What are the chances of Valve releasing an Apple silicon version of Steam for Macs?
They won’t, Apple burnt them with the work they did in the Mac by dropping 32 bit support, it meant half their games would t work anymore so they ditched the Mac as a Steam supported platform. Plus they have the Steam Deck now.

You beat me. GREAT news! :) This just shows Capcom's and Apple's commitment and that the sales numbers must have been good for Village and 4.

New popular upcoming Mac games so far are:

Resident Evil Biohazard
Resident Evil 2
Civilization VII
Prince of Persia: Lost Crown
Assassin's Creed Shadows
Sniper Elite 4
Valheim
Frostpunk 2
Riven Remake
Wuthering Waves
Path of Exile 2
Kerbal Space 2
Hades 2

And don’t forget Control. They mentioned it by name.

OMG, was so hoping for raytracing support. Also AVX2 instructions wow, didn't even know it was possible due to copyright issues. That will make so many more titles work in Crossover / Whisky.

Yes, it's huge, First people said DX12 was an obstacle but Apple solved it quickly with GPTK 1. Then AVX2 became a bigger obstacle but again Apple solved that and ray tracing with GPTK 2.

I read that people have already managed to run AVX2 games like Hitman 3 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart or games like Diablo 4 with ray tracing.

Frostpunk 2 can be pre-ordered now and requires the latest Sonoma 14.5.

RE 7 will have a demo just like 4.

A great influx of new AAA games. Maaaaybe Apple is getting just a little bit serious about gaming finally. But, fool me for the 16th time....
I'm hopeful, but I'm not holding my breath, either.

A smaller company took crowdfunding money for Linux and Mac development and then, canceled Linux and Mac development and apparently, didn't refund the money.

When the market is consistent, then, I'll accept it.

I guess you're talking about Nightdive Studios and System Shock Remake. Not sure what their crowdfunding and failed Kickstarter goals has to do with Apple, other serious developers and the future of Mac gaming. Here we're talking about established popular major studios like Capcom, Ubisoft and Remedy, not some crowdfunded projects that was delayed for 7 years.

Robocop Rogue City finally works with GPTK 2... kind of. Still some bugginess with the intro cinematic, but the world displays correctly now. Performance on M3 Max is okayish, about 45-50 fps at High settings, 1440p Quality FSR (though FSR looks really nasty). Wonder if performance would be better on macOS 15 (running this on Sonoma).

This is the third year Apple and developers are showing commitment and bringing more AAA games to Apple Silicon platform so I think we're past the "fool me with one-time thing".

So now that Remedy is porting Control and Northlight Enigine is ported to Mac I wonder if they're going to port Quantum Break and Alan Wake II.
Alan Wake II maybe, but I think Microsoft has exclusivity to Quantum Break - it's not even available for Playstation platforms.

Epic payed for Alan Wake II and has exclusivity for like ever and Microsoft owns Quantum Break. Then let’s hope for Control 2 which will be co-developed and co-published by Remedy themselves. 😜

Too many things happen without good reasons. What happens if those games mentioned are the only games re-developed/ported?

There has been a huge contraction already in the video game industry. Seeing long-lasting, hard evidence will be much better than the on-again-off-again hope we've been given since the 1990s.

What will happen happens. It's puzzling that no matter what good news Mac gamers get year after year people still try to find something to worry about. Enjoy the good news while you can because we don't know if we even are alive tomorrow. Mac gaming is flourishing again with Apple Silicon. If Apple’s attempts fail there’s nothing you and I can do. Then we’ll have to adapt by buying a PC, console or handheld gaming device, just as people do today. So holding your breath or not doesn’t matter. Change will happen for good or bad regardless of our speculations. You decide if you want to be a part of it or not.

Yeah that game looks like crap with FSR on PC, so that isn't surprising. Have you tried using the native TSR instead?

I think folks are looking for more recent titles as a sign that publishers trust that the platform is worth spending time on upfront and not as an after thought (so give kudos to Ubisoft with AC:Shadows being a day and date release, but also give them jeers for not releasing XDefiant or mentioning Starwars Outlaws).

TSR on High gives me about 40 fps. However, FSR 3 Quality with Frame Generation gives me 100+ FPS (fake frames, but still) and honestly, doesn't look so bad? I can barely tell the difference between that and TSR. There is something i'm not getting though because yesterday when I first ran the game it defaulted to 1080p but again it looked and ran quite good, then I started fiddling with resolution and both performance tanked and anything less than 4k looked like poo, especially with FSR. But now when I run it (currently at 2000x resolution) it looks like 1440p with FSR Quality engaged, unless I start fiddling with the resolution settings again. Maybe something with FSR internal resolution, not sure. But it looks and runs really good right now, all things considered. Probably just gonna get better by the time GPTK 2 is out of beta.
