I just don't like how Apple correlates screen size with compute power. Why can't there be a 16" MacBook Air? Or a 12.9" regular iPad?
Yes I've been asking for this for years. Pretty much since I switched back to the iPhone in 2014 from the galaxy note series.Time to bring the Apple Pencil to the iPhone Pro.
What's the thing in her left hand?
I think you mistake a small group of tech YouTubers for a meaningful number of “iPad Pro users” as they (the YouTubers) themselves do.iPad Pro being not Pro because of iPadOS haha. How come iPad Pro users demand more than what iPadOS offers?
So what ? 27" iMac can't go on airplanes either. What's the problem?Batteries that large would be very tough to build. Immense amounts of raw material and cannot go on airplanes.
Like a laptop?iPad wins hands down as a web browser/YouTube/Facebook machine, but once you get past those uses, best option is to use something else.
Your opinion does not represent the entire users and did I ever mentioned Youtubers?I think you mistake a small group of tech YouTubers for a meaningful number of “iPad Pro users” as they (the YouTubers) themselves do.
I have 2 iPad Pros (a 10.5” first generation), and a 12.9” (second generation). My BF has 2 as well (his first generation is the 12.9” and his second generation is the 11”). I stopped using a laptop a while ago and use it for everything other than coding. He is an artist and an animator, as well as a film maker. He prefers the current model of iPadOS for the iPads and macOS on his Mac Pro, using Sidecar when he wants to use the iPad as control surface for the Mac Pro.
We are waiting for our new current generation M1 iPad Pros to be delivered sometime in July.
Neither of us wants macOS on our iPads, nor do most of our friends (including many artists and animators).
Because this system was a failure. Cool tech demo, but no one wanted it. There will ALWAYS be a loud contingent wanting to SEE cool tech demos that they’ll never buy. Apple’s wise not to listenSurprised they didn’t just make the new iMac like this. They went thin enough to.
Sorry, I work with lots of content creators who completely disagree with you.To be fair, Surface tablets are infinitely more useful than iPads for anything constructive.
Drawing, video editing, and many other content product applications are much better on the iPad / iPad Pro.iPad wins hands down as a web browser/YouTube/Facebook machine, but once you get past those uses, best option is to use something else.
Basically what I was getting at in a sarcastic way. Although I'm thinking a multi-touch display. One which is suitable as a drawing surface will increase the price significantly.Surprised they didn’t just make the new iMac like this. They went thin enough to.
You say “once you get past those uses”, the majority of folks on the internet today NEVER get past those usesiPad wins hands down as a web browser/YouTube/Facebook machine, but once you get past those uses, best option is to use something else.
I believe it was called the Surface Dial, and it was a moveable physical dial that interacted with the display and gave control over volume, brushes, playback scrubbing, etc. Kind of an ingenious tool and something that I could see selling super well for iPads.
Sorry, I work with lots of creative professionals who prefer the current situation and do not want macOS on an iPad.That does not stop users to complain. Pro isn't pro after all.
“If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” Henry FordSorry, I work with lots of creative professionals who prefer the current situation and do not want macOS on an iPad.
Fixed that for you. I work with lots of Pros who disagree with you. I am also fairly confident that Apple’s market research also disagrees with you. That does not stop [a small number of] users [on here and other tech sites as well as YouTube] to complain. Pro isn't pro after all.
Correct. The article’s comment on allowing flexible multiple screen alignment like macOS hit the bell for me. Since a limited number of iPads on the market are 12.9s the majority of users would have a poor experience when multiple windows are open and hiding behind other apps and killing battery life in the process. It would really need its own OS to behave more like a Mac and not compromise the useability for everyone else.Intentionally limiting? Oh...that sounds soooo sinister!
How about Apple has chosen to not port macOS to iPad for many excellent human factors-based user experience reasons.
That would be a reasonable quote if no one was building competing products. There are people who make touch screen tablet computers (like the Surface) and those that I know have worked with them. My BF stopped using his Cintiq (which was a touch screen as well) on his Mac in favor of Sidecar, so it is not like they have not tried that model.“If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” Henry Ford
If it did they would be more quickly capitulating to their requests.Fixed that for you. I work with lots of Pros who disagree with you. I am also fairly confident that Apple’s market research does as well.
