6 was released, and that was an emergency fix for an iCloud issue. It's been a month since they released a significant beta update, and they've been working on it since then.

iPhone 5 - Verizon Beta 6

Deleting Voicemail - Buggy as hell
Mail - Unable to cut/copy/paste 50% of the time. No pop up menu shows up
iMessage - Still has a problem of not notifying new messages
Calendar - Looks crap
Everything else is reasonable for me

3 pages and only two posts that are actually constructive and list out some bugs/issues.

just because someone asked what the bugs are doesn't mean they're bitching. you dont have to get into an argument about whether betas have bugs, the semantics of betas, hwo its not general release but for developers, etc. give it a rest.
in the ios 7 forum i don't think i've seen a single developer post talking about app implementation, api's ,etc, really its just a place to discuss experiences about a software, a certain beta, or other issues. its time you guys accepted that even though the TOS might say its for develoeprs, with ios 6 and especially 7, the majority of the users infact are non-devs. and they WILL discuss general issues.

and those of you posting about how nobody should ask about bugs, or talk about bugs, or discuss bugs untill they see the gm, exactly what do you guys talk about on this forum? chances ar eyou also discuss bugs. except ones that are important to you. theres a good chance i won't see a post about some app you're developing. and if yo uare developing one, please do point us to it if its already on appstore so we can check it out.
