Got the call at 7:15pm... My 42mm SS Milanese is ready for pickup tomorrow at 11am..... YESSSSS!!!!! #

When did you order?

----------

Does anyone know if they go through all the preorders first before offering sale to the general public?

Or do they set aside a certain percentage for preorders, and the rest go to the line first come first serve?

Maxfields

Can I go by tomorrow and expect to get one in the next few days? I ordered online and its not supposed to ship until June...

I'm looking for a 42 SG BSB

So I got in without an appointment because he said some people weren't coming back for their appointment, but I did want a watch they had in stock which was a 38mm ss Milanese for a friend. Guy escorted me in and I bought the watch and was out of there in less than 10 mins. They only had those and sport blue 38mm. Then an hour later I got a call for my 42mm Stainless Steel Black Sport Band! Like the others I had been expecting a call 11am/12pm but got a call at 5pm. I was in the area and went to go pick it up. They may be doing it later because there would be too much of a rush and the staff busy helping both waiting customers in the early afternoon and pickup orders. Pickup was only 5mins. In and out, perfect! Except I think the steel is a bit too heavy and I may revert to the 42 sport wsb + stone leather loop. Also so much build up for the watch after launch its kinda anticlimactic for me. But I will be using one for the foreseeable future.

I ordered my 42 SG BSB with them yesterday and they told me 2-3 days. Hope that helps!

Yup 1-3 days for that model. I ordered Friday, and I got called that it's in today

When did you order?

Sorry. Long dinner party with not that much Apple Watch time either...other than allowing several guests to indulge their curiosity of course.

I ordered last Wednesday around 1:00p.m.

The watch is exactly what I thought it would be, even more perhaps. I'm sure I'm going to love it, and I'm ecstatic I cancelled my Apple Store order with the Blue Leather Loop for the Maxfield order with Milanese. It looks amazing and fits my style perfectly! I hope your wait isn't much longer.

I ordered Monday of last week

Man. I ordered around 5PM on 4/28. I hope I made the cutoff. No call last night. Hope they just didn't get to all the orders, and pick up this morning.

in person

I suppose then, that I have to go in person? I'm going to go to the one on Melrose today...

Can't call in right?

What's Apple and Maxfield getting out of this partnership? It seems like Apple wanted the watch in a high end fashion boutique to give the watch some fashion cred. But it also seems like they were courting a different class of customer that doesn't necessarily browse through an Apple Store, especially not looking for watches. Maxfield on the other hand got access to an incredibly cool new product to offer exclusively to their elite customer base -- but instead, they got the same old pedestrian Apple techie crowd none of whom likely ever stepped into Maxfield before, nor will likely step into the place again. And in the process it disturbs their understated discreet business model, likely keeping regular big spending customers away.

So it seems like everybody loses here. Apple is getting a black eye as Maxfield, with Apple's oversight, allowed resellers to blatantly buy the only store stock available anywhere and sell them for over twice the retail, and Maxfield is having to deal with daily lines of atypical customers around their store, extra security, etc. likely keeping their regulars away. I just don't see how nobody saw this coming. Nor, why anybody thinks this going well. I'm not sure this is the reputation Apple hoped to cultivate in the fashion world with their watch.

I'm heading there later this evening to pick up my preordered 42mm ss bsb, but also wanted to see if they have any 38mm sg sport in stock for a family member. If anyone hears anything regarding there stock today, that would be appreciated!

I think this is only until Apple Stores get sufficient supplies themselves. Then the techie crowd will stop hitting up Maxfield and will hit Apple Stores instead. At that point, the watch becomes more of a showpiece for Maxfield, and perhaps they turn their attention to selling the Edition to their regular crowd.

My guess is that Apple initially intended to have at least some stock in its own stores fairly early on, or at least have sufficient online stock if they wanted to avoid the lines and resellers, but the late production issues with the taptic engine prevented this. Fulfilling a commitment to a single retail store isn't very difficult, though, so they kept sending watches to Maxfield.

Anyone been by there today to report back on what they have in stock today?

Just got a call to pick up my 42 mm ML!!!!! I will be a happy man tonight!!!

Hey, maybe I can pick up another pair (any pair) for CL :). Will see what they have in stock :))))))

For those who got the call and went to pick up your watches, please comment on what the inventory situation looks like today. thanks

looks like they have 42 mm sport blue in stock and 38 mm ss steel bsb in stock, at last this what I saw myself

Btw, for people getting BSB- this band is crappy. I originally got SG watch and BSB started peeling/flaking after 2-3 days. I don't know how they paired it with nice SS watch. Maybe white or other colors don't have this problem. But def plan on getting another band if you go with BSB.

Anyone order a green sports band from them in 42MM and successfully pick it up in a reasonable amount of time

As of this morning they had 42 Milanese, 42 SS black sports band and 42 blue sports.

Don't be silly. Apple will obviously replace it if that happens.

Does anybody know how late you can go and still have a good chance of getting an appointment? I want to order a 42 Milanese since my order with Apple isn't scheduled to ship until June

Oh I've no doubt you're right ... but I think Apple should not have done this. They should have opened up the stores to preview and pre-order the watch only for pickup in the stores. That's essentially what's happening now anyway. That way, people wouldn't have been able to walk in off the street and get them, which would deter the scalpers. Lines go away, and the boutique's customers don't get their watches any faster than anybody else, but Maxfield still gets their cut. This way, Apple gets the Maxfield customers they set out to get, who are introduced to the watch during the course of their normal shopping routine. Mayfield's entire business is not turned upside down, and Maxfield still sells the watches to the customers they were intended for, and makes a profit.

The way Apple did it, they just displaced their early adopter super fans from one camp-out line to another, made the lines worse, and sent two completely different demographics clashing with each other.

Can we please stop debating the validity and value of Apple's retail strategy re: Maxfield? It comes up once a day and sidetracks from those who actually care about receiving, ordering, and tracking inventory at Maxfield, etc.
