Yay?

Has there been an expansion that macOS didn't get?

I used to love playing WoW, but I can't find it in me to give it another go. 😭
Maybe not for you and me who don't play WoW (I'v never done) but Yay for those who do and for the Mac gaming as whole. You can be sure we would see the doomsday speculations here as soon as WoW wouldn't be supported anymore. So it's promsing that they plan to port not one but three expansions during the next couple of years. Who knows, maybe we'll see a change now that Microsoft owns Blizzard. Maybe they'll do a Capcom since Apple is big in mobile gaming and offers huge revenue possibilities.

“This acquisition will accelerate the growth in Microsoft’s gaming business across mobile, PC, console and cloud and will provide building blocks for the metaverse. Players everywhere love Activision Blizzard games, and we believe the creative teams have their best work in front of them,” said Phil Spencer, CEO, Microsoft Gaming. “Together we will build a future where people can play the games they want, virtually anywhere they want.”

"Mobile is the largest segment in gaming, with nearly 95% of all players globally enjoying games on mobile. Through great teams and great technology, Microsoft and Activision Blizzard will empower players to enjoy the most-immersive franchises, like “Halo” and “Warcraft,” virtually anywhere they want. And with games like “Candy Crush,” Activision Blizzard´s mobile business represents a significant presence and opportunity for Microsoft in this fast-growing segment."

Huge revenue possibilities for pseudo-casinos.

We are way more likely to see a WoW Xbox port than iOS. Traditional games don't work or sell well on mobile.
haha. MS, generally, has left existing games on existing platforms alone when buying developers. I don't think they will remove macOS support for WoW. I would be concerned if Blizzard announced WoW2 (ever) though. At that point it is likely they would/could break compatibility.

My example of this is Mojang hasn't released any of the newer offshoots of Minecraft to macOS, I think the latest version (Minecraft Legends) is even missing on iOS.

Very interesting gaming test in Badur's Gate 3 which is native for AS. People keep saying M2 Ultra isn't better than RTX 4060 in games. Here we see a different story.

At 2160p highest quality M3 Max performs as 4070 laptop, M2 Ultra even faster.

At 1440p max quality M3 Max performs as 4080 gaming laptop.

At 1080p max quality when the game is CPU bound M3 Max performs as desktop RTX 4090.

Based on the scaling it appears the 4080 may be still CPU bound at 1440p. 4k is like 2 times as many pixels as 1440p but the 4080 only lost 8 frames.

Apple Silicon has a better CPU so the GPU scaling for resolution actually appears to work correctly.

Could be but that's a PC gaming laptop with i9-13900HX/4080 so it's not a potato. M3 Max even matched the fastest AMD gaming CPU and RTX 4090.

I’m torn. I guess that is a good result, but somewhat disappointed that it still needs upscaling (for what is on screen say compared to Alan Wake 2).

It could be higher but since its locked we can't tell. We'll see if MrMacRight will test M3 Max.

Also they are not using Metal3, still an older version of Metal2 so still room for more improvement. But great to see those charts. I did watch the interview with one of the developer and they seemed pretty dedicated to Mac so nice.

No desktop. It's from Intel 14900 launch test.

Ah yeah CPU limited. Which isn’t the case with Apple Silicon (at least at first glance. I’m assuming this isn’t Act 3 as well). Still a good showing.

Ehhhhh those developers seem to have been let go from maintaining the macOS version.
