42 Stainless

Does anybody know how much of the stainless steel versions they get it? If you pre ordered how long did you wait?

I just called. They have 38mm sports... black, blue, green bands.

What upset me is they said they have these for the public even though they promised all shipments that come in go to pre-orders first. Now they're backtracking and saying they have a separate allotment.

That's some BS. I expressed my frustration that I'm waiting for a phone call since I already paid in full for a 38mm sports with black band and they're sitting on shelves there for people to just buy.

This is literally the biggest cluster of a release.

Just when you thought it couldn't get more screwed up ...

So just put an order in with Maxfield

42mm SS BSB

Let's see what the turn around time is for this model. Countdown starts now! SO HAPPY that I live in LA.

Makes me wish I lived in LA and not 8 hours away. Can't even pre-order over the phone.

This post made up my mind NOT to drive over there and preorder one. Thanks for posting. I will stick out the wait with Apple... Won't be that much longer anyway :)

You are totally right to be pissed. I'm waiting for a stainless 42 Milanese

Aside from the weird way Maxfield's has handled all of this, I think it's better to keep your order with Apple for the simple reason that if you have an issue with your order, you are dealing with Apple directly. I used to buy my phones through my carrier but I stopped when I realized that Apple has more leeway with customer service if you buy the phones through them. I expect the same to be true of the watch. Yes, you can always add Apple Care, but what about band swaps? Will Maxfield's do them? Will Apple do them if you bought them at Maxfield's? Suppose you bought the SS and decided you wanted the Sport instead. At Apple, you'd get a refund, at Maxfield's, only store credit.

It's not a big thing but it's enough that I'd rather wait and have my order be processed through Apple directly.

How long was the wait?

5min wait for a ticket/appointment then I had to wait 2 hours for my appointment to go in and order. You can leave after you get your ticket but if they call your name for your appointment and you're not there you will be skipped. When it's your time for the appointment only 10 more minutes after that so in total I only waited about 20 minutes not counting the two hours that I left to go get food

That's why I said I will hold out for my Apple order.

In my LONG history with Apple products, they have never once cared where I got their devices from. All services are still done through Apple. Exchanges and returns are an issue in this regard, but I highly doubt Apple will deny anyone customer service if they bought the watch somewhere other than their store.

hey guys i live about 2 hours away from LA... i have an order with apple for a 38 mm SS black sport band. any idea if maxfields has any of those in stock? most of the posts ive seen are talking about the sport edition but it seems nobody is mentioning the ss. hmm. i'm in a weird spot (i just had a baby) where i can't just take 2 days out to drive to LA for the watch, but if they had it for sale over the counter i could probably talk my wife into letting me go ...

sigh. or i can just wait until may 20-27 to get my watch from apple. hmm. decisions decisions.

This is a random example, but when I first got my 6 Plus, I got it from T-Mobile, and when that phone had an issue that required a replacement, while Apple handed the replacement, I wanted to switch colors. They said they couldn't do this because I didn't buy it directly from Apple. If I had bought directly from them, it wouldn't have been a problem.

So while you can certainly get service regardless of where you originally purchased the item, you'll get the most leeway in terms of the services they can provide you if you buy directly from Apple.

They have no SS in stock, only 38mm sports

Uh. They probably BS'd you. Apple NEVER exchanges to a different color on any kind of service. The only way you could have done that with Apple is by actually returning and re-purchasing. Not just from my experience as a customer, but from multiple friends who worked/still work at Apple.

Really? Did they change that recently? I had a replacement before and wanted to switch colors, I was told no. I buy most Apple products from Apple. (Accessories I don't mind getting elsewhere.)

Was either iPhone 4S or iPhone 5, don't recall. Maybe they changed this policy recently about swapping colors for replacements...

I guess I'm not the only one that noticed that...

However they did let me do an even exchange (within the 14 days) for my iPad Air 2 (color change)

Didn't have to return, and repurchase. Receipt showed even exchange, without touching any payment info.

Since you were within the return window, they probably just let that slide. If you were outside that window, I doubt they would've switched colors.

Agree 100%

Honestly even in the return window, I thought they would have to issue a refund, and do a new sale. In the past they did that for any purchases other than exact exchange.

Okay, I'll take your word for it. I rarely try to change colors of my products, but I was specifically told that if I had purchased it from Apple, that the color swap would have been acceptable since the phone was already being replaced.

Anyway, I could see this being an issue for band swaps. We know Apple will allow this on watches purchased from Apple, but I bet they might have an issue doing it if you bought your watch from a boutique.
