guys, save your whining until tomorrow.... :)

even i'll be on here complaining about something.

I'm looking forward to the whining to go from people speculating and finding out info from anyone but Steve beforehand to after it's revealed and people can complain about what it should have been, should have had, etc...etc....

It's even more funny that the guy from McGraw Hill says something about it and the people who are clamoring for info are the ones complaining that they found out anything about it from him. Instead of being happy to find out info, they complain they find out info.

With people's hype and expectations through the roof, I don't think it's possible for them to reveal a Tablet/e-Reader/Whatever that will make people happy.

Such a Shame...

Date line 2015:
Such a shame about McGraw-Hill. They were a publishing power house until 2010 when their CEO violated the written secrecy agreement with Apple on the iPal and Apple dumped them in favor of other publishing companies that could keep their lip zipped.

Cheers

I watch very little TV, but I'm now realizing why HD has become so important-- they need the extra pixels to display content beyond all the tickers and scrolling doo-dads and advertisements and logos encrusting the edges of the broadcast.

Good CEOs are not that obviously petty.
Wow, you're kidding, right? Jobs himself is the perfect counter-example...

So only the rich kids are gonna get a iPad for school, while the poorer kids look on in envy. How long before the poor kid simply trashes the other kids' iPads in envy and hate? BAD idea!:apple:

Yes it is a bad idea to trash other people's stuff out of envy and hate.
Err...that WAS what you were saying, right?

Imo

Why does everyone hate the iPhone OS? I mean it is a little dated compared with Android, but still it is not horrible.

I don't think people actually hate the iPhone OS per se, it's just that if the tablet runs this OS it means that it will most likely be a terribly closed system completely tied to the App store and with no possibility of inputting or creating your own content. It will run on arm, that means there's no compatible software for it besides (yup, that's right) the iPhone and iPod Touch apps. I know that it's very easy to get your music and videos into iTunes, but there's no productivity apps, not even basic. There's the rumor of iWork getting ready for touch, but I didn't see if apple actually ported it to run on arm processors.

We'll see tomorrow.

I feel like you dont get it. There is nooo way Apple would let a CEO go on air and slip. 100% planned. You dont think they check out what activities any party who knows of the tablet is doing..yet alone on national tv? I mean look at this blog. How many pages are there already of people discussing this. Think of all the news outlets talking about this. More people now know who didnt know about the tablet. Everything going according to Apples plan

The sane people have said that several times already in this thread but it's obvious to see from the replies exactly who has read the thread and who hasn't.

Considering I just got online, I do have a life after all and the insanity is just out of hand, Mcgraw-Hill would not jeopardize a lawsuit of this stature, s common sense should prevail.Tomorrow will be here soon enough and the facts will be in front of us.

It's 50/50 if this was a controlled leak or not.

I'm betting it wasn't and McGraw-Hill will no longer be part of the Apple's plans with the tablet.

Apple has been known to cut ties with companies for much less than this.

Os

iPhone OS = Customized OSX. What's not to like?

Besides, I am in agreement with some in here that we will be seeing an iPhone OS4 debut which could be significantly improved over the current OS including resolution independence, updated UI etc. So, we'll see. I'm pumped.

I think it was Alex Lindsey who said Mac OS X is a lego kit. You can pop parts on and off as needed. So, iPhoneOS is really OS X with a bunch of unneeded parts taken off and some parts replaced.

It's entirely possible the TabletOS is really iPhoneOS with a few more parts clipped on.

one of the most logical posts of the whole thread i reckon.. although saying that i only read 3 pages.. i got bored of the illogical posts complaining that its based on iphone!! lol

At least wait til tomorrow, then complain.. for crying out loud.

This guy strikes me as the kind, where he got paid a large sum of money to not say sommat.. then he started thinking about what he was having for dinner that night, n forgot what to say, so blurted out the first thing on his mind!!

iPhone OS? Oh no! A tiny system that starts up the instant you push the power button? How dreadful!

Seriously, why did people even dream that the tablet was going to be a MacBook Air without a keyboard? A full blown OSX needs a PC-grade processor, a fat battery and a hard drive or SSD, and all you'd have is half a laptop. It's a useless product for the consumer and an even more useless one for Apple since it would compete with other portable Macs. They want you to buy the tablet AND a Mac.

Of course it was going to be a giant iPhone on steroids. It will run forever on one charge and it will have one-click access to browsing, mail, ebooks, music, videos, games and possibly videoconferencing. It's a playstation, not a workstation.

The Apple Tablet is a Doomsday Device

Oh my, didn't Terry just say 95% of textbooks are available for the tablet? And I presume that the same deals are already made or will be made for other textbook publishers? I can just imagine every college student toting one of these.

Furthermore if newspaper and magazine content were on to a similar deal, the chances of this device replacing print media and textbooks are huge. But that can mean bad things ahead too.

If printed books and magazines manage to be outsold by electronic media, the need for paper manufacturers, printing presses, delivery boys and transport systems would be less. It may not look like much now, but such a device, if widely successful, could potentially kill off whole industries and wipe hundreds of thousands of jobs.

To use the 'proper terminology' of today's youth:
The Tablet would be a complete FAIL if it had Mac OS X on it.

Why in the world would I buy a smaller laptop where I can't use a keyboard or mouse? It makes no sense. Microsoft has tried this - if you want that, buy a Microsoft Tablet.

When would I grab my laptop and start coding in XCode, then think.... hmmmm, I'd rather code on a tablet? Ummm.... NEVER! When would I open a word processor on my laptop, and think... hmmm.. I'd rather do this on a tablet? Ummm... NEVER!

It's got to be a touch-based OS, like the iPhone OS. The iPhone OS is very powerful, and can do things like multi-tasking, Apple has just not enabled the API to allow this yet. This might change in iPhone OS 4.0

my school is making us by custom versions of textbooks...written by teachers, and with "extras"
