I was getting it. Went to iTunes in app Settings > General and unchecked Apple Music, checked it back, and hit OK. Clicked ok to the "Sharing music honor system" warning and all has been well since.

Seriously Apple... You have one of the largest holdings in the world, and you can't even get a stable service for your customers? Even Spotify which is a tiny company compared to Apple always have a dead stable service.

Also, Spotify loads songs MUCH quicker than Apple Music - almost immediately. Where Apple can take 1-2 seconds sometimes. Searches are also slow.

Step up the game, Apple!

I'm heartily pleased not to have tried Apple Music or upgraded to iTunes 12.2.

I guess this is the face of the new Apple: beta software for everyone.

Diversity rules; both good and bad software is given equal status.

Honestly, this is the face of the software companies nowadays. perpetual beta experiences.
Testing and QA costs a lot.

You know what a 503 is right? Nothing to do with your computer....
You know a 503 might also be used as a generic error when you refuse a connection?
Do you know precisely how Apple decides to handle requests?

Then a reboot could fix it if a config used by Apple Music to forge the HTTP request was changed by some means : rebooting might have resetted it.

So I suppose you've never experienced an outage with any other web based service?

Changes by what means? I'm interested, in why you would need to reboot the machine instead of just the app/service.

I seriously wonder whether Apple have deliberately hired a more diverse workforce at the expense of maintaining high standards.

Judging by where Tim Cook's focus lies, that amazingly seems to be a viable reason, awful though it is to imagine.

Apple should use some of the profits and invest in a proper data center.

My first reaction, coming from years of Windows experience at work, was to reboot my iMac, and that fixed it. ;)
Yes, whenever I see someone complaining about an iPad problem and Apple support suggests a factory reset and a restore from backup, I also think: "Wow, it's Windows 3.1 all over again!" :D

Any environment variable used by another application and AM, a process used by AM that was stuck at some point or not responding as it should have, a file that was locked for reading, etc. There's many possible reasons.

And why rebooting instead of rebooting the service, well... Because he probably had no means to find what was the cause and rebooting usually comes to mind (especially if you were on windows < 8)
Also, simply restarting a service wouldn't necessarily reset the configuration as it was before it changed it.

Anyway, this is all speculation, we don't even know if the reboot fixed it or if it was coincidental, but hese are all possible reasons :)
