ODDADA, To the Stars and shapez 2 are released for Mac. Stellaris: Cosmic Storms is coming on Sep 10.

Because it's made by the Snowdrop engine people (Massive). Anvil is an older, visually less impressive engine too.
Erm, scaling tech like DLSS or FSR was always going to make developers lazy. Those cards have plenty of grunt, it is entirely up to the developer how to use it. Paying north of 1000 dollars for a card to use upscaling is hilarious and love the mental gymnastics of all the excuses that accompany it.

I just found out something really interesting. You know how people say the number of native games for Apple Silicon is so low and refer to the list on Applegamingwiki where only 300 games are listed? Well, it turns out that there are many more, in fact thousands more. That list is far from complete and includes perhaps the most popular games people have tested or bothered to add.

If you go to Steamdb instead the number of native games listed is now 5318. At first I thought they included all 64-bit x86 games too but at a closer look that’s not the case. I wondered how can old games before 2020 when Apple Silicon was released have native ports when there was no AS, but that’s of course all the old games that have gotten a native port later. The release date is for the original games. I checked a few old games and the oldest game Broken Sword 2 - The Smoking Mirror: Remastered from 1997 and indeed, they have native ports according to Steamdb where it says ”macosapplesilicon”. One reason for the misunderstanding is the lack of information in the game descriptions on Steam. Many times games aren’t even listed as 64-bit, even less so as native Apple Silicon ports.

Good to remember next time people say Valve doesn’t make a native Steam client due to lack of native AS games despite the fact that 73% of Mac gamers use Apple Silicon on Steam. 5318, not 300! Compare that with EA who made EA App native recently with only The Sims 4 for Mac.

Apologies if this is already known, Valorant is coming to macOS.

Actually great news I haven't seen being mentioned elsewhere. Valorant seems actually be more popular than CS2 with 6,839,379 all-time peak vs 1,818,773 for CS2. Another good news is that the anti-cheat software Vanguard won't be needed on Mac.

So it seems it isn’t coming. The dev misread Valorant for Vanguard. Pretty weak but that’s their excuse. Apologies if I got anyone‘s hopes up.

There must be some sort of cheating on macOS if they are bothering to port a version of Vanguard over.

The reason is explained in the screenshot and link I posted. PC gamers have started to use macOS VM and have ported PC cheats to Mac to avoid Vanguard.

Someone on reddit is claiming that RE has DRM now because of piracy (under 5000 copies of Mac RE sold.... Over 10,0000 non purchased activations)

I didn't think you could pirate app bundles from the app store.

Are there any stats for the number of copies sold on the Mac App Store or are those the iOS stats? Anyway, the App Store provides almost no DRM by default, it's up the the developer to integrate some basic receipt validation or something more advanced.

Even then, everything is going to be cracked one way or another, so the pirated copies will just disable the code the requires the internet connection.

The reddit post had claimed the numbers came from capcoms sharehold call. not sure if they are mixing ios with macos.

I'm just confused. If your using an iPhone, is it now always connected to Cellular or Wi-Fi. Even on Airlines, some have their own private wi-fi. I get the frustration with Macs and iPads since 100% of all Macs & iPads can be used offline.

Side-Note, Capcom leaked RE2 remake coming to iOS!!!!

Does anyone know if the shareholder call actually specified the number of games sold/pirated? 100,000 is a fairly high number.

On the plus side, it indicates there is a market for Mac games…if the price is right!

Someone later on mentioned that the game is free, you buy an unlock code to play the rest. So it is possible folks play the intro and never purchase the rest of the game.

It would be an annoyance in places where service is spotty with no WiFi backup.
