Also, the store very much so does pander to any hint of celebrity or anything. I had a guy in my office (We work a block from Maxfield) representing a company we're making a commercial for, and we were talking about the Watch as a few of us have them. He asks where we got them, Maxfield came up, and he immediately calls them. As it rings I'm like there's no way you'll get one at the end of the day, they tell him no way at all today and to line up tomorrow.

He walks over anyways, and 10 minutes later he rolls back in our door with a 42mm Space Gray sport. He claimed he showed them his Instagram(where he has like, 42000 followers), walked right past the line and was able to buy a watch out from under a line-waiter. That's Maxfield at its finest, underhanded and will say yes if you sweet talk.

And this is the kind of clientele Apple is courting and the kind of retail partners they have gotten into bed with. This ain't your father's Apple anymore.

I am still waiting on 42mm SS WSB ordered last Friday (by a friend).
He called knowing that there's BSB in stock, and they wouldn't let him/us change the order from WSB to BSB.

No more stainless steel 42, I think they have 38 Milanese. Lots of scalpers bringing their whole family.

That sucks, my plan is to get whatever 42 SS they have available. I have a SS 42mm BSB on order with Apple with a May 29th-Jun 11th ship date. I also have the Milanese Loop on order with a Jun ship date. If I can buy the 42 SS w/Milanese Loop at Maxfield I'll cancel both my orders and just order the BSB with has a 2week ship date now. That's my best case scenario.

I showed up at 8:45 AM and was the 9th person in line. At around 9:00 AM, a security guard came around, looked at everyone's ID and passed out little pink tickets with pre-printed sequential numbers; that was your place in line. Everyone immediately left, with instructions to come back at 10:00 AM.

At 10:00 AM, I was checked in by a guy with an iPad mini. He also looked at my ID, asked me what model Watch I was interested in, and wrote 11:20 AM on the back of my little pink ticket.

I left again, had some breakfast, and came back at about 11:15 AM. I waited a few minutes outside the store, and then was ushered inside. The selection was fairly limited today, and the employee that helped me didn't seem to know for sure whether they had specific models. For 42mm cases, the only Sport Watches they had were the blue band. I ended up buying a stainless steel 42mm with a black sport band.

All in all, it wasn't the worst experience, and I was able to get a Watch much faster than I would have waiting for my pre-order. It was a little annoying that I had to visit the store three times, but I can't complain too much since I live just a five minute drive away from the store.

You left twice and weren't hanging out around the store?

That's exactly what they want. They don't want us poor people to create a line around the store. It was/is bad for their image.

Then they should apply Apple's same mechanism for handling the line.
Take note of who's looking for what, match it with what they have, then go in and purchase it.

5 minutes tops to ring up the phone if they already know what you're getting.

And it's not like there's only one Apple contractor. There were at least 5 on Saturday. Yet they only let 1-2 people in at a time...

I had a 3:00 appointment and they didnt take me in until 3:20. Once in it took me 5 minutes to get in and out.

Yeah, I wasn't going to hang around outside if I didn't have to. I've never lined up for an iPhone, it's just not my thing. I live in the neighborhood (Maxfield is right next door to where I take my dog to the vet) so I went home the first time, then went to have breakfast at a nearby cafe the second time.

So they will not let someone just walk in, even if there is no line?

Nope.. When I arrived the first time I parked in their lot and tried to fly under the radar and walk in like I was blissfully unaware. They yelled for me to stop and then gave me the story about needing an appointment, blah blah blah.

Finally! Good luck to the rest of you guys! These are coming in very fast!

Just called to check and see what the status is for my 42mm SG. Person who answered said "any day now, very very soon" and then urged me to be near my phone until I get the call.

They did not urge me like that but they said they'll check if mine happens to be in the back. Otherwise they do expect a shipment tomorrow and just thanked me for being patient.

That was probably their vague way of telling me they'll get a shipment tomorrow. Glad to know they're expecting it tomorrow! :D

42mm , Friday May 1st, no walk-ins allowed

----------

42mm BSB & WSB for the SS models

----------

42mm BSB & WSB 1-3 days

Just note that I ordered SS WSB 42mm last Friday 5/1 and it hasn't come in yet. I think BSB is the fastest. Hope to see WSB tomorrow or this weekend.

Doesn't make any sense to me why :apple: did this with the botique stores. The botique now has to deal with all these people who are not their typical customer. Doesn't exactly accomplish the goal of spreading the watch into the high fashion world.
