Did not respond to you, but to a previous post by vjobs who stated that he: "can easily get 8-9 hours out of it, when turning screen brightness down to 50% with just surfing the web".

He said that with screen 50% and just surfing the web he could not reach 10....
You can turn it as you wish, it seems not adequate to me...

You're reading it wrong. I easily get 8-9 hours of battery life with brightness around 75-80%. Usage btw: Safari, Mail, Spotify playing, YouTube and about 1 hour of FaceTime. When bringing brightness down to 50%, and being careful on power usage (no FaceTime, no Spotify) I'm getting 9-10 hours.

Haven't tested with watching HD video only.

When editing a document in Pages with 50% battery and that is all I do, I can get 14 hours easily.

Except that with 2016 MBP they totally failed to keep same "battery power" than before....

They reduced the battery from 99.5 to 76 and were hit by a barrage of criticism about battery life.

By battery power I meant battery life. They clearly sacrificed just enough Wh to maintain the same level of battery life, which most people now report to be in the ballpark of 8-10 hrs after the original battery fiasco. Compare to the 7-8ish hours most people get for the 2015 15-inch mbp with regular use. Again, this is in line with their M.O. The facts do not bear out a "total fail."

I know I am probably the only person in existence who would say this and I know people will say I am nuts. But I wouldn't say no to ECC Ram in a MacBook pro. Yes I know it would be cpu dependant.

It's unclear to me if there is something like a superior energy that forces you to buy a macbook pro, like the invisible hand of tim cook pushing you into an apple store. There are options, buy a dell xps with 32gb and be happy.
Last time I checked MacOS must run on Mac hardware. End of story. Oh, except I also had laptops with 32GB RAM few years ago but am stuck with 16GB for Mac.

You can always do the Hackintosh thing. People are running MacOS on the XPS 15 with 32 GB of memory.

It really isn't the same thing AT ALL running hackintosh vs. native MacOS.....

- Apple can possibly ban your apple account
- Some features like Wifi might have issues
- Upgrades might not work... at all. Can break your OS
etc.

And many pros have repeated that they'd rather have 32GB and 5 hour battery. I'm not rendering video in the woods or in a coach airline seat so I can plug in almost always. Just want the screen to be a bit more mobile than the desktop. This is not an unusual opinion or an unreasonable expectation.
Just wanted to say I told you so to those of you ridiculing these expectations and insisting that apple wouldn't ship 32GB models without LPDDR4. Apple just agreed with us "pros". I'm now in for a 32GB 2018 MBP. What took so long :)

Yeah there is alot of humble pit should be eaten on this one ....but I expect they will be eating it quietly :p

Agree. Well I feel good about keeping my money from apple until they delivered, and not listening to those trying to claim we had to wait for an lpddr solution from intel before the situation could be fixed.

Also goes to show Apple were either lying or wrong in the first place

Lets see how the battery life changes. They have marginally increased the battery capacity, but that is certainly not enough to offset the increased power draw of DDR4.

I have never accepted that as a reason leman, do you expect me to change my mind on that now ? :)

Well, this is documented in quite some detail in technical documentation and relevant papers, but of course you can believe in whatever you choose :)

I think I can give you a better reason though: DDR4 is cheaper, so Apple gets more $ per unit sold and in addition, they can also charge the crazy upgrade fee for the 32GB option ;)

P.S. In all seriousness, I think they probably source some sort of high-end DDR4 with lower power consumption. Notice how the RAM frequency is 2400MHz instead of 2666MHz (which you find in most comparable laptops in 2018).

Well its reported they have increased battery size to prevent any issue and maintain 10 hour battery life. Its not clear to me if the larger battery is across the board or only in the 32GB one. Ha I agree about the pricings.
