How about an Aperture update? iPhoto has had new features added, Lightroom 2 has also jumped ahead in terms of features.........

Couldn't agree more. Aperture's the most disappointing Apple software release in many years. v2 was already awful when released, a year ago. Really hope it's updated soon.

I think a special event for the announcement of software like Final Cut Studio seems very out of place. It also seems like most people wouldn't care about FCS unless they are a video professional.

I really hope we see Snow Leopard at this event. If the event is focusing on software, it would make sense that they could host an event pertaining to the improved stability, security, and overall elegance of Mac OS X.

I'm ready for my new Mac Pro... more than ever after all benchmarking, but I am still waiting. I called Apple a few time, and was finally given a date - the reason given was that it needs yet to be released software (don't ask: I don't have a clue as to what that might be, but 10.5.7 maybe?).

BTW: I noticed that Intel will release their new Xeon's on March 31 so now I'm starting to wonder if Apple can deliver before this date

Gosh man Aperture, let's pray for a good update this time.

One thing is for sure... it won't be the first/last time this year to cash out more $$$ LOL So much for saving.

This is my dream!! If any consumer product is released I pray it is an updated appleTV.

Apple TV - It's not a hobby anymore.

Updated hardware (Nvidia Ion?) along with new deals with big media producers could signify that Apple would be serious this time. A media event would highlight the big news and changes.

I personally would like to see an iTunes media server/hub. Maybe the upcoming 10.5.7 update (with emphasis on MobileMe and syncing among other things) would enable some features that allow a media hub to happen.

Push Notifications. Yes, i called it. Push notifications.
What else could warrent a software special event (if it is for software) other than something they promised yonks ago and failed to deliver. Knowing apple... they will hype it up like it's never been announced before...
you heard it here first.
Intel should partner with nvidia.
IBM should release the combined cell/power chip then lets hope the competition between the big blues errupt in peaceful wars of inovation.
Then google should buy them all out, invest in offsure data severs with onboard solar/wind/wave/ocean-currents power generation and google should rule the world with their own fighter jet that they own.
Thank you, you've all been a great audience.

What's wrong with Logic 8?
What kind of bugs are you dealing with?

Running Logic 8 as smooth as shakira can shake her hips
I'm not experiencing any major problems at all
Maybe something is not installed correctly on your mac :(

Would love to see Logic 9 and the last view weeks confirm more and more rumors that this can be presented very soon

Wonder what could be new....
At least I expect lots of new and better algorithms maybe some new plugins as well
I love what Logic 8 brought users like 2 channels in the inspector, channels strip settings
Also the hole one window thing work great but some things can be better

And not forget that Logic Studio had no stupid usb dongle anymore plus the price was reduced enormously but it gain more features than ever before incl mainstage and all apple loops which are great to work with :)

And we most not forget ... Music To The People :p

I shouldn't say this, but since I don't work for Apple and have not signed any non-disclosures....

There will be multiple announcements, I only know about one though and it's that Apple is adding native Hulu support to Apple TV. The implementation is quite different than Hulu.com, but pretty cool.

Over 12 million Americans are out of work right now, do you really think the suits and ties that run Apple are that out of touch! there is no demand right now even if they were silly enough to release new products who would buy them?...
I have a family member who got sacked yesterday, which is sad for him, but that isn't Apple's fault.

Also, Apple introduced new models recently, and it will keep shipping new hard- and software until we all stop buying, which I don't think will happen any day soon, in other words: it is a matter of demand. No demand for new products = no production. End of story.

MR buyers only represent the Apple lunatic fringe who always must have the latest and greatest toys.
Some of us here, like me, are professionals and need new hardware from time to time, and who are you to judge other people anyway?

Forget Snow Leopard. If the last published issues list is accurate, Snow Leopard isn't close to being ready for release.

exactly, it feels like it's a year away from release. it's not even RUNNING on the mac pro yet!

Most of the professional users that I know would never waste a single minute of their time even reading MR I have two very close friends that are pro users and they barely have time to even sleep! they are so busy editing and producing content. If you are a true pro user maybe your time would be better spent trying to find new clients and less time responding to post on a rumors web site.

Opps I just notice you are a newbie here on MR so you have a lot to learn about the workings of a rumors web site, veteran MR members would not even reply to my post they have seen it all but since your are new..... :)

How about fixing iWeb!

Let's say..... make it for I can publish my site without errors. And while you are at it Apple, can you fix the huge bloated code and extensive time it takes for my pages to download on a broadband connection?

Just my thoughts....

Honestly, iWeb is pretty much garbage. Instead of waiting for Apple to fix it (which they have shown no motivation to do, if the past few years is any indication) just migrate to something else. Even Rapidweaver, while still maintaing ease of use, is leagues better.

What? So because he posts on a forum he's automatically not a 'professional'? Maybe he- I don't know- has a life outside of his career, and maybe he enjoys coming to **** site and spending a couple minutes to post? Or would that be a paradox that blows your mind?

And because he's a 'newbie' to this board, that's supposed to mean something?

I swear, some posters here sounds like they're 9. Get a grip, and enough with the pretentious ********.

I agree completely!!! By upgrade I meant a dedicated Intel Atom processor with the new Nvidia Ion graphics. Great for 1080 viewing and already the right size and power consumption.

hahaha, I just look at your post and laugh. Uncompressed HD? Only fools try to edit in an uncompressed video format. You would need one hell of a raid array to do 12 streams of HD, let alone uncompressed streams. Going 64-bit will help a little here but it's not the end-cure.

Okay, obviously my numbers are a little off, but really, Final Cut has to be bloated with code. Final Cut was originally a Macromedia product for Windows. They decided to can the project and Apple bought it. It came out in 1999 for OS 9. It's now on version 6, with it going from OS9, to 10, adding HD capabilities, then going to Universal. That Universal alone has to have added, not traded, SO much code. How much OS 9 code has been taken out?

If Final Cut really was 100% rewritten, for one thing it would be a major task. two years, maybe. Maybe Apple has divided up the Final Cut team with half to continuing to support FCP versions 5 and 6 while the other half uses 5.1 as a base to completely rewrite Final Cut adding the features of 6 when they could and adding 7's features once FCP was operational and/or stable.

Obviously this is all just my $.02, but I hope it's true.

exactly, it feels like it's a year away from release. it's not even RUNNING on the mac pro yet!

More like couple of months. The February build of it wasn't running on most machines, the new one isn't running on Nehalem only. It's getting ready, but not ready for a March release. June seems reasonable.

exactly, it feels like it's a year away from release. it's not even RUNNING on the mac pro yet!

Released builds are running. Internally, it's running. And anyone who thinks the OS is a year a way doesn't understand the staging of builds from internal to external testing.

Why would Apple hold a special event for video software the day after NAB ends? What are these people smoking? And shouldn't crap anonymous based rumors be on page 2?

Hey buddy, might want to bother to do some reasearch before posting a completely false tirade entitled "Moronic". From NAB.org "NABShow
April 17–23, 2009 • Las Vegas, Nev." The guy who posted about their apple store being closed from the 18-24 has Nothing to do with this rumored event. One small store in Colorado wouldn't close because Apple is releasing new Pro software.

If there is a special event later in march, it's gonna be consumer oriented. Period!

You would think, at the very least, that the netizens of macrumor would know by now that Apple doesn't do "pro-events."

Take a gander where Final Cut was originally previewed? Final Cut Production Suite? And Final Cut Studio? Oh, and Studio 2? Lastly, how about the 17" MacBook Pro? Take a look here: http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/15/apple-keynote-live-from-nab-2007/

I Dare you to now tell me Apple doesn't hold Pro events.
