Thanks, Laserawesome!

Our two Maroo cases are out for delivery today. As are our two new iPads. It will be interesting to see how well the "smart cover" magnetic feature works. But I won't be as patient as you. If the iPad wakes from sleep with the cover closed (but not held fast with the elastic straps) then I will be returning the covers for a refund.

Maroo shouldn't be designating an iPad 2 case as compatible with the new iPad if it isn't, indeed, completely compatible.

I didn't get it delivered yet, but I assumed that cover wasn't going to stay closed

I got the kumara II and the sleep wake function works great. It doesn't stay shut but expected that. Overall very happy

Hi all. Quick update on the magnet feature. Apparently, Apple switched the magnet polarity in the new iPad. Luckily, the magnets in our cases are strong enough to break through that polarity switch.

All new orders should work as advertised. If you are having a problem with the magnet feature, contact me via email at info@maroo.com

It should be noted that, due to extra protection given by the thickness of our cases, the magnets were never designed to hold the case closed. This is true even with the iPad 2. To make sure your case stays closed when you're not using it, be sure to use the handy reversible straps on the top and bottom of the case.

Thanks!

Could your magnets "damage" the magnets in the ipad in any way if they have switched the polarity?

So the magnets have a weaker effect than they should? How much of a difference?

My Moko case's magnets are sporadic too, i.e they don't always put the iPad to sleep all the time.

Moko case arrived at the same time as Ipad today..nice!

I do like the case, however as others have mentioned there is an issue with the magnets. At best the smart function works intermittently. I have emailed Maroo to advise them of the issue. Given no one had the new Ipad to do tests,I am sure this issue will be addressed.

The case is well made with a quality leather, fit and finish is very good. The rear camera hole lines up well, the Ipad seems stable in viewing and typing angles. The leather has a nice supple feel to it. Overall I feel the Moko is a great case and excellent value.

Really like my black Moko case for my new iPad. So far the magnets seem to be working for me pretty well. As others have mentioned it does not keep the case closed, but this is not a problem since the straps work great for that. I think I'll be looking at Maroo cases for all my future case needs!

Hey all, checking in again to say that Beau at Maroo has been a huge help in resolving my issue with the Moko. They're mailing me another Moko at no extra cost and letting me keep the first one as well. So a nice, really quick resolution and thankfully not a situation where my iPad had to go naked for a few days. :)

A question - the new iPad is definitely a tight fit in the Moko so I'm wondering if it plays nicely with screen protectors? Anyone have any issue? Also would like to say that my magnets are waking/sleeping the iPad perfectly.

I bought a screen protector, and am deciding not to use it. The fit of the case is very tight, but I was also getting fed up with dust landing on the screen during the installation regardless of taking my time and cleaning the surrounding area. $12 wasted, maybe I can find another use for the screen protector :(

Mine came at the same time as my iPad as well.
I aso would like to say that the leather is of excellent quality. And my purchase experience with Maroo was top notched. Prompt response with email questions. Would definitely recommend to my friends and would definitely be a repeat customer. :D

I just installed the power support crystal on my new iPad and tried the moko out. It fits fine but does cause some minor air bubbling just adjacent to the plastic edges. These air bubbles are really tiny and can be rubbed out. Generally the last edge installed is the biggest air bubble culprit. You have to look closely and it doesn't bother me or effect the screen viewing itself.

I think some cheaper protectors might begin to lift up over time. I'm thinking the ps will hold up better. I also don't intend to take the ipad in and out of the case regularly. For now I'm going with the maroo.

The two Maroo cases we ordered arrived today in perfect condition. After looking at a variety of folio-style cases at Fry's the other day, I wasn't anticipating a case/folio of this quality. These Maroo cases (we ordered a Moko II and a Roto II) are wonderful. Excellent construction and just gorgeous. I'm particularly pleased with the beautiful red leather of the Roto II. Fantastic!

With regard to the magnetic smart cover feature one of our cases (the Roto II) works PERFECTLY with both new iPads. Get that lid/cover within about an inch of the iPad and it goes to sleep.

Unfortunately, the opposite is true for the Moko II case. It won't put either iPad to sleep unless we fiddle around with it and push the cover/lid back toward the spine, a position that the cover won't stay in on its own.

I've already written to the support person at Maroo. I'm hopeful for a fast and easy exchange.

These magnet issues have me worried :(

I'm up in Canada and I ordered the Maunga just to see the difference and wouldn't want to wait another week or two for a replacement if the magnets don't work properly. Apple really should've told case manufacturers about this earlier since it really doesn't expose anything about the finished product. Probably wouldn't be as worried if I lived in the states since I hear customer service is great and delivery times would be shorter.

This is the response I received from the contact person at Maroo:

We're looking into the magnet issue. It does not seem to be happening to every case. We will have a solution next week for the customers affected.

I understand their need to investigate but I can't see how it would be possible to arrive at any solution OTHER than replacing the entire case.

In the meantime, for fear that the defective case might somehow get accidentally scuffed of otherwise damaged, my wife decided to remove it from her iPad. That leaves her new iPad naked and she's not happy about that. She's been making eyes at my (properly working) red Roto case. I told her no way!

Seriously, though.... If the replacement takes too long I think she'll be asking me to take her back to Fry's so she can pick out something else and simply return the defective Maroo case for a refund instead of exchange.

Everyone, let's give Maroo a little slack here... They have come out here on the forums and said they are working on a solution. It's an honest mistake that they were unaware of any changes to the magnets in the new iPad.

My Moko comes in today I believe (according to shipping info), if it doesn't work as I'd hoped then I will contact them and let them resolve the issue. I can only imagine most of the people here on this thread, if not all, got their case at 50% off. I say just leave it on your iPad for now until they are able to resolve the issues. To power in the iPad after opening the cover, push the home button.

If you reverse the polarity of the magnets (flip them) then the covers would repel...so that is not the problem.

My guess is that its most likely weak magnetic pull as in too few magnets, too weak magnets, or mispositioned magnets.

Would be interesting to take a old smart cover from the iPad 2 and see if it works on an ipad 3.

My AWANUI case arrived yesterday and I find that it has too much give/play when used as a typing stand. This is due to the soft leather binder.

The rest of the case is nice and I will likely keep it....however if this had not been purchased at a huge discount back it would go.

My old iPad 2 smartcover works perfectly on the new iPad.
