Reporting in from Maxfields for day 2. Spent 7 hours here yesterday before they decided to stop selling at 545pm (it was unbelievable... They had stock and an hour+ left of business hours but arbitrarily decided to cut off watch sales to people who had been there since 9am.) The owner/managers contempt and disdain for the apple customers as opposed to their own high end fashion customers was palpable.

Anyway, as of 5am this morning there are 32 people in line. At least 15 of them are with the "Russian mob crew" from yesterday. It's ridiculous.

For reference the "Russians" are very friendly with Maxfield staff and a number of them were allowed to go in multiple times yesterday, with very thin stories of "getting a ticket from someone who left.". They were also offering people walking out a $300 premium for their watches. I estimate that they snagged 50-60 of the ~250 sold yesterday.

If and when they start scalping tickets like they did yesterday people should call the police, since that's illegal.

Also, if and when they start cycling through the line multiple times, please complain to Maxfield staff.

The whole situation is ridiculous bad press for Apple. I have never seen such organized crime at any other product launch in my life.

----------

People should also report the organized criminal element operating with the tacit approval of Maxfields to Apple directly.

I have attended all sorts of product launches and have never seen any retail store tolerate it like Maxfields is.

The Apple rep claiming there was nothing he could do about it was ********. Street ticket scalping is illegal in CA and he could have called the police. Or at very least asked Maxfield to stop letting them in the store multiple times each.

Hey Thomas

At what time they plan to open today?
I woke up and consider going

What's worse. These Russians at this one store. Or Asian scalpers that line up all the time at every Apple launch at every Apple Store and sap up stock for days.

11am.

Aprox 5 more people are in line behind us now. And surprise 10 or so Russians who where having their spots held in front of us have suddenly showed up.

That's not fair for sure!
Can you hold me a spot too before I arrive? I am kidding, would go to the end of the line.

Hey, give us update!
Also, do you know if they give more than one watch to one person?

Retail, AFAIK.

I'm not sure Maxfield's will continue to get supplies of the watch after this weekend while inventory is so limited. I think this was more of a publicity stunt than anything.

My guess is that once supply and demand normalize and you can get them at Apple Stores they'll probably have a few Apple Watches in a case, including the Edition. A $10,000-$17,000 Edition could be an "impulse buy" or at least a secondary purchase for their regular crowd, as could the nicer stainless steel models.

The number of Russians has doubled in the past two hours. There was just a bunch of shouting with regular customers and Maxfield staff. Staff said there will be no tickets today, told people in line that they are responsible for stopping butting in line.

----------

I was #31 at 5am. Now I'm somewhere close to #70.

People in line are now going to have our post it notes and create our own ticket system.

Wow, this is horrible . Shame on maxfield. Lazy bastards

I'm just so glad I got this done yesterday before the scalpers really showed up. I never really liked lining up at the Apple Store but this experience made me at least appreciate the way Apple handles things. It's like being back on your home turf.

This Maxfield experience was very foreign and difficult at times; but the people in line were great. The Apple employees brought in (looked like some were actually from Apple HQ) encouraged us to write in and voice our complaints.

Best of luck to those in line! Keep in mind that it took from 9am to 6:10pm (they closed early) to sell exactly 287 watches... that's it.

What # were you and what time did you walk out with your watch?

Official tickets have been handed out. Apple rep said they had plenty of stock in blue, green, and white sports. The only SS they have is the 38 Milanese.

Yes, I think you're correct. But I think that won't be for a while and after today they won't have stick until things normalize.

As for the scalpers, shame on Maxfield's for not policing that better. This may not be their regular crowd but this sale still reflects on the store. Also, I'm sure Maxfield's is now greatly regretting agreeing to be the sole physical POS for Apple Watches in the U.S. while stock is limited.

They told us they're a permanent retailer of the watch, where you can come and buy the watch, bands, and accessories from here on out.
