Which bands did they have? I'm looking for a SS with Milanese or Sport band. Flying into LA tomorrow. Planning to head there straight from LAX to put in a preorder. Hope they get one in for me before I leave on Saturday afternoon!

I got my sport the day after preordering. They won't guarantee anything though, they told me it might be 2 weeks. Someone else picked up their SS today.

Sounds a little risky! I'm not familiar with this store. If I had to fly home before the watch comes in, would they ship it to me?

The only bands they've had are the white/black and Milanese.

Thanks! That's just what I'm looking for. Just have to decide whether it is worth the risk since I'll only be there a few days.

Just landed at LAX and about to head to Maxfield's. Anyone have any success there today?

I have a family member who's going to Maxfields today for me. I'll let you know what happens. I'm in Florida. Hoping to get a 42mm SG

According to others in this thread, Maxfield's won't do a cash refund if you don't get your pre-order in the time you wanted, only store credit. So I'd be wary of pre-ordering if you won't be able to pick it up anytime soon.

Maybe ask if they can ship it to you?

I called to see if I could order over the phone and they ship it to me they said no. But maybe that's an option if you pay upfront, although I doubt it.

I just got back from Maxfields. I got there at 10:15AM and was handed the 79th ticket. They handed out 81. The security guys walking around said they only had 42mm Space Grey watches and 38mm sports watches in white, blue and green. They didn't get any stainless steel or editions in, and he said he hasn't seen any that weren't already reserved for preorders.

They only had one register open, so the line was moving extremely slowly (roughly 10 people an hour). The rule is one watch per person per day, with a maximum of 6 lifetime. Within 30 minutes of the store opening they were out of 42mm watches. That means that of the 81 they had in stock, less than 10 were 42mm.

Virtually no one in line wanted a 38mm, so it became a queue with the sole purpose of preordering. I hung around for a little longer and finally left because the line was moving so slowly. I may go back this weekend and place a preorder.

Key points:

1. If you want to get a popular watch, get there before the sun rises. There are people camping out every night and they get the best selection. One guy sold his space in line for $150.

2. If you are going to preorder, don't bother showing up before 2 or 3PM. You can preorder until the store closes at 7PM and so far the orders have been filled within two or three days.

3. Once you have your ticket, you are free to leave and come back. However, if they call your number while you're away, you're SOL.

Good to know my cousin is going around 3 today. Hopefully the line doesn't discourage him. I told him just to pre-order and leave lol

Ugh, Maxfield has to love this ... great job Apple move the spotlight off your doorstep and create a spectacle for your elite partners.

Wow this gets more screwed up by the day ...

I wonder what's with the one register open. That kinda crappy when you have over 50 people in line!

I was kind of surprised to see the store itself... I expected a large department store like Macy's or Barney's. Instead it is a tiny boutique no larger than a mall Gap. The parking lot for the store literally has 10 spaces. They are used to catering to one or two clients at a time; there is no way that this store was prepared for this volume of customers. They probably just don't have staff coverage.

Thanks Mac. Same experience here. I'm going to try and preorder one and hope it comes in before Saturday when I leave. Until then I'm drinking mezcal at the restaurant next door! Maybe I'll drink enough to just buy a 38mm.

Thank you for the info!

When you said don't bother showing up before 2 or 3, does that mean I'll be in line for 4 hours until they close? Or?

Also, which models are guaranteed-ish for 2 day fulfillment?

As anyone pre ordered the 42mm SS Milanese and received it? I'm thinking about going there and ordering one tomorrow since I only live a few miles away and my pre order from Apple isn't available until June
