Yeah ... Apple's Cloud services are awful. They really need to focus on that.
Any environment variable used by another application and AM, a process used by AM that was stuck at some point or not responding as it should have, a file that was locked for reading, etc. There's many possible reasons.
And why rebooting instead of rebooting the service, well... Because he probably had no means to find what was the cause and rebooting usually comes to mind (especially if you were on windows < 8)
Also, simply restarting a service wouldn't necessarily reset the configuration as it was before it changed it.
Anyway, this is all speculation, we don't even know if the reboot fixed it or if it was coincidental, but hese are all possible reasons![]()
On the other hand, the reboot fixes it... But only because it takes a while. Getting a cup of coffee would also fix it, for the same reason. 503 means some server is overloaded, so usually you just wait a bit and it works again.
You should complain about what they were doing before while all these technicians were hired since it's their job to hire/manage, not fix the problems themselves. They can't seem to run web services properly. Maybe because Google hires most of the talent. They definitely seem to appeal to college students and graduates a lot more. While this outage is going on...
Eddie Que is hanging out at a Ferrari dealership...
Jony Ive is at a tea party with Anna Wintour...
Tim Cook is off somewhere protesting religious freedom...
Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave...
I'm heartily pleased not to have tried Apple Music or upgraded to iTunes 12.2.
I guess this is the face of the new Apple: beta software for everyone.
Diversity rules; both good and bad software is given equal status.
Well, the cloud is a tough beast to work with..
Time to a cuppa, or several...
In the meantime, I got a stockload of local music to catch up on..![]()
Sometimes it says i'm not signed in to Apple Music when using iTunes on my Mac, but thats all.
I've given up with Apple Music and gone back to Spotify. I can't take the bugs and annoyances. I find it less intuitive to use than Spotify. And me, incredibly annoying since my work rig is an iMac connected to some H&K SoundStick IIs!
iOS 9 and El Cap are fantastic and will be well received when released. Apple Music on the other hand deserves a Beta tag in my opinion. You don't know what you're talking about. Have you tried the iOS 9 beta?

There are some good parts to Apple Music. For You, New and Beats1. It needs some work and fixing. It's also missing a lot of music that Spotify has.I'm still umm'ing and ahh'ing over which to pick. I'm quite 'invested' into Spotify with playlists and I appreciate that it's on my PS4, but I do like Apple Music's For You section. It really is as good as people say.
As much as I love Apple, I'm afraid I have to agree with you. Quality control seems to have gone out the window. For a company who has that much cash, these issues are embarrassing. Apple needs to be more transparent about issues, not leaving users in the dark.I've been seeing a lot of errors about security certificates being wrong, or missing, in the past few weeks, nearly month.
It's really sad to see a company that used to have such a rock solid(ish) facade, showing cracks that make me wonder if anyone really knows what the hell is going on.
I take a dim view of broken links, and security popups, especially on a website that I frequent, or in a program I'm forced to use.
steve jobs might have been a tyrant, but **** worked... (Even MobileMe worked very well for me. No problems)

Especially when helicopter is about to fall or explode.Apple's System Status page has always been about as useful as an ejector seat in a helicopter.
