Listen up folks!!

If there is a special event later in march, it's gonna be consumer oriented. Period!

You would think, at the very least, that the netizens of macrumor would know by now that Apple doesn't do "pro-events."

Moronic

Why would Apple hold a special event for video software the day after NAB ends? What are these people smoking? And shouldn't crap anonymous based rumors be on page 2?

Winni hit the nail on the head. I'm a web designer and have many, many friends and associates who are developers. The Mac Pro is often overkill, and a MacBook Pro / Cinema display is pretty much what they all have.

Just my 2¢

Developers use Mac Pros... and/or MBPs... and/or Minis... etc.
It depends on what they are doing.
Though I do agree that many types of development can be done comfortably with nothing more powerful than a MBP, or even MB or Mini.

People use Laptops because they are powerful enough these days, portable and you do not need to purchase a Desktop. However if you can afford a Desktops as well as a Laptop it offers a better Development environment with the use of things like inexpensive Dual/Triple Monitors, a proper keyboard and Mouse etc.

I have both a MBP and G5. If I am situated at a client for a long time I will keep a Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse at the clients and leave my Laptop there. I will transfer project files via a USB drive and work on my Desktop at home.

There was me thinking WWDC was a pro event...

WWDC is a week long developer conference.

The non-existent "pro-event" would be no more than a glamorized press conference, designed to spin the gospel to the masses.

But, of course, pros are few and far between, and a full blown Apple event for them would be a big waste of both money and Apples hard earned and precious "attention-capital."

It's not like the pros wouldn't learn about the new software sans the non-existent, and most of them are certainly already predisposed to by the expensive updates anyway. It's after all their livelihood...

no more hardware updates for at least 6 months. maybe a SL preview? maybe.

I don't think apple is partaking in NAB, maybe I'm wrong.
Apple has been pulling out of all tradeshows recently.

You might want to check your calendar again before you make such a harsh post. As someone who goes to NAB every year I can tell you that you are a month off there.

If this happens it will be previews for:
Snow Leopard
iPhone 3.0 software

I doubt they would hold an event for the Pro software. That doesn't generate enough hype.

Over 12 million Americans are out of work right now, do you really think the suits and ties that run Apple are that out of touch! there is no demand right now even if they were silly enough to release new products who would buy them? just because 10 or 20 people here on MR say they need a new this or that and have cash ready to buy MR does not represent the real buying public.

MR buyers only represent the Apple lunatic fringe who always must have the latest and greatest toys.

Apple execs don't wear suits or ties. They wear turtlenecks. Even when it's hot outside.

24th March, now where have I seen that before?... oh yeah!

24th March has some significance for OS X. The first release of OS X 10.0 (Cheetah) took place 24th March 2001 IIRC.
Coincidence? Well, probably, yes actually...

I doubt Snow Leopard will be introduced.
Doesn't seem like it would be too logical to release a new OS just four weeks after refreshing the whole desktop line.

New appleTV with nvidia ion technology

This is my dream!! If any consumer product is released I pray it is an updated appleTV.

Aperture Update?

Apple is definitely working on an update to Aperture. The Aperture Plug-In developer mailing list (it's a public list) was sent an email soliciting feedback on API features on March 4. It seems like they're still deep in development:

All,

Now that the Export and Edit APIs have both been out for over a year now, I wanted to get your thoughts on both of them.

Info / Documentation / WWDC Feedback:
The list has been fairly quiet lately, so I assume that the API makes sense and nobody is stuck on any weird issues :) Is that the case? Are there any things you don't understand or would like us to clarify about the API?
If you attended the Aperture sessions at WWDC over the past two years, is there anything further that you would like to see? Was there anything we missed?
Were the WWDC sessions in-depth enough? Too high-level?
Is the current sample code - in the SDK and from WWDC - comprehensive enough? Clear enough?

API Features
What further features or API would you like to see?
Are there things you would like to do that simply cannot be done with the current API? What?
Are there API calls that you would like to use but can't for some reason?

Please feel free to reply directly to me - and also be forewarned that I may ask you to file bugs based on your replies! If you're asking for new features or API, please be specific about what these new APIs would let you do that you cannot do now.

Thanks,
Blake
