Ubisoft games are on sale on MAS. AC Shadows is down to $50 from $70 and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is down to $20 from $40. AC Shadows is cheaper on MAS now than even the cheapest Steam keys ever. Cheaper than even Steam Summer Sale.

of course PS Store still has it full price 😭

They are, yes. I was referring to desktop SoC vs Laptop. For Ex. an RTX 5090 significantly outperforms a 5090 mobile despite the same name.

Even though the M-series is a single ARM SoC, i would think that the chips on the desktops would have some advantage vs mobile.

Unlike Intel and AMD CPUs, M-series SoCs are not manufactured in desktop and mobile variants. The same applies on the GPU side, as mobile versions of dGPUs will be different from their desktop counterparts.

GTA4 never made it's way to iOS/macOS so I wouldn't be overly excited about 6 coming out anytime soon.

I’d guess never. Optimistically maybe 2030 lol
Not sure why you get likes on that as this would be a perfect title where Apple could throw in some money (same like Death Stranding 2), if not not sure but I am sure it will go the the Nintendo Switch so who knows. Thing is either release it the same time on PC or don't bother as it will not make money (or yeah except when it is on steam...).

And yet Apple hasn't thrown money to Rockstar games, or Kojima

Are you saying GTA 6 is going to flop? I'm not a GTA fan, though I understand its prior releases have been wildly popular
I think they mean the Mac version should be released at the same time as the PC version.

Ahh, I thought they were saying that GTA 6 wasn't going to make money.

I don't see why people expect (or even hope) that GTA VI will be available on the Mac when GTA V and VI were not.

We hear a lot of arm chair quarterbacking on what apple should do, but its clear the brain trust over in Cupertino don't seem to anxious to spend money on game studios. Maybe they will in the future but so far it does not seem to be a priority for them

I can see Apple spending money on iOS games but not MacOS games.

No question its a cash cow - all of the games on iOS are available on their app store. For Mac games, apple doesn't benefit (except for the few that are in the MAS) financially.

Well people probably agreed with my comment lol

Sure they could but will they? And will Rockstar or whoever even care to accept and go through the effort? Or be willing to take something Apple will find alright? It would be an amazing get for Apple to have GTA VI at the same time as consoles but I just don't think there's any possibility of that unless they spend what'll likely be way too much money for the prestige of it all.

Ultimate Zombie Defense for Mac is free on Steam.

A fun notice about Apple supporting Mac gaming, Digital Foundry complained a couple of weeks ago about not having new Macs to do in-depth reviews of HW and Mac games. They only had M1 Ultra and joked about loving Apple to send them new Macs. Apple now has done that so DF will do more reviews of Mac games and Mac HW in the future.

Good move. I hope Apple keeps engaging like this.

Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition will be released in just 2 days on July 17th on Mac App Store, Steam, Epic Game Store and GOG.

The game will run on every Apple Silicon Mac using M1 through M4 and running macOS Sequoia 15.5. It requires a Mac with 16GB RAM. CyberPunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will also deliver every major patch and feature update rolled out so far, including the latest 2.3 release, which adds a dedicated Photo Mode capability, along with new vehicles, and much more.

CyberPunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will also be able to take advantage of two Metal 4 features announced at WWDC 2025 — MetalFX Frame Interpolation and MetalFX Denoising. These two enhancements will not be available at launch, however, and will be released as part of a future software update.

Metal FX Frame Interpolation will allow for higher and more stable frame rates by generating an intermediate frame for every two input frames. When paired with MetalFX upscaling, this will let the game achieve 120 FPS on its "Ultra" setting. The MetalFX Denoising feature facilitates real-time path tracing, allowing for intricate graphics and lifelike environments.

CyberPunk 2077: Ultimate Edition also makes use of Apple's Tile-Based Deferred Rendering (TBDR) architecture by incorporating native Metal API support. This approach also leverages Metal's C++ interface and the Metal Shader Converter, which optimizes the rendering pipeline for Apple GPUs.

Developer CD Projekt RED is taking advantage of a ton of Apple technologies, including MetalFX upscaling, Spatial Audio with head tracking when using AirPods, dynamic HDR optimized for Apple XDR displays, and support for the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad. CD Projekt RED and Apple are also touting a version of AMD FSR upscaling and frame generation "optimized for Apple Silicon."

In the game, GPU efficiency is maximized through the reduction of memory traffic and the use of overlapping frame and command processing. CPU overhead is minimized through an optimized rendering pipeline, and the game selectively employs both native Metal Shaders and converted shaders to fine-tune GPU utilization.

I’m kinda tempted to just wait until it’s fully ready with all the features released.

Very curious to see how this performs. To my knowledge, this is the first AAA game to use TBDR. That is a lot of work.

I'm curious if Steam will consider it a new title so they will not have to give you the MacOS version if you own the Win version.

Even though they support only 16GB+, I expect it to run on 8GB but it will probably have very low fps even on lowest quality.
