Got my MacBook today. I'm typing this on it now. And it looks SO SO GOOD! Even better than I thought it would, and that's saying a lot! It appears to perform well on Lion. As much as I like SL, I think ML is likely going to be be OS of choice... if it performs even better than Lion, it sounds like the right OS.

Turns out this MacBook is actually faster than my iMac... it's a 2.16GHz C2D while the iMac is a 1.83GHz C2D. I may actually get rid of the iMac and keep the MacBook as my main Mac. I'd keep an external display for it of course.

Most of my Macs are gone now, so here's what happened to all of them:
Mac mini G4 - Sold on eBay
iBook G3 500MHz - Donated to 8-Bit Guy (it's in his latest "8-Bit Donations" video!)
iBook G4 - Gave to @clamshell_g3
iBook Clamshell - Sold to a forum user

So all I really need to get rid of now is my PMG5. My iMac G4 will stay as my one PPC.

Thanks for your help and advice everyone!

I'm glad clamshell has another PPC.

Good for him.
Well, I couldn't just let him use a G3 in 2017! :D

So Waterfox is working on Lion and it performs well. I can stream live sports and HD YouTube, something I've never been able to do on a Mac! :D Looks like the browser for Lion and Mountain Lion.

Just remember that programs like Malware Bytes are no longer current for SL/Lion/ML. That's worth remembering if you wish to use your newfound freedom to explore other parts of the internet.
Macs need anti-virus? When did this happen? :p

I'm a pretty basic user though, just looking at websites like news, Wikipedia, sports, the forum, etc... I shouldn't need anti-virus software, right?

Just a note. Probably not relevant to you but I will mention it anyway.

Apple changed the minimum Finder window width from Mavericks on. The new minimum width is much wider than it was in ML and below. This became a serious issue for me because for screen space purposes I have a lot of narrow width folders open at work.

The solution was to find an Applescript that allows me to specify the width of a window and then the app Finder Window Manager to record the positions and sizes of the windows.

Keep in mind that if you do use an Applescript to size windows below the new minimum (which is the only way to do it now) if you resize the window in any direction it will immediately revert to the new minimum size.

If you want to see what I mean, size a folder as small as you can get it on a PowerPC Mac then do the same on a Mavericks or above Mac. You'll see what I mean.

Like I said, probably irrelevant, but something to mention.

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind if I decide to try Mavericks.

Yeah, most people don't care or even notice, but I hate wasted space on Finder windows when I'm trying to cram more than one window on to a screen. Just me though.

Latest version of Waterfox? And does it also work on Snow Leopard?

Move up to a Santa Rose MB and you can board swap to a Nvidia 9400m

Below was my white/black MB which I sold but I’m slowly regretting it(to be fair though, it is a GMA 950 model and I do a bit of graphics work. I use a MBP 13 2010 now for all of that).

Oh, so that's actually a combination of the black MacBook parts and the white MacBook parts? Neat!

And I don't think I'll be upgrading anytime soon. Waterfox works great, ML does everything I need, and this laptop looks amazing.

Yep, the keyboard was so probably the worse to do. Gotta rip out every. single. key.

Great machines though, wish I could still use’em. Good luck. I can’t use Merom MBs anymore, Penryn is the standard for me now.
