That is one bizarre Apple Store, and a hassle. When I traded my S1 Sport in, simply no issues at all. She even took off the original black sport band and gave it back to me. She just took back the watch case only. Just glad it worked out, some people throw away the box it came in.
Again, i'm talking about a brand new Series 4 that i bought on launch day and was trading in for a different model. Makes sense that in that scenario they would want everything back. When i traded in my Series 3 for credit when i bought my original Series 4, they didn't ask for packaging

I wonder why the 8 am stock updates have stopped. Last week and prior when there were absolutely no models showing overnight, Al or SS, most stores were showing updated stock just after 8 edt but now not so.

Had the same problem. Website said yes. Store said no.

Turned out I hadn't unpaired it and removed it completely from my iCloud account. After that it appeared to take 30-45 minutes for Apple's cloud to get in sync and THEN the store process worked.

Well, I can certainly give that a try. Thanks for the heads up!

Space Gray SS 44mm is available now at Lenox but it's a 40 min drive now and with traffic I dunno. Plus that mall is a CF. Cumberland is easier for me since I live 10 miles away. Perimeter had the same earlier today too.

Cumberland just got stock on SBSS 44mm with sport band.

I am from the Uk. Mine dispatched a few hours ago and due in Friday

That’s good news.. mine hasn’t dispatched and isn’t due till November the 5th but this gives me confidence there might be stock in the stores soon. Thanks

You ordered from Apple right?

Yep, I just happened to look. Ordered. I'll be going to pick it up this evening I'm guessing.
I believe you have up to three weeks to pick it up -- considering what the hurricane is likely to do to traffic in that area tonight...

For those who are willing to take the Best Buy gamble, Best Buy released a sale of Open Box Series 4 watches this morning. Not extraordinarily discounted but not bad. I am amazed at the variety available, including all models of SS. Remember it's Best Buy--YMMV.

I bought a BB openbox 2015 rMB and it's been a great little computer. Even called up Apple Support after buying it and they reset the in-service date for AppleCare to when I bought it from BB. (moot now over three years later, but worth folks trying with a watch)

Usually for a return on a new purchase, everything that came with the item is required.

Funny enough, when I returned my brand new Series 4 to the Apple store, I had everything also. I needed to use the charger to charge up my Series 3 to show it worked before trading it in, so I used the charger that came with the Series 4. At the end, the guy helping me told me to keep the charger at the end. I asked if he was sure since it belonged to the Series 4. He said, yeah. I said, “okay, don’t charge me later because it’s not included now”, and left with the charger when he assured me it was okay. Chalking it up to different experiences.

I second this. I did the same for my 2013 MBP. It was an excellent condition open box item with everything included - 3 battery cycles. Flawless operation even with some of the issues that came up around that model later. Apple also took care of the AppleCare adjustment for me as well, gained 6 months from that.

BB is worth a try. Right now, it’s going to be people who probably changed their mind on the size and/or version they bought. Just check the device thoroughly and get the AC.

There used to be a way to donate to them, but it is no longer there. It’s not often a service comes along that is as helpful as theirs and it is free. No option to donate, and not much (if any) ads anywhere. Not sure where they are paying their rent

We don't accept donations sorry. It's still a "user to user" service, we're not open source, but that's a bit the spirit behind. No data is sold or whatever setup where users are the products.
We're glad to help and keep the service free. We have a bit of affiliate marketing that overall cover the charges.

We've been a bit off MacRumors forum this year (a bit busy for other reasons), but very glad we could help some here!

Your language is what's confusing people. You traded your S3, but you returned your S4.

Another positive vote for BB open-box. I've done that three times, and the least-good purchase was very good. One was literally new, never powered up or even opened up, only the shrink-wrap removed from the outside box. It helps to be able to physically inspect the goods, but even by mail it's still returnable for the standard period.

Others have said so here, but I wanted to say thank you directly for your service. It helped me find the watch I wanted this weekend, and believe it or not the experience hunting for it on your site was actually fun. Great stuff, well done - thanks again!

I picked up a 44mm SS silver watch with Milanese loop on Monday. I didn't think the jump from Series 3 to Series 4 would be that noticeable, but I absolutely love this new series. Everything about it is an improvement, and it is my favorite tech gadget by far. Thanks to iStockNow for the timely updates, and thanks to everyone in this thread for sticking together during the drought :)

Good luck to everyone still on the hunt. It's definitely worth it.

picked one up in NYC a couple days, I'm just laughing at people have zero patience and opting for more expensive models because they're in stock

So you’re laughing at somebody else’s decision to purchase another model because that’s ultimately what they justified for the price point? Consumers do this all the time, if they want a specific product that the store does not have in stock, some decide to upgrade to the more expensive model, especially if it’s more limited due to production or popularity.

Bellevue, WA just got in some 40mm SS models. I grabbed one for the wife. istocknow notification came in about 15 mins later. So for those in the Seattle area wanting the 40mm, go go go.

I was going to agree with the post you quoted, but on second thought, you're right. Let's be honest: any Apple Watch is a discretionary purchase (see note below), and a Hermes edition is truly discretionary. So it's a personal choice, and there really is no compulsion operating here other than our own desire and impatience.

My note on this is that although I don't think we are there just yet, I can envision parts of the population for which an AW or other wearable with similar functions could become an important piece of health and safety hardware. My wife and I have talked about whether the fall detection would be useful for her 94 year old father. For a bunch of reasons, that's not true right now, but there is a real use case for this potentially emerging. Same for real-time, full-time AFIB detection and low- or high-heart rate cases. We've already seen reports of lives potentially saved due to heart rate detection.

Looks like the 44 Gold SS is MIA everywhere now. Lots of SB and S available, though.

My local BB had a gold 44 SS in stock yesterday when I went look for a silver SS.

My apple order still shows a delivery date 10/22-10/29. Closest apple store is 1.5 hours away and it shows 1 in stock but I can't bring myself to make the drive

This always happens. Somehow the one you’re not looking for is the one available.

Anyways, I was able to buy a 44 Gold SS with ML at my local Apple Store today. It didn’t show up on the website nor iStock. Although I actually wanted the one with the Sports Band, I thought it doesn’t matter and just swallow the CAD$150 I paid more for the ML. You got me again, Apple...you got me again!!!
