Well, it's not paint. It's the anodized coating itself. And it should abrade away, not flake off. It's faulty anodizing.
I'm actually an anodizer. This is a textbook anodizing reject.
Get in line with the complaints. I just want Apple to address the bluetooth issues.
Never had a problem with bluetooth on any previous iPhone until the 7+. Multiple threads describe the issue. Functionality>Aesthetics
Sweet, shall I send you IM's to request your approvals on any topic that I would like to post about?
I can't help but wonder how much of it is them placing the device in pockets with keys, coins, or just generally seeing how well the iPhone would blend. It still sucks for those with issues, nonetheless.
Wow, the reading comprehension on this site is lacking. FLAKING of an anodized coating is NOT normal wear and tear. Read some of the comments before replying. SMH
No problems with mine. Mind you, I look after my stuff properly.
There are hundreds of forum members who experienced this on the 6s I believe. It appears it's a batched manufacturing consistency issue or a problem with the anodizing process with the 7000 Series aluminum. Thread listed below for reference on this issue.

@alleggerita. Can you attest to this?
You might want to head over to Amazon and read the reviews on the Otterbox. I can't remember exactly why I decided to nix them in favor of Supcase and Urban Armor Gear, but I seem to recall some reviews complaining about the case allowing grit to get trapped and marring their finishes. I don't know if that would pertain to the awful damage your phone has taken, but it's something to look into.Exact same thing that happened to me. Since the day I Bought it had it in an otter box along with Temp Glass idiots.
He is in charge, so yes, responsibility does fall on Tim Cook. I just wish other ceos were held to the standard some hold Cook to.Uh huh. Blame the guy who doesn't design the paint, or the hardware, or software, nor does he apply the finish himself or write the code, or even test the product beyond daily use...
Yes. It's all his fault. smh the absurdity of some blind people who think CEO does all and is responsible for all.
A $100,000 luxury shouldn't have manufacturing issues/defects but they do.A $700+ phone should not have paint peeling off less than a year after it's introduction. My $40 Microsoft Lumia 640 is black and has not a mark on it. With a $98 SD card, it has over 200GB of storage and with a Tracfone plan I pay ~$17 a month and I just passed my one year mark a couple of weeks ago and I've never once run out of talk time, data or text messages and I read the news on it 5 days a week (I don't watch streaming videos, however). It has more than enough power for HD movies and records in 1080p video and 8MP photos. It was practically a steal. I simply cannot comprehend why someone would want to pay over 7x more for a POS that can't even keep its paint on and won't be supported or will perform extremely poorly two major OS update versions from now. Mine had Windows 8 Mobile on it when I got it and now has Windows 10 and it got even more stable and faster with Windows 10 (nothing lags or feels slow at all and it connects to my Subaru's Bluetooth stereo just fine, etc.) The lack of certain custom (bank, etc.) apps is its only real limitation and that's do to people WANTING to spend huge amounts of money on a phone that is outdated in a year or two. I think people must be brainwashed to buy iPhones or something. I like Macs, but the iPhone is a complete waste of money, IMO and frankly, I'll need the savings if I ever want to buy a Macbook Pro again given how much they keep raising the prices on the damn things. Come on, $2400 for a BASE 15" model with only 250GB of storage? It's over $3000 for one with 1TB and it still has a crap GPU! Holy hell that's ridiculous. Maybe it's time to ditch the Mac too.... I'm not poor, but I don't enjoy being RIPPED OFF either just for a brand name. They're talking over $1000 for an iPhone 8. No phone should cost more than a notebook. It's a fudging PHONE for god's sake. The screen size/interface alone creates limitations even if the CPU does not.
