Patiently waiting for an update on my SB replacement. I called Apple yesterday and they said it was definitely a priority but the delivery date is showing the last week of October. I guess it depends on whether they have replacement stock available. Hopefully will see some movement this week

My 44 Gold stainless is also predicted the last week of October. I am curious to find out more why the stainless is completely back ordered this year, and I’m not inclined to believe it’s just due to the popularity, I wonder if there’s some type of manufacturing threshold compared to the aluminum.

I think they may have underestimated the demand as demand for the SS this year seems to be higher. Plenty of aluminium available in the UK but no SS. It also seems that a lot of people want the 44mm plus if you add to that the fact that many may be upgrading from S0 and S2's plus newbies then you have a model that says that this will be Apple's biggest year for watch sales.

It looks like the only 44mm available in the Southeast US for online order pickup is gold aluminum.

Have you guys ordered one for delivery as well just in case or are you just waiting until they become available in a store for pickup? I am trying to decide if I should just order one for delivery and wait it out.

I think they also overestimated the market of the Hermès line. Seems to be the only stock sitting in stores. Don't get me wrong, they're nice and all but the premium price over any SS model is a bit much (at least for me).

I picked one up at the Apple Store two days ago. They are hard to find, but they come in to the stores.

Everything just seems to be trickling through. This was a worldwide release this time rather than the likes of a first tranche - US; UK; Australia; France etc coming first. So supplies for worldwide distribution are spread very thinly. Apple just cant keep up with the orders.

I have no news on my replacement which is supposed to be a priority but I don't think they even have replacement stock.
When I got my S2, it had a fault and I was issued with and had a replacement within 3 working days.
This time, my replacement date is still saying the end of October. I have just ordered another watch and the delivery dates for that is also the end of October so it will be interesting to see which one arrives first.

How did you order a 44 SS from Target? I swear, their app and their website only lists a 40 SS as even being an item they offer. No 44. Am I missing something? And the 40 SS isn't even available to back order. It simply won't let you put it in your cart.

Sheer luck. They come and go. There was some 44mm Gold/Stone Sport band Saturday afternoon but I waited too long. Checked back later and there were none of those left (wouldn't even show up), but they had the 44mm Gold/Milanese Loop (with a note of "Only 5 left!" or similar) so I hopped on it. This was about 4:30 PM Eastern on Saturday the 29th. Fedex says the shipment info has been sent to Fedex (coming from Oregon) but the package hasn't been picked up yet - supposedly due to me in Georgia by 8:00 tomorrow. $10 shipping (if I wanted Free shipping, it wouldn't get here until Tuesday October 9.)

M

Edit - price was as expected for a 44MM Gold w/ Milanese loop. $849, plus approx. $70 tax plus $10 shipping. I was billed $928 total.

Good to know, thanks! I plan on hitting the two stores in my area this morning... again. Pathetic, I know, but I don't want my Series 3 to lose trade-in value before I can do this thing.

I ordered 44mm SBSS w/milanese loop last Tuesday on AT&T's site and it is being delivered today. I had delivery dates of 10/31-11/7.

I've checked in store twice this past week (Christiana, DE) and they said both times that they're not doing any walk ins, only accepting pickup orders. But there haven't been any in stock for online pickup either. Odd that they haven't gotten any since this store sees incredible volume.

FYI, the Target app now has the 44mm stainless steel models again, but they’re out of stock.

I want to add to this:

Do not rely on the Target app for in stock items like the Apple Watch, make sure you call the store first to verify. That application is not always up-to-date or it’s inaccurate with stock inventory/models, others have experienced this as well.

Do we know if they even stock stainless models in-store?

My local Target does not, but I do know that some allegedly do. Very few third-party retailers, including the Best Buy at times, does not regularly stock the stainless model, they usually have the aluminum models due to the popularity, usually they have to order the stainless models for you.

I would recommend checking the Target site fairly frequently – like I said when I checked earlier in the week, there were no stainless models, then a limited number of the Gold SS stone Sport Loop in 44 mm showed up Saturday afternoon and then disappeared only to have a limited number of the 44 mm Gold SS Milanese loop pop up within an hour or two. And their stock assessment (for what’s in their warehouse, not in-store) seems pretty accurate – the listing said they only had a few left, but I just got the confirmation from FedEx that they have received my package from Target and will deliver it by 3 PM tomorrow.

Getting it within 72 hours of placing my order on the weekend was more than worth the $10 shipping charge to me - since not once has Istocknow alerted me to any local stock in these models during that same 72 hour period.

I have ordered one for delivery just in case my replacement doesn't come through soon.I will keep an eye out at the nearest apple stores too

What’s weird is that I’ve seen several 40mm models of the silver stainless steel I want sit at various stores in this area for hours before iStockNow says they’re gone. But I’ve seen ONE 44mm model arrive at a store within 90 minutes of here since launch. It’s gotta be online orders that’s holding things up.

Yeah it is online orders that are the priority and my guess is that Apple is trying to get the waiting list down....interestedly the delivery dates for SS online orders hasn't slipped any further over the last three days and remains at 30th Oct-6th November so perhaps they are starting to turn things around

Yea, ok... online orders which were placed a week before they were available in a store are the reason there's no stock for walk-ins. One can only hope that's the reason. I mean how dare folks like this who have been "waiting in line" cause a delay for someone wanting to just stroll in and pick one up.

It's not a great reason, but it would be a better one than "we just never make enough of these for launch". This has happened for the last 2 Watch releases.

I think there was a production delay to fix something. Universally, SS has been nearly non-existent.
