I mean you wouldn’t say ”Let’s hope Black Myth: Wukong, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 or GoW Ragnarök runs better because Cities: Skylines 2, Starfield, The Last of US 2, SW Jedi: Survivor or Hogwarts Legacy had bad performance. I would be cautious about Silent Hill 2 though since it’s made by Bloober Team who made The Medium.
We do hope that the three unreleased games you mention run better then the others you mentioned because it is possible everything we have seen shows those games running on top tier hardware with little to no testing of potato hardware.

Control is published by 505 games, the same guys who published / ported Death Stranding to macOS and iOS. So we can be pretty confident it will be one of the better optimized Apple Silicon titles.
👍
The Windows version of Medium running in GPTK had half the frame rate of the native version, and it's quite an heavy game even on Windows. Fort Solis is just beyond saving.
UE poor performance for the win...

How many of those 13,700 EA employees work on the EA app or 4,200 Epic employees work on the Epic Store? Frankly 79 people sounds like a LOT for a digital store.

Compared to what other digital stores, and based on what level of experience you have on that industry?

No Man's Sky's biggest update? They've taken technologies from the upcoming Light No Fire and have incorporated them in NMS. I wish they did a story driven game sometime with their engine.

All of those articles mention the size of the company. The article from The Verge also has a breakdown of employees by year and category (admin, games, Steam, hardware).

I still think it's strange to make a connection between an upcoming game by Remedy and some under-performing games by totally other developers. I understand if people would be cautious about an upcoming game by the same developer behind a badly optimized game, like Silent Hill 2 by Blooper Team who also made The Medium, but it's weird to make a connection between Bloober Team and Remedy like that.

To be fair, Controls Recommended requirements aren't enough to meet Alan Wake 2's minimum requirements on the same game engine.

Not saying Control is going to be a bad port. At one point Control was pretty rough to run (especially with RT enabled) and it had the first implementation of AI upscaling.

EDIT: looks like AW2 has lowered the GPU requirements (still technically higher than the recommended specs for Control but not as egregious).

Do you guys think Apple will release a "Magic Mouse Pro" or something similar that is more ergonomic/gaming-oriented?

I really doubt it - Apple seems perfectly happy to let others handle the accessories market for those not happy with their offerings.

No. They will probably make a Magic Mouse with USB C and if we're LUCKY a redesign that lets you use it plugged in. But I'm guessing whatever the next mouse they make is, it still won't let you press left and right click at the same time like every other mouse they've made for the past forever making it useless for gaming. Highly likely next mouse they put out is the same with literally just the port swapped out.

You should be asking where is Apple's mechanical keyboard.
I can see how an ergonomic gaming mouse with a great sensor can benefit gaming but a mechanical keyboard really has nothing over a regular keyboard other than the feel of the keys.

Uh Worlds is already out for macOS. Though I have seem some complaints that the graphics don't match what is available on PC or Console. I am downloading the update now and will give it a try to see if things have degraded.

It doesn't. I had the chance to compare the Windows and Mac versions on the same planets, and major selling points for the Worlds update are missing in the Mac version, like the improved water, clouds, and atmospheric effects.

In addition, the Mac version has a bunch of bugs and glitches on top of the bugs and glitches the update introduced in all version of the game, like the MetalFX issues @Nugat Trailers mentioned.

I didn't get a chance to run the game last night. Are we sure the new stuff isn't locked behind higher quality settings? Last time I played the game on my M1 Max (24GPU) it auto-selected fairly low detail settings, where I wouldn't expect the better effects to be enabled.

I'm sure. I had the game running on the same settings preset on Mac and Windows ("High" - minus the AA settings on Mac due to the MetalFX issue), and also tried "Ultra" in the Mac version.

EDIT: There are confirmations of this on the Steam forum.

Yeah I just tried, it does look like poo compared to the PC version. Wonder how long they will take to fix it.

The Metal Feature Set Tables pdf Apple issues has been updated, with the M4 being classed as Apple9, same as the M3 family and the A17 Pro.
For reference, Apple7 is the A14 Bionic and the M1 family, and Apple8 is the A15/16 Bionic and M2 family.

It's honestly not a real surprise, considering how closely the M4 came out, but note that a M3 Mac would be classed as Apple9 and Mac2, while a M4 iPad would be just Apple9.

(tl;dr, basically think of it as how the GPU identifies itself, so you don't have M1 Macs trying to run hardware ray tracing.)
