Well I was ready to buy my MBP next week but I guess I will wait now. Not like waiting an extra week will be the end of the world for me anyways...

So? No professional editor authors retail disks, and professional Blu rays are sent to duplications on DLT's.

Or wait, you,re not a professional...

hah no i am just mad they only let you do a little with blu-Ray ... they cripple it.

if you want to ever look at something you author that has been commercially duplicated ie feature films, you can't. Apple cripples their systems and doesn't allow that.

yes of course you can buy blu-ray drives, but ... you can't fully utilize them

Maybe the successor to Shake is finally ready.

My thought exactly, but maybe Apple isn't going to keep it a separate application and instead roll it into Motion maybe? Then again it is a vastly different program, so probably not. I would love to see FCS3 be Snow Leopard only so that ALL of Final Cut's code could be rewritten not just for Intel only, but as 64-bit only with true multicore capabilities. Imagine the Pro App Devs getting up there and saying that it's not just 5x faster meaning you can render 12 streams of uncompressed HD effects simultaneously in better than realtime. I'd bite, and I'd bite Hard. Don't hate me, but DVDSP is also WAY overdue especially Compressor with it's HD DVD compression, so Blu-Ray is a Must for Apple. If they don't include it, Adobe will be the king on Macs for Blu-ray, and when Adobe takes a lead, it's tough to get it back.

If FCS3 is Snow Leopard dependent, it would give them 3 months to get it cleaned up and functional while still getting their news out before NAB. Also, a mild refresh in June for the Mac Pros with 1.5 or even 2TB drives as BTO options and a Blu-ray drive (or two) isn't too hard to believe.

Please Don't Disappoint when it comes to the Pros at least Apple! PLEASE!

I have absolutely no clue what they will announce, or not announce, at an event on the 24th -- or whether they will have an event on the 24th.

Do I get a prize for being the only one here who is being honest? :D

The Phenomenon rumor stated that it would be based off Motion code but Shake users' experience.

They don't cripple it. Crippling it would involve introducing it in the first place.

I think this event will bring Blu Ray. You can't have the hardware if you don't have the software. We have Blu Ray capable machines across the board, HDCP, and relaxed, easier and cheaper ways to obtain Blu Ray licensing.

So wait, you're telling me you author DVDs and send the out ot be duplicated WITHOUT burning a test copy to try in a real DVD player!?

 Wow, that's some great quality control you've got there.

With Hulu having turned off access from Boxie, a new Apple TV is in order. Apple should add ATSC tuners and DVR capability to it so that people can start disconnecting their cable or sattellite and start using over-the-air HD broadcast for networks, and iTunes store for everything that is not on major networks. As for CNN or FoxNews, the less people watch them at this point, the better everone will be.

Bring on FCS3, I just hope apple is paying attention to the new codecs out there and that they finally natively support DVCproHD P2 without log and transfer. It will also be nice for color to look like an apple program. And oh Yeah, BluRay support in DVD studio pro.

damn new fcp to drool after. maybe dvd studio will support blue ray or a replacement for shake!

I actually can't see it any other way. They must re-write FCS for SL. otherwise, what's the point of either? yadda yadda programmers, scientists, i get it. I hear you. But they SELL fcs. Also they're telling everyone to go cocoa. So i guess they need to go cocoa too, yeah?

I think they've needed a real reason for a full re-write and SL is it. The media manager is a disaster the title tool is dumb (don't say "use live type" as it integrates in a confusing way and is overkill and tedious for most basic title needs), and the fact that FCP can't use all the chips for renders is crazy. Or at least makes me crazy watching the render bar crawl across the screen.

Personally I'm also hoping for some basic user improvements for FCP. simple, editor friendly stuff that Avid has had for years. enough with "Color" and theoretical "all in one" awesomeness. Let me just get more done day to day.

Yes, it's logical to assume this will be the cocoa-written version, meaning they did have to start completely from scratch.

Should be fun!

Honestly, all of the Pro apps are in dire need of an update. Hopefully this will be a blow out event with updates to FCS, Logic, and Aperture.

I doubt Blu-Ray would come. IMO, it's too soon considering that Apple just updated their whole desktop line like a week ago. It would be really stupid to update them twice in the same week.

I'm not holding my breath for Logic 9...

If you recall, it took Apple more than 3 years to go from Logic 7 to Logic 8!

They're not exactly on the stick when it comes to their Pro Audio applications.
